  1. Yep, I'd like to see it and my only complaint is the purple, I just don't happen to be a purple fan, but I am sure your grandson will love it. I know mine would. Great job!
  2. I'd like to know what you intend to hook up to the dust collection. What I mean, is do you have a table saw, bandsaw, jointer, or are you just wanting dust collection for the scrollsaw? For just the scrollsaw, I can't say much because I do not have collection on it. I just have the blower and wear a dusk mask (Resp-O-Rator) most the time. From what I read, most shop vacuums are not really intended to run for extended periods of time. Have you looked at the set up tha Seyco sells? Too spendy for my budget, but if I could afford it.....
  3. speed control, tensioning, dust collection, dust blowing, customer service, availability of parts.
  4. Awesome job, Hans.
  5. That is really nice!
  6. Another great scrolling job, Hans. I really like that one
  7. There was a thread on another forum just a while back about the Eclipse. They were saying the owner is no longer making them and for all pracitcal purposes out of business. The thread was on the Scroll Saw Woodworking and Crafts message board.
  8. ya, you were flying low!!
  9. I bought this one from Harbor Freight. I don't buy much from them but I am real happy with this light. http://www.harborfreight.com/fluorescent-magnifying-lamp-60643.html
  10. Hans, all of us that said it looked like a great pattern to cut knew it was already done,,,,,really Great looking as yours always are.
  11. I have that one also. How big is that pattern?
  12. Nice scrolling and it is a beautiful car in my opinion. By the way, I got passed by a Lanborghini a couple weeks ago. First one I have ever seen in real life.
  13. Great job on the plaque.
  14. When I tried them I only bought a couple dozen because i wasn't sure I'd like them. They surprised me and after the first try they just seemed much easier for me to use. To my mind it just makes more sence to gently move the board the direction you want to cut as as opposed to moving the board around and around to follow the line. But what works best for one doesn't always work best for another. To me they a worth giving a try, but if you just cannot get comfortable with them, I certainly would not force it. I have no idea how they work on thicker stock that you would use for word art and such.
  15. Very good Stu. I could see that even taken futher and when they receive a badge they get a scrolled one on a ribbon like receiving a metal. You better get scrolling! I bet the kids really were excited and proud of their ornaments.
  16. I can't say about HF sanding drums and disks, I have never given them a try. I have tried their sand paper and was not impressed. But maybe they sell different grades some better. I do know that not all sand paper is equal and the better sandpaper lasts longer and does a better job.
  17. Very nice scrolling.
  18. Thank you all for the nice comments. Will I found that loading the bottom end first when replacing the blade, helped quite a bit. That was a suggestion from Kevin I think. I also have ordered a new bottom clamp to put on. I noticed that my threads on the bottom clamp are getting munched some and I had to use pliers once to loosen the screw. I'm going to replace it and the screw, put some anti-sieze on the new one. I'm hoping that will take care of the problem.
  19. I ordered mine from Klingspor. http://www.woodworkingshop.com/abrasive-sleeves/ I buy all my sanding need from them.
  20. Nice job and a different pace for you. Enjoyed your input on get together with Charles yesterday.
  21. I'd glue a strip of Baltic Birch or whatever the wood is across the front to cover the screws. Other than the screws, it is a great looking piece.
  22. Thank you all for the kind words, to me and bad words about snakes..... Rusty and Larry, the 3/0 Spiral is my favorite blade. Rarely use anything else for portraits.
  23. Very nice work and you have a great spirit.
  24. I have always had a huge fear of snakes. Cannot touch one, do not like to be around them. I thought doing this picture might help me get over it. I enjoyed making it, I still do not like snakes! This is a Charles Dearing pattern, 1/8" Baltic Birch. 9 1/2" x 12" used 3/0 FD spiral blades.
  25. Dearing, like Steve said is on FaceBook or PhotoBucket: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Charles-Dearing-Patterns-For-Sale/106837579432017 http://s206.photobucket.com/user/artistic_cowboy30/library/Patterns%20for%20sale%207%20dollars%20each/Patterns%20for%20sale?sort=6&page=1 Mike Williams: http://mikesscrollsawpatterns.com/index.html The hardest part of doing these guys patterns, is selecting which ones to buy. So far I have purchased around 30 of Charle's on his sale. I have not done one of Mike's yet, but hope to after Christmas. Good luck, they are fun.
