  1. RESET You're correct, the last thing you need is Z-BAR or a french cleat. Hanger and wire is the way to go. Rick
  2. Kevin, in a former life---in a distant galaxy ( sorry, I couldn't pass that opportunity up), I owned and operated a very succesful picture frame / art gallery business. We offered an option to hand purchases for our customers and to this day I operate my business from my home shop. We hung mirrors that weighed up to 80 Lbs and we used a product call Z-Bar. This no more than a metal version of a french cleat system that has been around for a long time. The idea is that one piece of the hanger gets attached to the wall, hope fully using the wall studs, and the other piece gets attached to the artwork and then gets locked into the piece on the wall. I purchase this product from my picture framing suppliers, it is also available from United Manufacturers. Hope this was helpful and not confusing. Best to you Rick
  3. What a nice job you did on those boxes. You are a true artisan. Thanks for sharing Rick
  4. Les, a million years ago , I used to work with a master trim carpenter, his job was to install/make the moulding in big homes. He was self employed and hired out to builders, he didn't want anyone to tell him how and what to do. Anyway, he used a variation of the spring clamps you are talking about, he called them "BOINGS", because if they weren't seated on the joint correctly, they would spring off and be flying all over the place. Not a pleasant man to work for, but he was my mom's brother and when uncle Carmine needed help, he got it. What goes around, comes around.
  5. WOW, again. Your work is always well thought out and the end product is superb. Thanks for sharing! Rick

  7. WOW Kris, you hit the bull's eye with this one. Great job, I'm sure your wife will love it. Rick
  8. I never did care for saw tooth hangers, they're utilitarian, but there are much better ways to hang things. Like Denny, in my business, we do use some "D" hangers and coated picture frame wire, but for anything bigger that a standard 8" x 10" frame we use a product called "Z BAR". We purchase it in bulk from one of our framing suppliers, but recently, we were in homedoppie and saw a product that is very similar but is available in single use packages.
  9. Another outstanding pattern Kris, your artist skills are fantastic. Surely, your pastor will be very pleased with the outcome. MERRY CHRISTMAS Rick
  10. Another piece of artwork from Dick. Beautiful job!

  13. My wife, Ann Marie, volunteers at a local organization that supplies cooked meals to families’ of cancer victims on a weekly basis. Every year she talks me into supplying a handcrafted Christmas ornament for the folks and their families to maybe bring some joy to them. These are the 6 ornaments for 2020, stack cut and hand painted a total of 75 pieces. We had to be careful to not offend anyone with our religious beliefs, which I was willing to do…but I refused to call them holiday ornaments. The ornaments were packaged separately in glassine envelopes, and each family will receive one next Monday with their meal delivery. Thanks for looking. Rick This is what I wanted my originalpost to look like. Thanks again for looking. We hope everyone stays SAFE and enjoy your Christmas. 2020 Sparrow's Nest Ornaments
  14. Sorry folks, don't know what happened to the pictures???? Will try again.

  16. Great job on the Merry Christmas plaque Charlie. Would love to try that pattern, can you remember where you saw it on PINTREST? Thanks for sharing. Rick
  17. Convert black line to RED stroke in Inkscape Today, 11:04 PM I posted this topic on another scroll saw forum and got 2 responses. I couldn't get the one pertaining to inkscape to work and I did not try the other program, more importantly, good ole MAGIC FINGARS hit something that prevents me from entering a thank you to the 2 persons who tried to help me. Hi everyone, I purchased the Sue Mey "Modern Style" Nativity set and I am experiencing some difficulty following the black lines, can some one guide me thru the process of changing the black lines to red ones. I was due to have my first cataract removed on Dec. 3, but thanks to the craziness going on right now, our local hospitals have canceled all elective surgery, I have to admit that I didn't expect this to be elective, but... Anyway, I was able to load inkscape on my Apple Mac and I imported the the patterns that I purchased from Sue, but I can't change the stroke from black to red. I saved the file pattern as a PDF, but that did'nt help me. I have said this to you folks before, after I press the power on button on the computer, my confidence level takes a dive and all the uTube video's in the world do not seem to help. Thanks in advance if anyonr is brave enough to try to lead me through my dilemma. HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all, including our Canadian friends. We hope to take some time this year especially, to consider what we are THANKFUL for.
  18. Thank you for all the nice responses. They are fun to do and everyone waits for their new version. Rick
  19. This is our 2020 Christmas card that we send out to 36 friends and family members. This tradition was started due to our good friend ROLF, who so graciously showed his beautiful Volker Arnold ornaments that he mails out and my wife saw his post 3 years ago and the rest is history. The Christmas sentiment was composed and printed by Ann Marie and I supplied the scrolled ornament. The image is a reduced version of a pattern I found on Scroll Saw Village many years ago, I apologize for not remembering the designers name and the fact that my computer skills are so bad that I am not able to find that information. Unfortunately, this may be the last year that we mail these Christmas greetings, because the postal rate has increased so high, that it is almost prohibited. We purchased 3M bubble bags and I cut pieces of left over mat board to protect the ornament when it the stamps are canceled, last year that didn’t work, and many of the ornaments were damaged. One of the postal workers I went to speak to about last years problem suggested that I print “FRAGILE” on the envelope…Yea right, that’ll work. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for looking. Everyone BE WELL & STAY SAFE, Rick

  24. Outstanding work Kris. You certainly did a great job on both the design and the execution of these two patterns. I was honored to cut your design of "THE IRON HORSE & THE BABE", and I can't wait to cut these patterns. Our retired pastor, a priest of 55 years will be very happy o receive these. THANK YOU for your sharing your God given talents. Rick
