  1. Use pieces. I am not much of a wood worker but with plans, I could have probably made one of these. Maybe some day I might do that if my grandkids start having children. Dick heppnerguy
  2. There is also a place on line called Thin Boards that has a nice variety of thin woods for sale. The nice thing about them is they only charge $7.50 for shipping, no matter how much wood you get. It does take about 10 days to get your order but the cost of Shipping really helps, especially if you are ordering quite a bit of wood. I use Sloan's wood working for Baltic Birch if I am not buying I am not buying locally. Dick heppnerguy
  3. I try to make an effort to meet anyone that is on the Village when ever I can. We always seem to become instant friends. Nice to meet someone that has the same interests as you. Dick heppnerguy
  4. I know, We do not get to our beautiful coast very often, I am sad to say, but if we ever do get your way, we should get together. I would love to meet you and see in person, your wonderful shop. I remember seeing it in one of your posts. What a great shop you have. Dick heppnerguy
  5. fun to see your work. I really enjoy the patterns you cut here. keep them coming Dick heppnerguy
  6. Looking great... keep posting and making sawdust. There is nothing wrong with this one... People like their names in wood, probably better than anything else. Start making them as gifts for family and friends and watch their reaction, Dick heppnerguy
  7. Originality is always top of the line,in my opinion. coming up with ideas is my most difficult thing to do. i just do not seem to be able to think outside the box. Your work is outstanding. so glad you post what you do for all of us to enjoy Dick heppnerguy
  8. OK no one has put in any bad comments so I will be honest and send this one to you............The only really, really bad thing about the fire pit and the swing is...............................that you didn't come to my house and make it for us..... All kidding aside. I really like both the fire pit and the swing. If I was to make something as nice as those at our house, I would probably be elevated so high by my wife that she might never expect me to do another thing around the house Dick heppnerguy
  9. nice little clock. I have to say that I use Alder a lot and I really like it..It has nice tight grain and I have never had any problems with it, myself. If you are taking the photos with your phone try rotating it 1/4 turn and see what happens.. Dick heppnerguy
  10. Not long before you have cut so many pieces you will have no idea how many you have cut.. I love that you used a pattern made for another medium Dick heppnerguy
  11. nice use of those cat patterns. I would never had thought to incorporate them into a clock..Very attractive Dick heppnerguy
  12. Paul, (Scrappile) came to Heppner today and we met for lunch with my wife and daughter. we spent about 3 hours together. I showed him my shops, gave him some wood and worked a little on pattern making. My wife is having cataracts removed from her eyes, one this week and one next week, so I am able to spend a little more time with Paul, as the eye surgeon is in the area that Paul lives. I really enjoy spending time with him, as he is a prince of a person and has become a good friend of mine. Thanks Paul, for coming all the way to Heppner, just to spend some time with my wife, daughter and myself. Sorry, no photos. Dick heppnerguy
  13. Very nicely done. Some day I hope to be able to make patterns as well as you do...I love this one,as I do all of your work Dick heppnerguy
  14. John, good work. I also liked this pattern and I have one hanging in our kitchen. It gets it's share of comments and laughs as I am sure yours will also Dick heppnerguy
  15. I remember how it made me feel when my wedding boxes were published. It makes one feel rather special. But then YOU ARE SPECIAL. You have helped so many people to understand so many things about scrolling. We all appreciate all you do. Congratulations for this new publication of your work Dick heppnerguy
  16. Roly, you are a brave man. I really had to laugh at Scrappiles quote. Some times I cut things that I don't really would want to because of customer's requests. The guy that bought this. From you is either a brave man or a dead man, now Dick heppnerguy
  17. Jim, not sure how you come up with so many wonderful ideas, but i do know they magically turn into gold for you.. Very cool box. Looks like a fun try. Dick heppnerguy
  18. I bet by now, you have this all repaired and found you had no need for worry. It also looks like a grain separation and that does happen. It is a really nice piece and because it is for an anniversary of yours, you want it perfect.. After gluing it, it is most likely 'as good as new' , so they say Dick heppnerguy
  19. I trust the knowledge of Len. He only talks about things that he knows about. I have never found him to put out anything questionable. I have not stained any BB Ply that I remember of but if I were to do so, I would follow Len's suggestion Dick heppnerguy
  20. I will post it upon completion in the Bragging Rights forum Dick hepppnerguy
  21. Welcome from not far from the other Portland, the one in Oregon.. You are off to a flying start.. Making things for the wife is what makes all my scrolling worth the most to me. nice piece Dick heppnerguy
  22. Amber, I too send you a welcome from Eastern Oregon. I have been scrolling for about 5 years and I am just now starting to try my hand at pattern making. it is a fun endeavor but I find I made a not of mistakes along the way.. but i think I am slowly catching on. good luck with your efforts and remember you do not have to do it alone. We are here for you. Dick heppnerguy
  23. Brady, I too am from the North West. I live in Eastern Oregon and I too hope to some day have an opportunity to meet you. Scrappile and I have been friends for about a year and enjoy the chance to get together every once in awhile. Tell us what brand of scroll saw you have and the blade you are using on your cross. You chose a good pattern to start with. We all started at the same spot and found that things progressed pretty fast as we went from one project to another. You will too. Glad to have you with us Dick heppnerguy
  24. I am happy to post my work in progress. My wife had cataract surgery today and a follow up tomorrow so I will probably be out of my shop until Friday. but here is how far I have gotten so far.. a few more pieces to cut and shape and then it should go together fairly quickly Dick heppnerguy
  25. Great plaque and well cut.. I love Fish's patterns.. i have many that are constantly tugging at me to cut them... I will some day.. Dick heppnerguy
