  1. BOTH COLORS HAVE THEIR PLACE, BUT I SAY THE GREEN CATCHES MY EYE BETTER..............Danny P.s. COULD BE ARTISTIC AND USE A GOOD PAINT FOR THE BACKER ON 1/8BB AND MAKE VARIOUS COLORS.

    You are a Inspiration Jerry. I can feel it by looking and reading about you. I LOVE these Christmas Decorations. Our home will be having a couple pairs this Christmas. Your craftsmanship is Great. Danny :+}
  3. LOOKS VERY PLEASING TO THE EYE. VERY GOOD SCROLLING MY FRIEND.... Danny :+}
  4. WOW! Learned a LOT about everyone with this Post. My venture was low priced Lowes which worked good for my learning. Worked into a BETTER saw. Much improvements. Then Lil Bro gave me his HEGNER. Like day and night the GREATNESS of this Scroll Saw. Yes that was many years ago. Still humming and making lots OF SAWDUST. To reply to your post.... Depends on your income and also your wants for scrolling. Just my 13 cents...............Danny :+}
  5. I SURE HOPE MY HEGNER IS STILL BEING BUILT IN GERMANY. BEST SCROLL SAW I HAVE EVER OWNED. Danny :+}
  6. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR COMMENTS.... Paul.... That was a very unfortunate thing to have happen. Especially to a craft like yours. Happy all worked out in the long run. I have used Valspar Lacquer Paint for lots of my Christmas Ornaments and I must say I am really impressed. If I wasn't the type that likes a Shinny look ONE COAT could get by with more or less a Satin look. AND ITS CHEAP. Found this at LOWES. Thanks again.............Danny :+}
  7. Decided to buy this brand. Was HALF price of the Minwax brand I have been buying.. I gave it a try on a word art plaque. Did not appy any Oil or stain like I always do. The wood was just plain ole Baltic Birch. The Valspar gave the wood a soft brownish look. Posting 2 pics. Couldn't get the Perfect pic. Cheap camera. LOL Has anyone out there ever used this product? If so I would LOVE to read any experiences. Thanks in Advance..................Danny :+}
  8. Hi Shannon....Danny here. Thanks for your post.... I am going to give it a go....GLOSS on Wood.... Will let all know how it turns out. Might even post some pics. Danny :+}
  9. Hello Jim.....................When I read your above post about your selling the Rubber Band guns....Right away my mind raced forward learning more about construction of these. Any chance in sharing your patterns? Or if not where might I find them on the Web? Thanks..........Danny :+}
  10. WOULD THIS BE ANOTHER WAY TO BRING OUT THE SHINE BESIDES USING SPRAY VARNISH/LAQUERE ???? THINK I SHALL PURCHASE A BOTTLE ETC. AND SEE. Danny :+}
  11. HAS ANYONE EVER USED THIS PRODUCT ON THEIR CRAFTS? I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW MORE.... THANKS IN ADVANCE.... Danny :+}
  12. BEEN SCROLLING OVER 10 YEARS AND ALL I HAVE LEARNED IS FROM THIS AND STEVES FORUM. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT METHODS OVER THE YEARS FOR APPLYING THE PATTERN. ALL MENTIONED ABOVE. ALL SAID AND DONE I FINALLY DECIDED THE BEST FOR ME OVER-ALL IS TO SAND THE BLANK AND MAKE IT AS SMOOTH AS A BABIES BOTTOM BEFORE STARTING WITH THE PATTERN. SIMPLE AS SPRAYING THE BACK ON THE PATTERN LIGHTLY AND APPLYING TO BLANK. WHEN FINISHED CUTTING I SPRAY THE PATTERN WITH MINERAL SPIRTS AND WITHIN ..A MINUTE.. ITS LOOSE ENOUTH TO REMOVE. WIPE OFF EXCESS SPIRITS WITH RAG AND LET DRY. I ALWAYS GIVE A FEW HOURS BEFORE FINAL SANDING. TA-DA. Danny :+}
  13. TOOK MY BREATH AWAY....Simply Beautiful and the Imagine the time and Love that went into constructing, cutting and designing. You must have other talents that are in your back ground for being able to do such a Wonderful Bird Cage. Love it. Danny :+}
  14. GREAT JOB of bringing THE DUKE to life. Never heard of using a stain to make extra color, but THANKS FOR THIS TIP. I shall incorporate it in my next Portrait. You did a OUTSTANDING job of Scrolling. Danny :+}
  15. Thank You Dan for this Lesson. Know I know. Yea! One more thought. The above mentioned 50/50 mixture really, really does bring out the grain and seals the wood. Always a Lighter color. And YES.... 3 GOOD COATS of My choice. LACQUER GLOSS. Anyway................Danny :+}
  16. This is about finishes.... I have been mixing 50/50 Boiled Limseed Oil and Mineral Spirits for YEARS and I really cannot say I know the reason EXCEPT for being CHEAPER in the long run. I just finished giving a TEST. Might of been around forever, but not for me. I have always used DANISH OIL'S....Straight.... Well I gave the MIXTURE method a try and I SURE AM PLEASED. Guestimation of 60% danish oil with the 40% Spirits, ANYWAY JUST A COUPLE OF 2 CENTS WORTH.........Danny :+}
  17. Gee reading all these Wonderful Posts makes me just feel so Proud to be a part of this Scroll Saw Family. Thank Everyone for there comments and suggestions. Will take all to heart.... Well I have always thought of Sheila as the designer of all these compound cuts I have been doing. I have ordered SO, SO MANY different patterns in the past years. Sorry for incorrect advice. Danny :+}
  18. This piece is Simply Great. I agree with all. Love the clean, clear and pointed cuts. Walnut is a Great choice of wood. Your Scrolling is of a Master. Danny :+}
  19. AS YOUR USUAL....JUST BEAUTIFUL. THE DISPLAY IS GREAT ALSO. GAVE ME SOME IDEAS. THANKS....:+} I SAY SUPER AT GETTING $10.00 each. MAKES ME FEEL LIKE TACKING ON A FEW MOR BUCKS THIS YEAR. I will give it a go for the first couple hours. Thanks Dan.....................Danny :+}
  20. WAYNE..SHEILA LANDRY PATTERNS. Thanks to ALL for your meaningful comments. When I get some color or each and 3 coats of Lacquere they will LOOK GREAT. Sold them LAST YEAR for the FIRST TIME. I asked for input on a good selling price and MOST said $3 toi $4.00. I sold ALL AT $3.00. Went fast. TO ME I kind of feel with what goes into making one the price should be higher. Dan (dgman) you sell them. Whats your selling price lately? Later.............Danny :+}
  21. Hey....Here is a pic of my PROGRESS so far.... Danny :+} THE SECOND IS THE REMAINING OF THE OUTSIDE CUTTING. BIRDHOUSE JUST POPS OUT OF THE MIDDLE. Enjoy .... Danny :+} p.s.... WHAT DOES ANY READERS THINK OF COMPLETING THE OUTSIDES AND SELLING?
  22. I have ENJYOYED this subject. I have Never USED a fish tank pump. I have a 1998 modle 18" HEGNER and the billows are ORIGINAL. Still works like a Charm. I DO USE AND HAVE ALWAYS USED A MID SIZE OSCYALATING FAN THAT BLOWS FROM MY RIGHT TOWARDS THE SAW. Also have a box fan WITH filter sucking all the dust. Also works like a Charm. Just have to vaccume the filter here n there. Catches the fine dust great. My 2 cents.... Danny :+}
  23. Thanks Roly for this experience. For some reason I just CANNOT see a more agressive blade like a #3 or #5 or NEVER TRIED ANY BIGGER. cutting better than the UR#1. Turns come out almost perfect. Just a very, very Slow cutting, but have cut 15 so far and all come out so, so Smooth. Was just WONDERING all the others procedures and maybe pick up a TIP OR TWO. Hint.... Danny :+}
  24. Yes pics tell a thousand words and I read you use your shop to its fullest. Think Mom raised me to clean my mess after I make one. LOL I have thoughts that I don't clean as good as needed. Your shop makes mine look Good. Thanks for showing us. Danny :+}
  25. Hell to everyone.... I have been working on Ornaments lately and at present I am cutting LITTLE COMPOUND BIRD HOUSES. Think the patterns are from Shiela Landry. Anyway I have a Great likeing for the FD-UR #1 blade. I have been using this for ALL of these birdhouses lately. SLOW, slow.... The block is only 1.25 inches thick. 1-1/4. THE THOUGHT CAME. Yep still doing this somtimes. LOL WHAT BLADE DOES EVERYONE PREFER USING FOR THIS THICKNESS?? CUTTING STORE BOUGHT POPULAR. I must say that the lil tiny #1 blade does dull fairly fast. Use the #3 and a lil #5, but just do not like them as they just will not make that SHARP TURN needed. Anyway I would LOVE to read about all your thoughts. Danny :+}
