  1. A star is born and you're it WOW I thought I was crazy for doing repetitious work you really need to find a hobby Kevin but I'm glad to see you haven't lost your touch after 5 months
  2. Thanks Marg, nope it wasn't the hardest thing I cut it was actually fairly simple just a lot of cuts and a bad pattern design none of the pieces fit together I had to either make new tabs or cut the tabs off altogether and just glue it instead but I down loaded the pattern of some Egyptian site with out instruction and free (you get what you pay for) but as for the cut it was fun. I rather cut 1 large item then 50 bunnies so it all balances it self out there is no more patients required.
  3. 22" tall and about 6" at the base roughly 2000 cuts
  4. Kevin sounds like we did the same one nothing fit I made new tabs to fit some and others I cut the tabs off all together and just glued it together but it was a nightmare but still a fun project. mine is 22" tall also. Thank you as always your words are to kind.
  5. very nicely finished they look like they are really rusting away, well done
  6. I use the dremel plunge router and won't do without it often I don't even bother with the drill press as the dremel is so easy to use besides you can't fit those real tiny bits in your drill press I say take the plunge no pun intended and buy a dremel plunge router
  7. buen trabajo que su país está orgulloso de ello
  8. I've used Iron on stencils but I find if you transfer them to paper first then to the wood it works better but don't stick the iron-on to the wood to use as template as its all backwards ( learned the hard way)

    Wood Toxicity Chart

One of the ones you rarely see here on these chart is common plywood in this case it's not so much the wood dust you need to concern yourself with as it is the glue one of the ingredients of the glue is formaldehyde I know my self when I'm cutting a lot of plywood my lips go numb that is a sure sign of formaldehyde poisoning. so do be careful of this product I also understand in the latest news they are about to introduce plastic in between layers of plywood for more strength and durability that should go over well with the environmental movement. Anyways just wanted to alert you to the plywood hazards, safe cutting.
  10. AaaH we all have a bad day once in a while, if we didn't we wouldn't know what a good day felt like.

    new guy

Hello Tom welcome to the village, practice practice practice my suggestion is for you to practice with a piece of scrap wood use a ruler and draw straight lines on it and cut all of them until your comfortable, then with a compass draw circles and do the same now change to a spiral blade and try all that over again and you'll never scroll again. Oh what am I saying just get a picture of a bunny or something simple and go for it you'll make some mistakes but there is no set rules for scroll sawing everyone uses what ever is comfortable for them. Remember ones you remove that pattern you'll be the only one that will know your mistakes. A good scroller is not the one who is flawless in his work but the one who hides it best. just have fun, relax and make sawdust.
  13. So we all know how many we have, now how many are we going to cut? how many should we keep? how many have we cut? Questions questions questions I say just keep adding more in to the file maybe one day, you can share them with someone, say a grandson takes up the hobby/habbit it would be a treasure to find on your computer.
  14. Hi Skip welcome back to the group I used to live outside of Toronto Canada and made several trips to Buffalo nice country but thats all in the past I now live in Scroll world I'm totally addicted but like you am retired and have nothing better to do with my time. I give most of my stuff away and do sell the odd piece to replenish my wood supply and blades. I would love to see some of your work Skip when you get time to post a picture. Well got to run, I'm on a mission to find some decent wood today in a land that doesn't grow real trees. Hope to hear more from you Skip.

Thanks to Paul/ Grampa for designing the pattern of my friends little Dookie who was run over last night I'm sure she'll be overwhelmed by this as it looks so much like the real thing its scary. Thanks everyone who pitched in to ease the pain of loosing a little loved one.

  19. Thanks Ron can't get to much fruit in it maybe 2 apples I think it would be nice on a set table with a lacy white doily in it and some slices of bread or biscuits.

  21. Roly Don't feel bad I'm sure that 99% of us can't hold candle to this guy, not saying our work is bad it's just this guy is at another level, perhaps even a league of his own. but no matter how you look at People look at our work with amaze cause they'll never see that other guys work. I think we may have to have him removed from facebook so we don't look so bad.
  22. Nice work Dan I think a Deft semi gloss finish would be great.
  23. Now I've tried and am known to do some of the smallest pieces but this guy takes the cake his work is fascinating and totally out of this world, I can't help but encourage him in his success. Check him out on facebook. www.facebook.com/NAHHAT.Fatih.TOPATAN/photos
