  1. I use Flying dutchman and know Mike retired and Wildwood took over the business but going to Wildwood website they do not have them listed forsale. I went ot mikes web site but not sure this goes to wildwood so did not order there. Not sure of other flying dutchman sellers so wonder for sure where your getting blades. I have used FD for over 15 years so not sure I want to switch. Also I remember seeing some were not happy with the FD blades since not getting them from Mike not as sharp or something like that.
  2. I like the idea and it looks very well thought out and sturdy. I think those a American Girl dolls and yes anything for them is expensive. I have a book with patterns and how to make for these dolls and have made som beds and furniture to go with but I was not happy with this. Yours looks much better and more sturdy. Thanks for sharing.
  3. As you look at the suggested links above I have always found small easy to cut cars, trucks etc out of 2x4's is a hit for boys and girls. You will find other things they will love. I think what ever Pappy makes they will be happy.
  4. Well they are all good ideas for gifts I can see them working. I prefer the Dad tie holder personally. The pregnancy holder I think may go over well. I assume you will get the littl circle picture holders that you put and small circular photo of the ultrasound and can change as time goes on and the new born shot after birth. Just my thoughts. But I think they are great gift ideas and should work.
  5. I consider myself a hyperactive scroller. I will have 3-5 projects at any one time either scrolling or truning or something and will have requests that I will do and finisht with a dead line. I seem to work on something and if I get struck or in trouble then I can do something else to get my mind off the trouble then return and it works out better. It may be crazy but it works for me.
  6. I know I have seen groups doing this type of thing but do not remember exact name and who or where. I have even contributed a few toys made to them to help out
  7. My first thought before looking was blade size and speed but it does not look that there is burning on the edge cut. I have had Oak with the black strick in it like that but was part of the wood and grain not sure if environment cause or not but yes it will go down a ways. Having said that I notice this before I cut and of course stays there. I also see this more if the wood is older or moist place or cold weather.
  8. mineral spirits would be a good choice. I did that at first but now put something on top of the wood then the pattern sprayed with glue.
  9. I can see why you liked the pattern. you did a excellent cut on this one. At least it wasn't the one that got away
  10. Thanks Larry even if not at the show when I go out that way again we can meet some where
  11. Keep me posted. I run to Syracuse about that time of year from Indy. about 650-700 mile usual go in Mar because my dad's and my Birthday are in March. He will be 93 this year I will be a little younger. I have been making more trips there lately with illness in the family my brother, his wife and now wife passed away a week ago. I have been trying to get to Sartoga springs but does not work out right maybe this year. Last time I went there was 50 years ago. must have changed huh
  12. Yep been cutting 3D chess sets using 7 polar same thing happened. I checked the lever seemed OK slowed down did little better then cleaned with mineral spirits worked well for a while then did again noted dust blew it out is working well again. I just blame it on the gremlins.
  13. I have noticed that my blades shrink as I saw. It was driving me crazy until I saw the gremlin moving my tension nob in the rear and so when I would move to the next hole the blade would not reach to the holder and I could not tighten it down. Then I noted the white line on the tension nob would start in one place and after a time of cutting would not longer be visiable becaus it has moved on around. No I keep track of the gremlin and feed him peanut butter with the sawdust but I still have to move it back myself. Anyone else have this happening to their saw or am I the only one with a gremlin.
  14. I am a top feeder have used a dremal to start with pin in blades and don't remember the way I went but with the dewalt and ex 21 I do top feed. I have tried bottom feeding but the food was to muddy but my problem I could not shorten the learning curve and broke or bent blades every time. Therefore I decided I better stick with was was fastest and cheapest for me. By the way how do you hang your toilet tissue also know as pooper scooper. Never mind that is unresolveable just keep the seat down and all will be peaceful.
  15. just my wife and I so quiet on the Thanksgiving side. Prep the food for cooking later this afternoon. then in the shop until cook time. I am working on a chess Set with board someone ordered hope to get board together in 2 pieces to plain then put halfs together. see a friend with table saw to cut into strips to put back together again to make the checker board. I have the Chess pIeces to cut out and finsh, also other projects to get too. so busy the whole week end.
  16. Thanks for the advise, the feed sure could have been too fast I will slow down. i do tend to be pushing a little fast. I will check the alignment and check the blades. Sorry work got in the way this week so could not check the answers.
  17. I was sawing away on 3D chess piece and the tension lever kept letting go about every 5-10 strokes. this got old fast. I think I have seen it discussed here or somewhere on how to fix that. It did happen before but I did something and it stopped. However I do not remember how or what I did. Other than getting younger to remember things you do what suggestions to folks have. I did clean the little lever and was done for the day since things were going south with the wood work any way. I will try again next week end. Man I am ready to retire but got to wait a little longer. Thanks for the help
  18. If none of that works take her out on the down movie, dinner, hand holding etc. Get home and see if it will turn on . never know may work. If not at least your mind is off the problem for a while and saw a good movie, had nice dinner. Sorry I am not always all there in the head.
  19. That is quite a video. I will watch it again with the sound but was impressive in that it show making a box, inlays and dovetails. Wife is watching TV and she really gets testy if I put sound on the computer at the same time. So sound will be later. Thanks
  20. Beautiful work. I made this clock several years ago and I feel your pain when you found it on the floor. You recovered very well however and great woek.
  21. I can't help much. I am orginally from Syracuse area and have over the years seen that there may be a club in Baldwinsville or Saratoga area. You may try the SAW website to they may know. good luck
  22. I like the look better than just the regular backer. I like to do variations on the cross too. I have taken out the faith etc and put in the couples names. Take out the rose and put in a clock that one was requested. I use different bride and groom. I would never have thought of this. may try it first practice with the pencil
  23. i just was there and no trouble
  24. Larry I will try to remember next time I go to visit my dad in Liverpool. May look you up. I am in Indy presently so I got about half the way to Portland done.
  25. Today was horrible. I rained so no can do yard work, gradening, filling in low spot in the yard or get deck ready to stain.. So I had to work in the shop darn It! Well it was ruff but somebody had to do it. Hope you did not have that bad of a day. If you did wipe that smile off your face so the wife doesn't know your are not disappointed you couldn't work on the honey do list.
