  1. That is a stunning piece to say the least. I agree the coloring is really impressive.
  2. Also, look into intarsia. A scroll saw discipline. Get into that, and you will never even throw a used toothpick away!
  3. That is the best decision you could have made. This is Paul Douglass from Family Woodworking. I hope you enjoy it here. There is lots of info, so check out the site. Check resources to find suppliers of parts, blades, patterns, etc. There are hundreds of Patterns free in the pattern section, and things to learn in the University section. And go ahead and make fun of me anytime you want. All the rest do! I deserve it.

  5. Hi AL. Glad you decided to give this forum a try. I think you learn and teach us a lot. You caught on to the Hegner quickly. Took me a while. Hope you enjoy it here. There are very nice people.
  6. Yes, those are beautiful.
  7. Just a note, I went and visited you workshop and Youtube channel. Interesting things. I will be spending more time on your Youtube. Lots of information.
  8. But they were so popular back in those days. Now, you hardly ever hear one. I remember lots of kids cursed with accordion lessons. Thankfully my parents did not do that to me. Mine was, first a violin, no talent for it, second, a guitar,,,, no talent for it. Bottom line I was talent poor. I always wished I could play a harmonica. But even me and my dog agree I have no talent for it. I can play my street organ. All I have to do it turn the crank, it does the rest.
  9. I was concerned about that when I thought of buying a Hegner. But I have no problem with the Hegner clamps. It only takes a few seconds to change. I am so used to it I do not even think about it. And for the tilting head, versus the tilting table, I just cut 50 stars to be inlaid for a flag, tilted the table to 7°s, and had no problem. Maybe, If you had to go a lot steeper it could be, but I can think of nothing I would make that I would need to go much over that.
  10. My son has you guys beat. He told me he just purchased another one the other day. I ask how many do you now have? He responded "I am not sure, but not enough yet".
  11. Very cute. Would it be easier to drill the hole for the "litte person" before you cut the shape of the tractor?
  12. There is a beetle infesting lots of Washington wood in the forest, I wonder it it somehow caused the color variation. Like the boxelder beetles makes the red in boxelder.
  13. We have two clubs in my area. The most active is a wood-turning club. And there is a carving club. I have been to the woodturning club meetings several times because I have a good friend who belongs to it. I go because it is great to be around woodworkers of any kind. There are also a few there that scroll. I keep thinking it may be a place to start a subset group. Turners and scroller.
  14. Welcome. So very glad you have joined us.
  15. You must be coming very close to me. You didn't stop by?! Oregon Coast is one of my wife's and my favorite places. We have spent many vacations there, and I have since I was a little kid. Such great memories.
  16. Thanks, and I agree, but I do not like real aggressive blades and the Skip is my favorite of the Pegas!
  17. That would be awesome!
  18. https://scrollsawer.com/skeleton-coffin-box/. scroll down it is a free pattern I think. Guess it is not quit the same, the hands are different than the one you show.
  19. One place to get it": https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=Creative+Wooden+Boxes+from+the+Scroll+Saw&_sacat=267&_sop=15
  20. @rash_powder, do the pots in a controller like that have a number on them that can be cross-referenced, as some mechanical parts have?
  21. Do you have any kind of an electronic shop around? It could be as simple as the potentiometer. Maybe even a computer repair place, tv repair, or tool repair shop would take a look at it for you. I would take the speed control off and take it and ask. Any type of place that has some electronics knowledge and testing equipment.
  22. Welcome to the fourm. I had not heard of book cutting before. I searched it and it looks pretty fascinating. When you get settled maybe you can tell us how it is done.
  23. Great cutting and picture.
  24. That is a beautiful box. I have a book of them also, somewhere. Just never get to it.
  25. Must be a cloudy day. Solar light not working.
