I don't have a lot of time for scrolling because of my job and my child.  Sort of got me wondering what do all of you great scrollers do for a living?  I'm the Director of Pulmonary at a VA hospital.

I can see why you don't have a lot of scrolling time.

i am a leak detector. My Job entails finding concealed plumbing leaks under concrete slabs. We also do gas leaks, sewer leaks, irrigation leaks and pools and spas. I usually do four jobs a day and am on call one weekend a month. I usually get home around 4:00 or 5:00 but then I do most of the cooking for our family. If I have time, I might spend an hour in the shop after dinner like I did tonight, but mostly I only the the weekend to work in the shop after I do the yard work.

Been Happily Retired for just shy of Ten Years.  I make my Schedules now.  Lots of time for my Hobby.

My Wife still works, so I maintain the inside of our home and do most of the cooking.  I am  a Happy Camper....  :+}

Like Marg, I've been the Home Administrator for a long time now :lol:.  DH likes to say he is the fund raiser and I am the appropriator. ;) I am actually a licensed attorney (which now explains to all of you my "wordiness" ;)) but decided to stay home and raise my kiddos when they came along. They are now in college. As they went to college, my mom was starting into the deep and devastating throes of Alzheimer's, she passed last year.  That is what brought me to the scroll saw actually. It was what I needed to find a place of quiet to deal with that loss as I had already lost my dad to lung cancer 26 years before. While my kids were in school, they did travel sports so between working in their schools regularly and being a "room mom" and being the "team mom" for sports, etc. and running them back and forth to school, practices, games/matches, etc. I didn't spend a lot of time actually at home.;):lol:  I'm now trying to figure out the next "stage" of my life. I'm thinking an eccentric scroll saw artist could be a good thing. :smitten: Been out of the law for too long to think that I could go back to it I think, although I have kept my license active "just in case".

I'm in forced retirement. let go at the start of the Great Recession. I'd worked in the printing industry for 44 years. I did most every job from running a folder to plant manager.....but in an era when the industry is slowly disappearing because of on-line forms, desk-top publishing, the internet blah blah blah.  I couldn't find another position. During that ugly period no one was interested in training 64 year olds. So now I do volunteer work one day a week, teach beginners chess at the senior center, earn few dollars doing custom wood working projects, and take care of the house. My sweetheart still works full time (making custom rugs for an artist).

I sell parts for heavy trucks and then go home and do 98% of the cooking.  Everyone has time challenges and sadly the saw has been getting the short side of my free time.  But, I have some patterns sitting on the table, so I'll get to them here shortly (10~14 days at this rate).

Delivery manager at a roofing supply company. Usually work 6-5, 5 days a week. I do all of the cooking but I cook 75% of our meals on the grill, so I normally sit and sand on a project while I'm waiting on my coals. When I'm not working, my time is split 50-50 between hanging out with my wife and "garage time". Unfortunately garage time doesn't always mean scroll time, mostly yard work.

In my line of work, winter time is very slow(not too many people are roofing when the snow is flying). For the first time in 12 years I am excited for the winter. The money slows down but I will have twice the time to spend on the saw. We have a friend that puts on a small fair every six months and she really wants us to set up a booth, but as of right now I would have very little inventory. I hope to change that with some extra time on the saw this winter.

I'm a loan officer at a rural credit union. I'm here from 8-5 helping people buy cars and pay bills, and helping local farmers purchase equipment and keep their operations rolling. I try to sneak out to the garage as much as possible when the wife isn't looking during evenings and weekends. I also volunteer quite a bit for the county 4-H livestock program.

MrsN I am a retired shop teacher of 40yrs. I wish you luck on the scroll saws your students will thrive on this hands on activity. I think it will be completely safe with your supervision. If they get good at it think of the puzzles or other things that can be sold as a fund raiser. I have a son that we adopted the has disabilities you describe and he absolutely loves working with his hands.

I'm a cabinetmaker for a local construction/remodel company.  I have a small wood shop that i spend my days in.  I make anything from kitchen cabinets, vanities, desks etc, to putting a handle in a shovel.   They keep me very busy, lots of trim and moldings, barn doors, anything that is needed made out of wood in the shop.  I have lots of scrap that i can bring home. lol.

Retired 2 years ago after 45 years as a pediatric nurse practitioner. Most scrolling on  weekends between normal life mowing, fixing raising 3 girls etc. Right now we are working on moving to NC from IN and my saws are there with other tools in my daughters garage. Can't wait to find a house and get moved. Have bumps in the road selling and buying but will work out eventially.

I'm an engineer and presently employed in the city's waste water department (called Division of Water Quality).  I don't work at the treatment plant, I am involved with the pump stations and pipes (Collections and Conveyance).  Despite the popular sentiment, I can truly tell you, "everyone's s*** stinks".
