  1. Slow down your feed rate, heat is a major contributing factor in blades breaking. Spirals seem to be more sensitive to this from my experience since they are twisted to get the spiral. I'm sure others will chime in on this also.
  2. Looks like it should go back together fairly well. I would try CA glue though. The thin stuff should run into the crack and give you a stronger repair. Just my opinion. Good luck.
  3. I create a PDF and specify what size I need. Requires a little math but don't have leave my home
  4. Ike tells you how much we overstock
  5. Managed to get it dome while eating dinner. Sorting was hot, dinner was cold
  6. It's all about keeping your priorities in the proper place. Something I never sacrifice.
  7. Has anyone besides me ever been working in the shop and have something really annoying happen ? Today the Mrs. and I went down to my shop. She put some finish on a few pieces that were done getting ready for a show on the 25th. I was attaching hangers and hardware at my bench. Next thing I hear is a sound that sent chills up my spine. Over 2500 small screws of different sizes, small nails also of different sizes, saw tooth hangers and a lot of other pieces went crashing to the floor. So I guess tonight and tomorrow I get to sort all these things out. May have a cold one or two while taking this on. I now know to close and lock the lids when not getting something out of it. I still have no idea how it fell but it did :( .
  8. Lee Valley was the first place that came to mind for me too. Also may want to look into Hobby Lobby, I understand they have a bigger selection of items. I have never dealt with them though.
  9. I agree with above. Check Rick's website. My EX-21 was making a similar noise and I had to replace a bearing. It's a shame when you take a piece of equipment in for warranty and they say no problem and hand you a bill. They least they could have done was a customer courtesy inspection. Best of luck solving this issue.
  10. Looks great Ike.
  11. Don You may have a bearing with play in it. Ray walked me through this a while ago. Give him a call and see what he has to say. It was about gently moving pieces and watching for movement in the bearings.
  12. About 90 % is where my elbows are at. I didn't raise the back of my saw and think that is personal preference.
  13. That's a lot of side to side movement. Explains the vibration I had in mine.
  14. Best of luck with the saw.
  15. Nice Patterns well worth doing. on my bucket List for sure. Thanks
  16. If I understand your question correctly. The positive will be what is left once cut. The negative will cut and removed. ( Waste Areas ) Positive areas will be connected all the way through the pattern and negative will be like islands . You will drill your holes in the negative spaces. The part above with shading the negative space with a pencil is a great way to learn how to read a pattern and help keeping you focused on cutting while you learn. At any rate, welcome to the wonderful world of scrolling and to the Village. Your off to a great start.
  17. I'm a little confused on this also. Does the banner under your picture disappear when it is time to renew? I enjoy this site and happily support it. And will be happy to continue to do so
  18. I have been driving to Rockler about 28 miles from my house. I know I pay a premium price but it's the closest place I can get BB Ply. Have you looked on eBay? I understand there are some good places up there, but sorting through it all can be work.
  19. I had this problem on my EX-21. Was on the phone with Ray from Seyco. Found a bad bearing by carefully watching for movement. Replace the bearing and all was well. Suggest using good light and moving parts gently and watching for play. When you find the play you most likely found the source. Be patient and move things gently and watch carefully. You'll get to source. Best of luck.
  20. Can't open them either. From the posts above though must be something to see. Those that could open that is
  21. Here is another source for parts. Prices may be better than eParts. Did not check but always nice to have options. http://www.partswarehouse.com/Ryobi-SC163VS-16-Scroll-Saw-s/11254.htm?gclid=Cj0KEQjwhpnGBRDKpY-My9rdutABEiQAWNcslMqSK8ZRqYeTXifQ-kDEzy14auzgXbYxfQSBtZl_AvcaAt3o8P8HAQ Best of luck
  22. Well done. Always nice to hear about a deal. And just think once you get it cleaned up you can have a beer and admire your work Congrats
  23. I have had the same problem . There is sometimes a difference between what my computer can do vs my android phone. I just took it as stream line programming for data usage on the phone. Maybe someone can explain this for all of us to understand ?
  24. Good luck with the new saw. Heard plenty good about them. Keep us posted please.
  25. I'm in a similar boat as you. I have had 5 surgeries to correct nerve damage in my arms and hands. I can still scroll and do a lot of things in my shop. What I enjoy the most about it all would be the smiles I see on the faces that order something special or custom made. I have had to make a lot of adjustments and learn how to do things in a different way. I'm a little older then you and have these same thoughts. It always comes down to the smiles and happiness that gets created in my shop. Meeting people at crafts shows and just watching the expressions and the eyes light up. So for me it's always time well spent and I get to get away from everything else and it is just me, K-Love and the wood and machines. I take what I do very serious but truly enjoy every part of it. It's a hobby with a fantastic return. Don't get better then that
