  1. I'd send them back.
  2. Bill, when you say "shellac" are you referring to the type you mix yourself or the pre-mixed? Just want to be clear as I'm learning too. Finishing is my downfall at this point. I can cut anything but the finishing is where I lose it. To edit, I've been using Zinnser's spray shellac. Is that the same thing?
  3. Excellent!
  4. Wow! Sounds great. Did you get a good price on it?
  5. Call Wolfgang at Advanced Machinery. Talk to him. He'll give you some help. Great guy.
  6. Great video. Where'd you find it? I thought I'd seen all the vids on youtube re: marquetry.
  7. Congrats Aberdeen. Be sure to post pics of your work once you get it all tuned up.
  8. As mentioned, if you buy it do a tear down and service the bearings. I did it on my type 1 and after adding the Pegas clamps it purred and as far as I know it still is.
  9. I just had a brain fart. They come seldom anymore. Everybody complains that the clear tape comes up and lets dust get under it. Would it maybe help to spray a light coat of adhesive to the blue tape, let it dry for a bit and then apply the clear tape over it? For those who feel the need for the clear tape, this might make it stay down. I've not tried it but just thought maybe. End of fart!
  10. And all the other dust producing opps? I have dust collection, an air cleaner and I still wear a mask. And you should see the filters on the outside. They still collect dust from the air. Scrolling is almost as bad as sanding. Maybe worse. Very fine dust. And we all cut toxic woods.
  11. And your lungs are doing the same.
  12. You will have to move the anvil screw to the other side. Reverse both screws.
  13. Could you not put the clamp knob on be right side?
  14. My Ex16 is green/Taiwan. My Ex21 is green/Canada.
  15. Thanks but I 'm going to capture the dust instead of blowing it anywhere. If I was to blow it I'd buy an aquarium pump and some LocLine for sure. I'm building a system for dust capture using an Oreck carry around vac and PVC with LocLine for aiming. So far, I'm liking the saw a lot. The one thing I'm still not sure about is the tall stand. My other 2 saws I built a sit down stand for them. I hate to cut up the factory stand so I might just build another stand like the others. Either way, I like the saw and will probably be selling one of my Ex's. Oh, and I did find that a CV joint boot works great for a bellows and would probably last a lot longer. Rubber rather that plastic.
  16. Jim, I know what you meant but I think the correct word would be "circulates" the dust rather than collect it. As you so aptly put it "different strokes".
  17. Now, why didn't I think of that? I'm old and slow I guess. I'll give that some thought.
  18. If you are referring to the palm tree, no, I had to ask for that and he sent it to me. But if you want it, here it is.
  19. I've not seen the Dewalt version. I personally bought the Dust Deputy and it came with 2 5 gallon buckets and a set of wheels that I've yet to use. I only used the one bucket but when I bought the Dustopper from H/D I used the second bucket for it. I've got way too many vacuums in my shop but they all have their purpose.
  20. I knew this would happen and I'm sure Oneida is not happy. This looks like a good price and probably is pretty good quality. China is eating our lunch.
  21. I love mine too especially since I only have under $400 in it. And once I sell my Ex16, I'll be in it zero.
  22. Anything from Hegner is expensive. If you ordered an empty box, it would still cost you a ton plus the shipping.
  23. I have only purchased a couple of cans of Deft from my local Ace store but when I went there a couple of weeks ago, they didn't have one single can on the shelf. I'm hoping it's just a sign of the times and it will re-appear.
  24. Thanks Bill, I have experienced just that using spray shellac but had no idea of what it was called. It did go away overnight and I was quite happy that it did. I thought I had totally screwed up my project.
  25. Being totally ignorant re:finishing, what is "blushing"?
