  1. You definitely have the right attitude on using the spiral and the rewards for taking the time to learn them are well worth the struggles at first.
  2. I decided to start learning to use spirals and do more delicate fret cutting and though I have never completely sold on the spiral, I did find if the cuts are really small and delicate I still will go for the spiral blade to prevent the breakage. Because I do not use them all the time, I do find that it can still be a little difficult but I still can manage them pretty well. The part I dislike the most about them is the 'fuzzies' they create. 3. It is a long time friend of my daughter, Liz, who lives in Heppner but the person getting married lives about 20 miles from us now. It is Liz's friend's daughter that is getting married and Liz is spending this week here to help her friend with all the wedding things and to attend the wedding on Saturday. Liz's friend used to live a couple of blocks from us when they were in grade and high school together. We will be traveling to Heppner for July and August. Should be able to spend some time with you then. Dick
  4. Exactly. So many scrollers seem to fear them and don't want to make themselves familiar with them, hence never get to understand their real value
  5. This is a sign for a house that will be given to the daughter and son- in-law to be,on Saturday when they wed. It is made from 3/4 inch cedar with a 1/4 inch baker board painted black. The receivers of this are horse people so that is why the horse head was chosen for this item. Dick heppnerguy
  6. I have never heard of this man before now but I sure enjoyed reading your background on him. He would probably be a person that would be neglected by many because of how he appeared on the surface but we all can take lessons on being God's person, from him. Wonderfully done pattern and information for us to read and enjoy. Dick heppnerguy
  7. Another marvelous piece by my favorite car pattern maker. I have never even heard nor seen this car before. It is outstanding. I really enjoyed reading all the information on the car and it's designer. Great history lesson included. absolutely marvelous. Dick heppnerguy
  8. I am continually enjoying seeing your so well done projects Dick heppnerguy
  9. Very nice projects. I love the way you used the different colors to make these so unique and special. So many great pieces here. Thank you so much for sharing them with all of us to enjoy too Dick heppnerguy
  10. I love how you continue to use the spiral blade. I hope it pushes more people to take the time to master them, as it is a great blade for delicate fret work. Really nicely done Dick heppnerguy
  11. I want to thank everyone who posted and those who 'liked' my posts. It was really nice to receive the compliments. I love scrolling but I need to give a lot more attention to my finishing. I just don't seem to catch on to that part very well Dick heppnerguy
  12. Here are a couple of birds that I have made and decided to share in the fun by posting them for you to look at too. Dick heppnerguy
  13. Beautifully done. Hard to beat a Judy Gayle Roberts intarsia pattern to make. She has the best way to send her patterns to her customers. Your work is fabulous. Dick heppnerguy
  14. You also posted a nice variety of birds , all are done quite nicely too. I have cut some of these myself. My personal favorite is the little comical owl sitting on a branch. I have always loved this little fellow. Yours has a little more detail than the others ones I have seen and made but very similar otherwise Dick heppnerguy
  15. birds are so amazing. I can't say that I love all birds but I can say they all are a real gift from God to mankind. Your work is all very well done and interesting to view. Thanks for posting them. Dick heppnerguy
  16. Totally agree with all you said above. I,for one, just don't take the extra time to make them as special as do you. I love your work Dick heppnerguy

  18. wow what an ambitious undertaking. Thanks for posting.. Are you going to make one also? Dick heppnerguy
  19. When I first saw this, my thought was,"I really like that pattern." When I read your writing I realized why. It is a Sue Mey pattern. She is my 'go to' for patterns if I do not already find one here in the village that meets my needs at the time Dick heppnerguy
  20. nice job on this fret project. It takes a lot of time and effort for this kind of fret, but as your project shows, it is well worth the time to do one Dick heppnerguy
  21. If it were me, and you are not me, I would either use a darker green or a black backer because in the photo it looks like it could use a little more contrast to bring our your fret work better. Just me. Dick heppnerguy
  22. nice work on this fret piece. Can't wait to see the finished project Dick heppnerguy
  23. Flowers that will not die. How thoughtful is that? You probably placed them in an aromatic candle wax too, I bet. Nice Mothers day gift Dick heppnerguy
