  1. Lovely ,Letters are excellent detailed,finely !
  2. Thats all cut angles I cut to try to get sunburst effect put together to make the main piece before segmenting and adding the additional straight grained pieces for the beak and eyes etc ! The elk was all angles ,could not stand the stress on tiny pieces after cuts from pattern ,I bought a quart of pour epoxy glaze like they use on bar tops, but decided size of separations would show up too much !Next time I may coat blank first on both sides with it and then cut and shape and then finish ,I think that would keep everything together ! I did save the Elk ,varnished and mounted on the wall over my computer screen w/velcro on the wall. I learned a lot in the total process !
  3. I did a screaming eagle ,segmentation this way and it work out OK not nearly the fine detail and thin sections ,I did save the elk by its self velcrowed over my screen of the computer ,all the angle pcs. glued together to form the main pc alters the stress points of the different areas they came from to make tedious process ,by itself altering colors etc. I should have known it would be problematic .

  9. Are you left handed or right handed ? Only when I angle cut ,do I reverse and that is because I don't want to screw up the angle depending on which way I want that piece to wedge in or out on the same piece . Except with spirals then I go every which way ,depending on the piece with no tilt !

  17. I am with , Doug ,The closer to the source ,the more dust I can catch ,I want to vac the dust ,Blowing ,gets it out of your blade sight area ,thats the only good part .The effect it has otherwise putting that talcum power dust airborne is the MAJOR down side . When you have to stop and clean you mask or glasses should tell you ,wipeing the paste out of your eyes in the morning should be proof !

  22. I have no plans to change ,Mostly I think it's a discussion ,Started by a question about saw's advertised as top loading capable ,and what makes the difference , Non-fixed or floating upper arm ,to provide clearance to leave blade fixed in the upper arm for extraction and re-entry from the top .Mine has it but I still have my reasons for bottom loading .Thats important MY REASONS and YOUR REASONS . I comb the hair on my frog different than some SO WHAT he's my frog !! He has no plans to enter a beauty contest that I am aware of ,or a look alike compation !!
  23. Just for quick clamping !
  24. If you are handy ,and I say If ,The wear items are replaceable , plenty of good videos on what and how to do exist .parts are readily available .there are very few advantages to a New saw over a type one using a quality lube during rebuild should out last new w/poor lubes provided on all new saws .Type 2 had their own issues "warped tables etc." when they first came out ,must be a dam good design or would not have been copied and sold today ! Still a lot of type 1's under current use .I have one , I feel sure type 2 has gotten all the bugs out by now ,other then the cheapest lube they can use . The main difference was the point of mfg. and getting tooling right gave type 2 a bad rap . The fact the big copy cat made few very few changes and uses same parts speaks volumes about the design . Look at all the other mfgr.'s changes and and aborted designs in the same period . especially the high dollars saws .JMHO
  25. Means when you detect and issue ,stop ,pushing or pulling ,listen for sound changes look for the cause ,loose tension ,jammed saw dust ,dull blade ETC! something is a miss .or keep on and wish you had not ! It's up to you ,I have tried both ways the second one SUCKS. That's my opinion and it's worth twice what you paid for it !
