  1. Thank you Jim, It looks more glossy than it does in real life. I used Deft Satin lacquer spray with the deft sealer underneath.
  2. Thanks Jerry, I agree with you about home made gifts....She is a special friend.
  3. Thank you so much.....I was lucky on the piece of walnut... the diameter is 8 inches. The thickness of the cutting is roughly 1/2" and the backer board is about 1/4". thanks again
  4. I saw a picture of a tree of life cut out on here that I liked by @Fish a month ago or so....So I cut this out of a piece of Walnut I found in my scrap pile. I really loved the grain. I made it for a church friend of mine so the two flowers that I carved and painted are suppose to represent our friendship. I am giving it to her this next week for her birthday.

    Sam!

Great choice! both Sam and the wood. You simply amaze me.
  6. Which wood is the white one on top of your stack?
  7. Welcome from Eastern WA! This is a friendly place to learn from some of the best people on Earth!
  8. I decided to purchase and download the entire catalog of Steve's (took a couple of times). He had a couple patterns I really liked but I had to simplify it because I will be using it in my next scroll saw class. I have always promoted his work and website to all my students. This one is out of a 2x4 and some walnut. I purchased the wheels, etc.
  9. I am so very sorry to hear this news. I have used Steve's patterns in my scroll saw classes and have always enjoyed seeing his smiling face on so many of the downloaded patterns. He was such a great and generous soul. My heart just aches for you and your family. My prayers are with you during this difficult time. Marie
  10. As always, very Amazing!
  11. Great find but even better scrolling. Your hand must be all healed up by now.
  12. It was such a fun little project to do in 2 hrs (3 hrs with paint, finish and glue up). I timed it and used it in my intro to scroll saw class with out the letters. The students just loved it. One of them was going to go home and paint the sign with chalk board paint so they could write on it different things. The rest I gave wood letters I got from a hobby store so they could paint them and glue up their project at home. I took them about 3 - 3.5 hrs to cut it out. But they all really enjoyed the entire experience.
  13. Wow Barb! you out did yourself. This has got to be one of my favorites! Perfect for the water mermaid that you are !
  14. Very nice
  15. I suppose one could put a little amber light behind it to make it look light it shines
  16. Richard, Nice work! I was just reading Exodus this morning....I haven't gotten to the parting of the Red Sea yet though... just the burning bush....Now that would be a difficult one to carve!
  17. Thanks Paul, This is the valentine I think I will try for my intro to scroll sawing class. I e-mailed Steve regarding permission to use it in the class but haven't heard from him. Do you have any ideas how to reach out to him? I used the e-mail [email protected]
  18. Thanks Jerry, Yes, I timed myself on this one to see how long it would take me. It was really pretty quick. Unlike carving a carousel horse (which I am doing right now) will take me months to complete
  19. I decided to take a break from carving for a couple hours and I do miss just scroll sawing. It was soooo fun to cut this little guy out and add a little stain to him. This is a Steve Good Pattern. It is simply amazing what patterns he comes up with in his creative mind. If you do use his patterns, please consider donating to support him. He has a donate button right on his website.
  20. I am so amazed by your work! Those bridges are so small between your cuts. Do you ever have to pull out the CA glue when things do not go as planned?
  21. Very nice clock!
  22. Dave, that is impressive! You had to be perfect to make that all come together. Excellent work!
  23. Merry Christmas to all and a Blessed New Year!
  24. Great cutting and I really like pecan stain. That will make them look great!
