  1. Beautiful work. I like the first apple best. The contrast really pops.
  2. Merry Christmas Marg. Your work is great. Love the idea with the paper on the jumpers. Took me a bit to figure out we call them sweaters!!!
  3. The grain is what drew me in for the project. I had been thinking about making the beeswax butter, so it was a great gift to sample. The making of it will be on the "to do" list for next year! Loved the smell when I was applying it.
  4. Don't know about that Dave. I found this very frustrating - at least the star part. I am not sure I want to start hoarding even more wood!!
  5. Here is my attempt at an intarsia project. I have done segmentation but this was "technically" intarsia, even though it was cut from the same wood. The wood is black ash, which I received from a friend - it was in his burn bin!! The wood is about 3/4" thick. Used a Flying Dutchman #3 full reverse. Finished with the Beeswax "Butter" that I got as a hostess gift. It is not completely finished. I want to put another coat or two of the wax on and then I have to attach the backer, but I thought is was close enough to post here. There are certainly "happy accidents" but if you can't see them I won't tell you where they are!!! I love the grain of the wood and thought it lent itself well to the project. Comments & critiques are welcome.
  6. Cherished memories.
  7. Thanks @John B. Like @don in brooklin on, you never know when inspiration is needed.
  8. Beautiful
  9. Looks lovely. I am sure that Dianne will love it.
  10. Welcome back. I retired in April and like William, no regrets. Seeing everyone's (who commented) age, I feel like a baby (62, just)
  11. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year as well.
  12. Had my last sale of the year, I hope, today. It was a blustery day - -15C with windchill felt like -25. Turns out the furnace in the community club wasn't working properly - bloody cold! Only 100 or so came through the sale. Ultimately it really wasn't a bad day in terms of sales. Sale went from 10 - 4 and I did just over $400, which is only about $150 less than the first day of my 2 day event in November. Would I do it again - not sure. I only had an 8' table and wasn't able to set any additional tables up. That meant, all my wall plaques couldn't be displayed. I also think I am giving up on ornaments - only sold 1 this show and 10 last show. Anyhow - here is a picture of the setup.
  13. Me Three!
  14. Wishes for a speedy recovery. As others have said, follow dr's orders and do the physio.
  15. I have been sanding the wood to 220 before applying the pattern. Makes final finishing easier. Be patient. It is not a race. Don't be overly critical - only you see the "flaws". No one else does.
  16. None in Winnipeg as far as I know.
  17. Beautiful!
  18. Nice idea. Generous gift!!
  19. Another wonderful project. I love your detailed description of your process. Something that your granddaughter will cherish for decades.
  20. Great job. I love that you actually used buttons. How did you do the eyes?
  21. I send my nieces & nephews an ornament every year. Got them in the mail yesterday.
  22. The Nativity sets, not made into ornaments, are from Steve Good. I kept seeing them in other FB groups, so had to cut.
  23. I have to do something during the day!!!
  24. Lovely. I like the idea of a new one each year, except I would run out of room!
