  1. Thanks. Not a fan of gnomes? hockey? or the Jets? I am not a fan of hockey or the Jets!
  2. Thanks. Now that I am retired, I tend to spend a couple of hours most days in the shop. Keeps me out of trouble!!
  3. Thanks John & Travis.
  4. Here is my latest herd of "Fred's". Steve Good pattern that I reduced to 50%. 1/4" BBply. The base is an old cut off from a Christmas tree. Finish is a new product I tried. Not sure I really liked it. Turned out to be a little more "glossy" than I normally would use, but I guess we'll see at my November craft sale. Probably need a bit more practice with it.
  5. Very cute!
  6. Very nice cutting. I believe the gnome was done by Don in Brooklin. !0+ years and I still don't do great on corners; that's what files are for
  7. Got them all done. Two coats of shellac for the finish. All have "temporary tattoos" on the back. One has a temp tat on the front and the other two are stickers. The logos were purchased from a local sport shop that is going out of business so they were 75% off! There are more details on the cutting in "Works in Progress"
  8. Glad the surgery went well. As others have said, do the work the therapists provide. It truly works. Just think of all the projects you can plan out while recovering!!
  9. I am almost afraid to jump into the discussion, but regarding this line, and as John Nelson commented, who counts/enforces.
  10. Great work.
  11. "TImeless!"
  12. So, I posted an ad on Kijiji and the reply was one of the sports shops was closing out and had a couple of sheets of stickers still available. Zipped out there. Got the last sheet of stickers and temporary tatoos. This one has the temporary tatoo on it. I still need to put a finish on it. Very happy - especially because the stickers/tat's were 75% off!
  13. Great looking trivet/wall hanging. Beautiful finish as well.
  14. Tom, I don't have a colour printer, or access to one. I used to do that at work!!! (shhh - don't let them know). There are vinyl stickers available online but I don't want to pay the shipping costs. I will get out to a mall later and look in the stores.
  15. Nice cuttings.
  16. So, this doesn't officially belong here - yet! Latest round of hockey gnomes. Pattern modified by Don in Brooklin. Thanks Don! Still looking around for a Winnipeg Jets sticker because the logo is too complicated to make this small. Will update when I find one.
  17. Super happy with how these turned out. Alex Fox pattern that I shrank to 80%. Left the backer piece off. Finished with Tung Oil. Shadow box frames were free and missing the backer. Used foam core as the backer. The backer on the dragonfly is rainbow scrapbooking paper (from my mom's stock). The boarder is another type of scrapbooking paper. One is pale green and the other is a blue. Took the photos outside so, unfortunately, the reflection is in the way.
  18. It works very well. If you want a "wash" type finish, then thin it out. Straight out of the bottle is fairly thin. Add more coats to darken the finish. Acrylic sits on top of the wood where Unicorn Spit soaks into the wood. Hope that makes sense.
  19. According to Ray at Seyco, it is strong enough. That said, I haven't been able to figure it out. Even bought the Scrollnado to hook up. Didn't work.
  20. I have used Unicorn Spit and acrylic paints. The Unicorn spit does not seem to interfere with the puzzle tabs. When I have done acrylic paints, even watered down, it seems to interfere with the tabs. The attached heart was done with Unicorn Spit (I think). The other product you could look at, but it is expensive if you only need a bit, is Osmo. I mentioned it in my posting on the Roly Poly Ladybug
  21. Looks great
  22. Beautiful job Brenda. Thanks for all the info as the project progressed. Looking forward to watching the video.
  23. I have the Flatmaster. Don't actually use it much as it is in a very awkward corner. According to their site, it is a replacement for the planer.
  24. I haven't read all the comments. I don't have a planer. On one of the FB pages someone mentioned that most jobs can be done on a drum sander instead of a planer, it just takes more passes. The advantage to the drum sander is it would take bigger stock than the planer.
