    First thing I thought about was a glue stick. Never used one for this. I just spray my pattern then attach it.

    I agree fully on the sealer. Works great on pine and poplar too. Keeps things from getting blotchy. I normally let mine set over night which means it is the last thing I do in my shop before closing up for the day. If you use a water based product gently wet it down first then lightly sand it when dry, this will eliminate the little raised pieces and give you a smoother finish.

    First off, welcome to the village. Great place to be and learn. When I say learn it is a little tough in the beginning but things do get better, I promise. Bottom feeding is a tough process when you don't have a lot of room on top. The best thing is to be patient as you learn. It gets better I promise. Some folks open the bottom up a little aid in this. I'm a top feeder but spent many years doing what you are going through. The whole process is about enjoying it and the education get along the way. The satisfaction comes from seeing the smiles on peoples faces. Best advice I can offer is patience and taking your time. Once you have gotten to the point you can up grade your equipment (saw) and continue to learn and grow so take baby steps and you will be up and running in short time.

    Still waiting on mine. I enjoy the magazine. I have seen the articles of gluing pictures to things and although this is not my cup of tea I'm sure others enjoy it. I fully agree that they can not please everyone and some are less desirable issues then others. Trying to keep it simple enough for beginners and offering some more challenging for those with higher skill levels. Rolf you commented about trying to keep things interesting at the club level. Bill recently posted about this. I believe he is the president of the club closest to me. It would be a bit of a drive for me. Thinking on stopping by it as a guest if they allow it and seeing what it is all about. Something I am happy about though. Is the diversity they try to offer. Just like being here at the village.

    Welcome back Dick.Glad to hear your getting moved in and settled.111* is a little warm Just don't overdue it in that kind of heat. I wished we were closer to the eclipse too many things going on here to take time away. Keep us posted on your progress and be safe.

    Montserrat Your more then welcome. I doubt my wife would appreciate me in that situation. This village is built on others helping others. I enjoy the fact that I can help. Please post a photo of your finished project. Enjoy cutting it. Who knows maybe others will join it too

    Cutting thin wood normally I use a backer board.It really helps support the piece I am working on. I normally use a #1 or #3 blade for this, depending on the pattern. Like anything else there is a learning curve. Experience is the best teacher and asking questions is the best way to get help on learning.

    I bought the current chuck. Hit it with a piece of wood moving around. Bent the this mounting stem. Cut it off and used the remainder and it works great. For the small amount they ask, I think well worth the price.

    I use 3M super 77. I wait till it tacks up then apply the pattern to the tape. I seen a video before about using and old credit card to smooth out the pattern. I believe it was from Scrollsaw video with Karl. I rarely have a pattern lift on me.

    I subscribe to scroll saw. I like it, but it is the only one published that I know of at this time. I really liked creative woodworking also. It's a shame they went under. I have found a few of theirs on Amazon that I didn't have and they were complete. But they are hard to find now. Someone suggested eBay but I don't like taking a chance on it being complete. Fox chapel has several good books available also.
