    I HAVE CUT DOZENS OF THESE MINI BIRD HOUSES. LAST BATCH WAS USING POPULAR.... USING THE 1.5 THICKNESS THEY CALL FOR DID GIVE ME PROBLEMS. I RIPPED THE BLANK DOWN TO 1.25" AND STILL ONLY USE THE ....FDUR #1 BLADE. CUTS PERFECTLY FOR ME AND I HAVE MORE CONTROL WITH CHANGING DIRECTIONS DURING THE CUTTING PROCESS. JUST MY 3 CENTS....................Danny :+} OH YEA.... HAVE TO REDUCE THE PATTERN DOWN A TAD....

    My Big Thanks to all these Great reply's. When I started scrolling ALWAYS USED 1/4". Only got 2, but that was the way I was taught when cutting Portraits. That was back 8 years ago. I will now and forever use the 1/8" with a 1/8" painted backer. Thanks again Danny :+}

    Been a while since I last cut a Portrait pattern.... And I still have plenty that someday it looks like I might just have to Give Away as they do not sell at my Craft Shows. Question for ya's....Would you cut 4 stacked of 1/8" BB.... OR>>>> 2 stacked of 1/4" BB. I really want to FRAME them and want to use a GOOD BACKER MATERIAL. Yes I am open to all and any of your OPINIONS on this Subject,. Look Forward to reading bunches. Thanks for your attention to this matter. Danny :+}

    Thanks DW....Always trust your words. Have did some investigating and yes there are the normal water mixture with the dye and also the denatured alcohol which would help with the drying time. Seems most are on the Expensive side for such a small amount, but IF I get serious about this Venture I would buy and experiment at first. I did enjoy the youtube videos and found the information to show that it really isn't that difficult. Anyway Thanks to Everyone for your posts.............Danny :+}

    Keven you say cheap wood, but with what you did to it with Scrolling you made them into Big Money Pieces. I love cutting Words. Most Fonts.... And I think your ability on the Scroll Saw is Way, way up there.... Danny :+}

    Hey....I have cut MANY DIFFERENT shapes and sizes of JIGSAW PUZZLES in my time. Always designed my own. Was a lot of fun for a long, long while. Tried to sell at a Craft Show.... Lots of lookers and Questioners, but not many sold. Cry. After several more years with trying to sell ....with not much luck.... one here and one there. I still have 2 full boxes 11x17 paper type full of them. Cry.cry.... Not very popular around here I guess. I prefer type A as the NORMAL SHAPE, but I have used both of your other shapes. Type C will interlock the best for a tighter fit. MAKE SURE YOUR TABLE IS....AT THE 90 DEGREE MARK. Just another 2 cents worth.........Danny :+}

    Hello Dick.... Except for cutting with the Jig saw....No haven't did any Scrolling yet....But think I will.... I bought my 4x8' sheet at LOWES.... Cost before taxes $13.00.... Oh yea .... I really HOPE we have lots of people with comments on this subject. Danny :+}

    JUST WANT TO CHIME IN ON THIS SUBJECT. LONG AGO DURING MY SCROLL BEGINNINGS I ALSO WAS ABOUT TO GIVE IT UP. FOUND FOLLOWING THAT ....LINE.... JUST TO HARD TO CONTINUE TO FOLLOW. IN AND OUT. NOT A GOOD LOOK. BUT LIKE DAN SAID AND THINK IT WAS HIM THAT GAVE ME CONFIDENCE WITH HIS WAY OF ....PRACTICING A LOT.... DID JUST THAT FOR MANY HOURS AND AS EACH HOUR WENT BY ....BY GEORGE.... I STARTED TO BE ABLE TO ....SPLIT THAT LINE.... TODAY....APPROXIMATELY 5 YEARS LATER I AM ABLE TO FOLLOW ANY SHAPE LINE TO NEAR PERFECTION. ITS A CONFIDENCE THING WITH ME.
