    I posted this on another site, thought all would like to know that there are business people out ready to serve us. I just wanted everyone to know about my recent purchase from QTE North America. I ordered the new Pagas Head Clamp Set for my ailing EX-21 on 1/19 and was excited to receive them in about a week. When I opened the box, my excitement waned because I noticed that I was sent the wrong set of clamps and my saw is pretty much out of service. I called QTE this morning (FRI.), and received the best customer service I have ever experienced. I spoke with Richard Boehl and he immediately knew what my problem was and couldn't apologize enough. Rich quickly looked up my order and promised to ship out the correct set quickly, well in less then an hour, I got an e-mail that said my clamp set was on the way to the east coast via express mail, and I should expect them in a few days.I would highly recommend that anyone who needs or wants Pegas parts, to purchase from QTENorth America, INC. www.Qtena.com Rick

    Paul, I was in the picture framing business for about 20 years and loved every minute of it. As you mentioned, LOGAN is a good name for products for the home framer and the mat cutter that Scott has will serve you well for many years. The big trick, just as in scrolling, is to use only the best sharp blades you can find. Depending on the thickness of the mat board you are going to cut, you should have a few differnt thickness blades available. I own a Fletcher-Terry professional mat cutter, but that is only because I purchased it for my business and used it successfully before leasing my computerized mat cutter. I also use the Fletcher -Terry Point driver for securing the framing package into the frame, both of the tools i mentioned are very expensive and in my opinion more that the home framer would need. I kept both of the tools because I continue to frame professionaly at home. Good luck with your venture, I'm sure you will enjoy the sense of instant gratification when you look at the finish product. Best of luck in the new year.

    I had CT surgery performed on my left hand about 30 years ago. I another life, I owned a custom picture framing business and every day I used to cut mat boards on a manual cutter, I got to the point where I couldn't hold a pencil. I went to a hand specialist to do the surgery, and he told me thatI should stay away from repetative cutting strokes for 3 months, but since there was no one else to run the shop, it was a NO CAN DO situation. I started cutting mats again after about 4 days and the surgery only lasted for about a year...not the doctors fault, it was my fault. After that episode, I invested in a computerized mat cutter and that worked out well. Bottom line, try to do what the doctor advises. Hope your recovery is complete.

    Thank you to all who took their time to contribute to this worthy cause, and Thank You Travis for putting this effort together. My wife, Ann Marie volunteers at an organization that send meals to families that are affected by cancer. I just finished cutting and oiling 75 ornaments to include in the deliveries sometime in December. Even though I don't agree with this politcally correct nonsense, I tried very hard not to OFFEND anyone by not concentrating soley on my Christian beliefs. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all or the best of the season to those who prefer.

    I just finished a piece made from Sapele for my wife, she sews fabric pinwheels that we bring to local nursing homes. Sapele is a very nice wood to work with, and I think it is the Mahogany family. I will try to post a picture. I hope it works. Ornament stand

    CharleyL, thank you for the information but I don't need help with scrolling, I am attempting to learn Inkscape. Dave, thank you for your help. I imported the image just as you said, but I didn't have any luck with it. I couldn't spend a lot of time on it this morning because I had an appointment, but I will try again later.

    Well here goes, another Inkscape question. Does an image have to be a PDF to be able to work on it in Inkscape? My niece asked me to cut a piece for her daughter who is a swimmer in high school sports. She sent me the image, but it needs some work to be useful for me. I got as far as importing it into Inkscape, but couldn't get the program to outline the image, I looked in the university section but honestly did not read the complete package. I am going to attempt to attach the file here so you can see what I'm trying to do, if someone knows the wat a complete computer idiot can do this I would appreciate the help. Thank you in advance.     Hi to all. I'm cutting a puzzle from a calendar picture for a very good friend. They have a place down on the Jersey shore that we are invited to every year and we are as generous as they allow us to be when we are there. This Christmas I would like to give them a puzzle of the beach picture I found and I am trying to incorporatethe letters LBI, for LONG BEACH ISLAND, somewhere in the puzzle. Obviously, the L and the I are not a problem, I can't come up with a good way to cut the B. The letters don't have to be next to each other, I would prefer to scatter them across the image. I can't seem to find the correct font that will allow me to cut the letter B. Thanks for any help.

    We definitely didn't learn enough. If everyone can remember, we became a united country that day, we all helped each other anyway we could. 17 years later, we are a country where HATE is running rampant...where did all the love go. I think we all know the answer to that. Please take a minute and remember the 3,000 lost souls and the responders who continue to die every day because they gave the ultimate gift of love. THANK YOU.

    Thank you Ray & Jerry for the quick replys. I noticed that the author is working on a new version, but has no release date. Jerry, it maybe because I am using a mac, but I don't get anything that resembles a gear shape and if I did it would probably print for the next week. Ray, I am a PRIME member, so I will be purchasing the book on Amazon. Thank you both again.

    HI Ray, Can you PLEASE share how you are going to print the information that you want. I am sooo computer illiterate that it hurts, I'm using a Mac with Safari and I am not able to get this to print for me. I then went to see about purchasing the book and it seems that the book is no longer available. Thanks for your help.

    Dick, This box is based on an article I saw in WOOD magazine, I think. My friend has that article and I copied it. I adjusted the siz because it looked too big to me and I needed it smaller so it wouls fit on my wife's dressing table.

    Good morning everyone, Thank you so much for the generous replies. * oldhudson...it is in fact a lift off top, I removed about 1/8 of an inch of material, 1 1/8 wide, all around the perimeter so it would be guided into position. * The corners are mitered, my initial intention was to put some splines on the corners using the same material as the legs and handles, but I thought that the box would begin to look too busy, and I didn't want anything to take away from the Birdseye Maple. * You have a very trained eye, the box itself is about 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 outside dimension, with the legs applied, the size is about 5 x7 * The handles are not glued on at all. I drilled and countersunk four holes through the lid and installed two brass screws in each handle through the bottom, this will allow me to take off the brass rod and polish it if need be. I will try to get some pictures with the top off and post them soon.

    Hi everyone, I just wanted to show you a gift I made for my wife's birthday. Ann Marie turned 65 years young on Easter Sunday, so I wanted something special fro her to go along with her presents. It's a jewelry/trinket box made form Birds Eye Maple and the legs and handle are made from Spanish Cedar. The piece between the two handles is 1/4 inch brass rod, I also used the brass rod to offset the arched legs of the box. I hope I can post pictures. Thanks for looking.

    Hey Pete, that's a real nice Facebook page, your work is outstanding. Would you sharing where you got the HEART pattern you cut for the wedding present? We are going to a wedding ceremony for two really nice young people who are attending seminary school and I think that cutting would be very nice for them.

    Hi, I just ran across the site of all the Russian fret pieces and I am wondering if I might be missing something that's obvious. There are a few pieces that I would be interested in in cutting, but I can't find a way to either copy or download the plans. If someone out there knows how to do this, please share this information.     Hi Patty, Welcome to Scroll Saw Village. Before you realize it, you are going to be hooked so get ready to make a bunch of saw dust. To address your question, someone on one of the other sites suggested drilling a series of holes in line using the smallest drill bit you can and then insert the saw blade on it's thinnest axis which is the thickness of the blade. The distance from the teeth of the blade to the back spine of the blade is the widest axis. I hope this is clearer then it sounds, because I tried it and it works. Veining is no longer a painful chore.
