  1. Thank you for the update on editing my messages.
  2. Sorry, I don't know how to edit a text. The product mentioned on the first line of the second paragraph should be Z-BAR, and it is extruded, not exruded.
  3. I am not aware of any formula or ratio concerning the use of Z-BAR. We always make the piece that is attached to the frame longer than the one on the wall, so there will be room for horizontal adjustment. ex. on an 11 by 14 frame, I would cut the piece for the frame at 9 inches and the piece that is attached to the wall at 6 inches. We have never run into a problem if there was no wall stud to hit with a screw, the modern day dry wall screw anchors will hold a lot of weight. You are correct, this is identicle to thr FRENCH CLEAT system except, the X-BAR is exruded out of Aluminum, so can be much thinner. We do use the french cleat system when needed, for instance, we just completed a job for a local fraternal organization that has 80 pictures of their past presidents, we used Oak for the custom frame and product called OPTIUM by TRU-VUE, which is probably the best acrylic glazing avaiable. Finished product weighed about 70 lbs. Sorry for the long post. I hope I answered your questions. Rick
  4. Hi everyone, I am a professional picture framer, have been for 23 years, and I stopped using wire between hangers, I never used sawtooth hangers. For the past 13 years we have only used a product called Z-BAR, I purchase 500 feet at a time from my supplier, it is not cheap, but neither is my framing, so I want the framed pieces that leave my shop to look as best as they can in my clients home. Home Depot has a product called HANG MAN if anyone would like to try this method, I think you can get up to 16 inch pieces, which is more than enough for an 8 x 10 frame, verticle or horizontal. When we frame small pieces of needle work, we make our own hangers. At the risk of offending someone, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, and a Blessed & Healthy NEW YEAR
  5. Thanks again Kevin. I'm going to play around on the CRICUT cutter and then order the pattern set, I probably won't be able to get all the words to fit around the circle, but that gives us the chance to choose the wording for the patient. I wish you PEACE & GOOD HEALTH !
  6. Kevin, thank you for the response. I may look at purchasing the pattern and doing the the recipient specific text using vinyl that can be cut on the CIRCUT.
  7. Kevin, you did an outstanding job on that ornament, thanks for sharing. In the picture, you have the piece on an easel, could you please say what size the outer diameter is? My wife and I volunteer at an organization that supplies meals to families of patients suffering from cancer, this may be something we could include with their first delivery. SORRY, I didn't mean to hijack this thread. Rick
  8. Hey Dan, nice job on the Bank truck, I really like the way youpersonalized it. Until recently, I have made one for each new member of the family and I would like to continue that tradition, since each of my nieces & nephews would like to have one for their new arrivals. I can no longer find the post office mail doors and was wondering if you can still ordr them, would you please share your source. Thanks Rick
  9. Hi Don, if you are willing to share these, I would like to cut them and use them for seating cards at our Christmas Dinner. THANK YOU foryour generosity. Rick

  11. Jim, fantastic pattern, I have been to the memorial many times. The eyes's say it all. Thanks for sharing. Rick
  12. Kris, every pattern you make seems to be better than the last one, once again that is the case this time. Yourchoice of plywood panel really emphasizes the movement in the image. Thanks, as always, for sharing. Rick
  13. Kris, when Ann Marie and I had our Gallery/Frame Shop, we carried Terry Redlins work and his work was probably the best seller in our shop. We were invited to one of his opening shows by his publisher and we met Terry personally, he was a very humble man. I'm sure he would have loved your version of the artwork, you did a great job on the design. Thanks for sharing. Rick
  14. Very generous of you Jim, to share all your patterns with us. Your patterns are very well done and are a joy to cut. A BIG thank you to you.
  15. Hey Scott, I remember those days myself, and if BIG BLUE could have found a way to bring that up to 7 hours, they may have been able to remain the megalith that they were instead of a ghost of what they used to be. I hope I didn't hijack this post Rick
  16. WOW You outdid yourself again, that is an unbelieveable pattern Kris. Thanks for giving us a look. HAPPY NEW YEAR to you & everyone you love Rick
  17. Real nice job on those ,John. Wondering what you would alter on the pattern. I too would love to cut some of these for some pretty little nieces who think uncle Ricky is friends with Santa himself. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you John, and to all the the forum family..... stay safe and pound a few down.
  18. Jim, Thank you for your generousity of sharing the patterns, they surely portray the true REASON FOR THE SEASON. I will attempt to do these beautiful patterns justice as soon as I catch up ti=o my work schedule. A BLESSED Merry Christmas to you and your family. Rick
  19. Hey Kevin, would you mind sharing information on where you get your padded envelopes? Looks like you had a great holiday season. Thanks foe sharing. Rick
  20. Hey Kevin, have gotten 3/32" aviation plywood at our local MICHAEL'S. It is sold under the name of REVEL Company, I use it to cut out book marks. I haven't had to purchase any for a while, so I don't know if they still carry it or what th price would be. When I purchasd the plywood, it came in 9 x 11 inch sheets. Good Luck! Rick
  21. I did not post here very often, because I usually would be repeating things already said, but this time I am sad to say, I also will miss the exchanges of Les. He was a skilled mechanic in many hobbies, and he shared it all with us. GOD BLESS YOU LES, we know you are at peace now. Rick
  22. Nice job on both of these patterns. Always dreamed of having a Corvette, now that I can afford one, my 75 year old body would let me get into it....but I my wife would have to call the fire rescue department to peel me out of there. Is the emblem a layered cut? I couldn't tell from the picture.
  23. GREAT pattern Kris, your work is always outstanding. With all that is happening in the world right now, we could all use some of GOD'S abundance love. Thanks for sharing.
  24. Great pattern Jim, especially with what is happening in the news today. So many young kids killed in vain. My niece was over in the desert for 2 tours, THANK GOD she came back in one piece . Thanks for sharing.
  25. Great job Joe. I really like the Easter eggs, do you know who the designer is ? Thanks for sharing. Rick
