  1. I have the Rigid sander. I hate to think what it would be like to sand the bowls that I make without it. I love it and it has a warranty that can't be beat.
  2. Very nice Dan.
  3. Thanks everybody. My wife is awesome at making clothes and other things but has never quilted. She is going to take a quilting class and talked me into taking it with her. I have never sown before so the seam ripper is for me. I think it will come in very handy.lol
  4. Made a seam ripper today.
  5. Very nice Dave.
  6. I might have to try some.
  7. Awesome job on both parts Kris. Curious what blade you used to cut it.
  8. Great job. I have always liked the El Camino. I read where Chevy is going to bring them back.
  9. I will let you all know how I do. I won't know until around the superbowl.
  10. I am just cutting pine for now. I plan on using some hard wood at a letter date to make a bowl. What would be a good blade for cutting out some purple heart 3/4" thick.
  11. I will have to look for them online. I don't remember seeing them at Woodcraft.
  12. Sorry all three blades are Olson.
  13. Wasn't sure where to put this. I went to Woodcraft to buy a few things and was talking to one of the guys. I asked him when they were going to have a sale on lathes. He told me they had a Jet on sale. It is the 16-42. Regular $2500 for $1900 and some change. Very nice variable speed lathe for a great price but out of my range right now. He asked me if I make bowls because they are having a contest. I told him I didn't make them on a lathe only a scroll saw. He said that was fine there is a scroll saw division. So I made this bowl and entered it. The prizes are $50 gift cert for the best bowl and $25 gift cert for each division winner.
  14. I was using some small blades to cut out my bowls. They were hard to control so I bought some Olson crown tooth blades to try. They cut nice, we're very easy to control and almost didn't need to sand after but cut too slow. I just bought some Olson Mach Speed Univ 5R blades. Haven't had a chance to try them yet.
  15. I agree with the 3 or 5. If you have any fine detail then get some smaller just for that.
  16. Good for you for getting them started.
  17. Mine is like this one. Had it a long time still works great.
  18. I like it a lot too. Thanks for the link.
  19. Thanks for the tip. I will try that when I use a flat blade again. I started with the smallest spirals you can buy so I never had that problem until I tried a flat blade.
  20. I also voted for #1.
  21. I use the FD new 3/0 spiral blades on just about everything. When cutting fretwork I stack three pieces of 1/4" plywood. After cutting a piece and taking it out it still fits in pretty tight. A little bit of sanding after it's cut and it's done. Not a lot to clean up after cutting with the spiral.
  22. The company I used to work for was in Sandpoint ID. They closed the warehouse there because we could ship faster to the West coast from West Virginia than they could. Especially in the winter.
  23. Northern Idaho is not a cheap place to live. I spent a month in Sandpoint Idaho but it is a tourist town so it might be expensive because of that. I know they do get a lot of snow up there so I hope it doesn't affect their shipping too much.
  24. Very nice Jerry.
  25. Dan that is awesome. I really like the way you made the golf ball.
