  1. I haven't made it yet. I was given some, from another friend. Love using it. Smells nice. I have also then used a hairdryer to warm it to sink in the crevices.
  2. The stacking bowls are a Steve Good pattern. I used 1" reclaimed Elm and 1/4" Sapelle. Finished with beeswax/mineral oil. I have no idea what woods the hands are. Both pieces were given to me. Possibly maple and cherry.
  3. I was given some beeswax from a friend so one of these gnomes is a thank you gift. They are cut from various thickness of bb ply. One of the beehives I did veining and the other one I created a groove and then shaded it. Pattern purchased from Whimsical Inklings in Design Bundles. Acrylic paint and then a couple coats of shellac.
  4. That is a great finish line to a fabulous journey. Great work. Another heirloom piece.
  5. I do like the cleaner look of the top one. My $0.02 worth.
  6. What an stunning heirloom piece that you have created. Thanks for outlining your steps. The details in the foreground is so clear. Just WOW overall.
  7. Just took a quick look at most of my clocks - they are all Arabic. I don't mind Roman numerals but then prefer it to only be on the 1/4's It can get crowded looking.
  8. Thanks for jinxing the day Marie! I was painting small pieces for another gnome and "misplaced" a couple of the leaves. I was able to find them. My floor is so much cleaner now!!!
  9. Marie, how much beeswax to you mix it with? Do you think that the shellac could be mixed with only the beeswax and not adding turp & blo?
  10. Welcome from Winnipeg! (originally from Moose Jaw) Your work looks great.
  11. Missing socks become paperclips!! Or hangers!!
  12. I had a few "trees of life" that didn't have all the foliage.
  13. Very nice.
  14. For those that have an EX - do you wax your table? There is a "coating" on it, so I am not sure it needs a wax.
  15. Thanks all for the kind and encouraging words.
  16. Thanks. Struggling with getting the pieces to be tight together. Guess I will just have to get through all 50 fans.
  17. Just having "fan". Patterns from The Book of Fans - designs for stained glass by Leslie Sharp. Playing around with segmentation and adding shims for height. The boat is coloured with Unicorn Spit and coated with Osmo satin finish. The tulips are acrylic paint and coated with beeswax butter. Not sure what wood the boat is. Tulips cut from red oak. Both cut with #1 MG blade.
  18. Amazing cutting. You can use the "off cuts" to make another sign!
  19. I use a bar chair thst isn't on wheels. I am too afraid that, in my sloped room, I would just roll away. I have some challenges at times with it rotating while I am at one of my benches.
  20. I find, when cutting circles, to cover (with my hand) part of the lines. That way, I am focused on what is right there and not looking too far ahead. I hope this makes sense. Barbara, the other one!
  21. The painting really brings it to life. Great job.
  22. Thanks. This is a from a larger piece of wood that has been sitting in my basement for 4ish years. The price tag was still on it - $9.99/bf. I got a friend to plane the rest of it after I did this piece.
  23. Thanks all.
  24. Thanks. The wood is about an inch thick.
