  2. Marg, I know i intended to take a photo and then time and discussion let to other things and it completely slipped my mind.. Next time, though... Dick heppnerguy
  3. I had you in mind as one of my stops this time but we had a crisis develop at home and had to come back early so i was not able to met with you this time. I even had your phone number in my pocket. Hopefully it won't be too long before we can make that happen. Dick
  4. welcome to The Village. come back often and share your work with us. Be sure and go all over this place and even check out the posts from the past. there is too much to even find it all but it is a wonderful community of people that hang our here and we are always welcoming everyone that is interested in being here too Dick heppnerguy
  5. Welcome come in make yourself at home... we love new member to our scroll saw family. as you have discovered by now, our family stretches all over the world. some come often to The Village while others only drop in occasionally. I hope you are here often so that you will feel that you too have an extended family of fun and some talented people. Any questions about anything come to mind, then ask away. I know that I am constantly amazed at all the knowledge that lives within our family here Dick heppnerguy
  6. Welcome Andy. I hope you find the saw that is right for you and for your budget. it sounds to me like you have some good input on saws already.I will leave that part alone and just say to you, that once you are ready to make some sawdust, don't forget our community of scrollers found right here on The Village. In the mean time, keep checking around this pace and you will e surprised at all the wonderful things that lay within it's boundaries. Come back often so we can get to know you better Dick heppnerguy
  7. a nicely done piece. I am going to have to cut that one too. It is truly a nice pattern and you did a great job with it Dick heppnerguy
  8. On Monday, I was in the Portland area and I made arrangement to have lunch with our illustrious leader, Travis. We spent about an hour together, getting to know each other and talking, yes you guessed it, scrolling. I thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity and found Travis to be as likable and cordial as I expected him to be. He told me one thing that really surprised me and that was; he said I was the only person that he had met personally from The Village. Hoping to see him again on my next Portland visit and I hope to convince him to come to our house with his family some time too. Dick heppnerguy
  9. very very nice. I can even sing that one because there as so many flats in it and that is how I sing best. Dick heppnerguy
  10. Robbert, You did a remarkable job with the additions of your background on Steve Good's patterns. They look great. A cool idea on the Michael Jackson one too. and of course the invisible man was hilarious. I only have one comment on it and you must have been in a hurry on that one because you missed way to many fuzzies on that one. Looks like the ones I do Dick heppnerguy
  11. It is a little town, I do get orders here all the time. No competition I guess. I get a lot of orders from other states too. It mostly comes as a result of my Facebook page or something they have seen of mine at my house. My goal is to generate just enough money to buy my supplies. so far, it has well exceeded that goal. I love the requests but they do sometimes get in the way of just doing what I am trying to get to. A lot of my own things too, like wedding presents and birthdays come along steadily, where I give away what I make as gifts. I love that part the best Dick heppnerguy
  12. I downloaded a pattern of the Kitty Hawk and found that it was not a very good pattern and the details on it were very abstract and difficult to really figure out so I just left it and forgot about it. I ran across it a couple of days ago and decided I would try it anyway. It took a lot of fooling with but I got it together, kind of. It is about 4 inches long and the wing span is about 4 inches. i have always wanted to make a replica of it and this was the best I could find. Maybe down the road I will remake the pattern so I can make it larger and more precise, but for now, this will have to do, I guess. Dick heppnerguy
  13. I am overwhelmed with projects. I can't finish one before I have two more to do . Right now I had 2 wedding crosses to finish and then I got an order for 4 custom boxes and I am in the finishing stages of those and I a get an order for 2 bay crosses and I just can't get to my tower again.. Company all next week and maybe after that. I am planning a trip to Portland in a couple of days and so I hope I can get all my project finished by Saturday.. Oh and the German world cup I made and sent to Germany never got there. I checked with the post office and they said it left Los Angeles on July 24th and has never been heard of since. I guess I have the get that one remade and resent too. Dick heppberguy
  14. great idea. you did a really nice job with it too, but then YOU did it so what else am I to think ? Dick heppnerguy
  15. Kevin, I like everything about this one. I like the plaque design, the composition, the message and the font you used.. What is the name of that font ? I have been looking for it for a long time Dick heppnerguy
  16. my nearest neighbor is almost half a mile away and he is almost deaf so I can make all the noise I wish and no one cares. Dick heppnerguy
  17. even though it is very hot. I think it is cool too Dick heppnerguy
  18. hot here almost 100 degrees so who wants to be outside in that.. to the shop for me too. I am out there suffering with a fan blowing on me while my wife sits in the air conditioned house watching TV and playing words with friends on her Ipad. Poor miserable me Dick hepppnerguy
  19. If the link attaching it to the machine is cracked then i would throw it away. One less link is not a big deal. I had mine pulled off by my grandson messing with my saw when I was not there. Is just pushes back on. it is very difficult to do but that is how they are put on. I finally boiled mine in a pan of water and then after it was hot I laid my machine on it's side and was able to push it back on. The heat gun or hair dryer suggestion looks like maybe an even better idea than mine, the heating up of the link is for expansion purposes. It is never easy to get back on but that is what they do at the DeWalt repair shop. Push really hard....no I said REALLY HARD... there even though you did not think it would work, it did Dick heppnerguy
  20. If you all remember a couple of weeks back I said I was going to purchase some patterns off Dirk Boelman's web sight to help his wife, Karen, out a little financially. I received them last week but have been too busy filling my orders until last night when i decided to go out to my shop and give one of the patterns a go. so here is a photo of one of the clocks from one of his patterns. I cut it from 1/2 inch black walnut. I sure enjoy it already. I hope you like it too Dick heppnerguy
  21. I think my mother picked the perfect name for me because people I don't even know, seem to know my name.. hmmmm Dick heppnerguy
  22. You know, I am not really sure now. It may be a Sheila Landry pattern..If you do not find it on one sight it will most likely be on the other one. Sorry it I posted misinformation Dick heppnerguy
  23. good tip, Pat. I do not subscribe to it but I do have a couple of their issues. I think printed newspapers, magazine and maybe even books are going to be rapidly disappearing from existence before too long. This computerized world is causing a lot of things to go into the history books.. think 'typewriter' for one Dick heppnerguy
  24. A great buy. Those are perfect looking board, it will be interesting to see what they become, in your hands Dick heppnerguy
  25. Roly, I really enjoy your sense of humor. You seem to be able to find something funny to say about a lot of things.. Dick heppnerguy
