  1. Dan (dgman) ....Actually I haven't fully applied the Poly to the letter lines. Have given the back 3/8" BB a couple Sprays of Poly. I have experimented with this and waiting for the Results. Tomorrow.... AND I 100% BELIEVE IN AILEEN TACKY GLUE. Kevin..............That is a Great Tip. I shall be giving this method some thought. Thanks. Merlin.............I FEEL FOR YOU. This is WHAT I AM WORKING ON. "The Lords Prayer" Sure Hate to present it to my Church which I plan doing and say it gets hung and admired and months later some lines start falling off. Sad. Blush! Would make me feel real bad.... NOT GOING TO HAPPEN..............Thanks Everyone....................Danny :+}|
  2. KEVIN NOW THAT IS A VERY INTERESTING BIT OF ADVICE. Gotta Ponder this a lil. Thanks..............Danny :+}
  3. Here is my 2cents about Fuzzies on the back of a Portrait. THERE JUST ISN'T ANY TO SPEAK OF. Honest. I Mainly use Baltic Birch 1/8" 1/4". I cut Portraits 2 at a time using 1/4" BB. 1/2" I have found is My Comfortable limit. So here is What I call My Secret to Hardly any Fuzzies. USE A FDUR#1 BLADE. Honest. Usually all I do is sand with 300grit lightly on the back. Anyway...........Just my 2 cents...........................Danny :+}
  4. I would just LOVE to hear from Experienced woodworkers on this subject. Bet many others would also....... Example: Plaque has been Stained.... Also 3 coats of MINWAX Clear Gloss Poly. Want to GLUE words that have ALSO been stained and Varnished to the surface of the Plaque. Would there be ANY SPECIAL glue to use? I know....I could experiment....but just THOUGHT this is a subject I haven't seen here. Thanks for Any Input ..........................Danny :+}
  5. EVERYTHING SAID ABOVE IS THE WAY I LEARNED AND I DO NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEM AT PRESENT. ONLY PRACTICE N MORE PRACTICE WILL GET YOU TO THAT POINT OF NEVER WORRYING ABOUT MAKING A 90° TURN AGAIN. Good Luck Sam....................Danny :+}
  6. I JUST CHECKED OUT MIKE'S SITE AND CAN SEE RIGHT OFF THE BAT THAT HIS PATTERNS ARE DESIGNED FOR USING A ....SPIRAL BLADE.... Not for me. Never could learn to use them. CAN SEE MIKE PUTS A LOT OF WORK IN DESIGNING HIS PATTERNS............................... Steve....You did a OUTSTANDING job of cutting that pattern. Looks Real. Danny :+}
  7. Great job on Everything. Very Talented man. I have made several trucks like this also. Yours looks so, so Professional. Danny :+}
  8. Was wanting to say lots of good stuff about how Great this car looks and what a Great job of cutting and using the oval backer thats Beautifully colored. Never heard of this kind of car, but know now. Tks for showing. Danny :+}
  9. I have pretty much decided on $2 each. And maybe 3 for $5. Sounds Good. Thanks to EVERYONE. “The only people I owe my loyalty to are the ones who never made me question theirs.†and I feel there is a lot of this in this forum.... :+} ― Joe Mehl
  10. JUST WANT TO SAY. I JUST....LOVE BEING A PART OF THIS FORUM....EVERYONE IS GREAT. THANKS FOR ALL THE INPUT. I JUST SAY WOW! TO THE MAJORITY FEELING THAT A BUCK REALLY MIGHT BE .... TO CHEAP.... REALLY LIKE THE THOUGHTS OF SO MANY FOR SO MUCH. WILL JUST HAVE TO GIVE THIS MORE THOUGHT. THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE..............Danny :+} P.S. Dave I feel very comfortable only cutting a stack of FOUR using the BALTIC BIRCH 1/8" Yes I have also cut stacks of 5 and 6, but to me the going is pretty rough. Only 4 is a piece of cake.
  11. Was just Wondering.... I have been selling these letter ornaments for a buck each year. Besides Scrolling and Sanding thats all. They sell pretty good each year. Seem to always run out of a certain letter. Have cut a DOZEN of each letter. Been using 1/8 bb and stacking 4 up. Using my Favorite blade. FDUR #1.... So another Good Friend (Scroller) made a mention that he thought a Buck was to Cheap. So My Question is............Any feelings on a price you would tack on each? As my Always.... Just Love any Feedback. Danny :+}
  12. Thanks for EVERYONE'S COMMENTS. DON.... Now with 25% off of $39.99 (yea plus taxes) that Metal Stand looks Real Good. Will head down there later. Thanks for this info. Danny :+}
  13. Now ya see there, Lots of Good stories about some. Enjoyed reading each post. Just thought of a table for the Garage area to mount my Scroll Saw as this is the way I have it out in the Work Shop. Bench/Table....Same to me.... Anyway ... A Big Thanks to all.... Danny :+}
  14. I am in the middle of making the single car garage into at least a Winter Work Shop. Primarily Scrolling. Have a Hegner 18" and I want to build a STURDY toll around table for it. I know there are plans out there and building one is pretty simple....BUT.... I just LOVE to read others adventures with this. Yes? Thanks in Advance.................Danny :+}
  15. Well I'll tell you what....Like what was already said....INVENTION.... You might just be the Author of this way. Maybe you should get it Patented. I DO WANT TO LEARN HOW. Any Tutorials coming our way? :+} And Me also can't wait to see after you cut it. Will the Colors be painted like this example? Danny :+}
  16. Len....Yes you are correct. I went by what my Pastor said. Using the King James version. Googled this and came up in using the "IN" verses the "ON". This subject is in verification mode at present. Piece of Cake to cut this line again. My 2 cents with cutting ....letters like..S..R..B..O..P.. etc. is run your saw 3/4 speed. Get Good at FOLLOWING THAT LINE. Do not stop cutting when you begin the letter. Learn well when to start a turn. Learn Good Eye-Hand Control. And for me .... PRACTICE IS THE KEY TO NEAR PERFECT SCROLLING. Anyway.... Danny :+}
  17. Debi.... I really enjoy cutting the "s" .... Just keep the wood blank moving.... round n round.... Can't stop or you loose the moment. Danny :+} Lucky2.... The way I cut this was using the King James Version.... Copied it word for word and the "IN" was the way it stated. Using "ON" seems to be the traditional word.... Anyway Thanks for bringing this up...........Danny :+}
  18. Paul I really enjoy cutting the words. Once I get into the swing of turning the wood it becomes Fun.... :+} Probably took around 8 hours cutting........Was a Off n On project. Think I spent the better part of a week. Robert.... There are many versions of The Lords Prayer. We use the....RJV-King James Version. :+} Thanks again for all the comments. Always means a lot to me...............Danny :+}
  19. Boy I sure would Love to cut this. Could you lead me to the pattern? Danny :+}
  20. LOVE IT....Wonderful Gift to Parents of their new born babies.... Sue always has Great Patterns.... Danny :+}
  21. WANNA SAY THANKS TO ALL....ALWAYS APPRECIATE ANY RESPONSES.... Danny :+}
  22. Well I have got the hardest part of this Plaque completed. Now I will decide on a backer design. Probably 1/2 or 3/4 hard wood well routed etc. So basically this is a Steve Good design with a Modification design made from my Good Friend Paul. Darth He helped me decide on this Font. I will post a finished picture down the road. Always Love to read how everyone feels about what the see. Good or not so good is OK.................................Thanks in Advance..................Danny....:+} P.S. I DID USE 1/4" BALTIC BIRCH STACKED 2 UP. I ONLY USED THE FD-UR #1 BLADE. Keep a SHARP BLADE AT ALL TIMES. Never PUSH. Some to NO sanding on backs. No BREAKS. Thanks for looking.... :+}
  23. And thanks again Dan for this info. Great to Remember. Gonna put buying another saw on hold for now. May just bring my Cadilac from outside workshop to Garage work shop for the colder months. Time will tell...............:+}
  24. Gee I just checked out Seyco. That Purple one would of been my choice. Oh well.... :+}
  25. Hi Dan....NOW THIS DOES PUT A CRIMP INTO THINGS. Didn't know and Never did with TOP FEEDING. Seems would be having to bend down to see how to clamp the blade every hole. DOESN'T SOUND GOOD TO ME....SO....BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD. LEN....YOU ONLY ATTACH THE BLADE TO THE BOTTOM HOLDER ONCE. THEN IT STAYS SNUGLY IN ITS HOLDER. BOTTOM FEEDING AND ATTACHING THE BLADE ON THE TOP IS ....SO FAST.... PIECE OF CAKE. BUT GUESS ITS JUST A PERSONAL PREFERENCE OF LIKES AND DISLIKES. NOW IF THIS DELTA I HAVE MY EYE ON ONLY FEEDS FROM THE TOP. THIS MIGHT BE A PROBLEM. NEED MORE PROS N CONS ABOUT THIS SUBJECT. YES? Thanks to ALL.... Danny :+}
