  1. My wife asked me if I could find a pattern of a ferret so she could give it to her friend. I said I bet Iggy has one. She said “what is an Iggy?” LOL cut out of cherry.
  2. One of the best portrait I have seen!
  3. I always sand the wood before I do the cutting. Don’t have to worry about breaking pieces off. If using plywood & have a lot of fuzzies I use a small torch to burn them off (very small flame).
  4. That is a great looking box!
  5. I got the patterns for the pieces from a book she has “wooden chess sets you can make “ put out by Fox Chapel. Has 9 different sets to pick from.
  6. One thing I have noticed (maybe someone else has pointed this out) none of the shop pictures look anything like the ones we see on TV LOL. These are true working shops. Not a lot I can add to what the pictures show of mine. Behind the Jet Air Filter you may be able to see a red dot. That is a reflection in a mirror so I can tell the setting of the system speed and time to run. Where you see the air compressor you can see a hose going into the cabinet that is were the shop vac is. It runs when the scroll saw does and I use it for the chop saw and bench sanders. The tool turn table I got at an auction for $10 great buy. PS thinks for the pictures of your shops, maybe get my wife off my back about mine not looking like the TV guys LOL
  7. Wasn’t any sanding to do. Was all compound cutting.
  8. Thanks for all the kind words!!
  9. I always stack cut at least 3 portrait type at a time.
  10. Finished my chess set after starting on it about two years ago. Set it aside doing other projects knocked off the dust and finished it. Made with cherry, walnut and poplar. The pieces are from Diana Thompson's pattern. They are made out of poplar and the dark ones are stained walnut. The board pattern came from Woodworker's Journal, Rick White. I made every thing 3/4" bigger to go with the bigger chess pieces. The size is 4 1/2" x 21". I think I will make a table for it. May take another two years LOL.
  11. I have no problem putting the blade all the way to the back of the holder top or bottom. I top feed so when I feel the blade go into the bottom clamp it is all the way back. I think you may have a bad clamp.
  12. I use two part epoxy. Get piece of scrap wood, put equal amounts on board, get toothpick an stir. Works for me.
  13. Doesn’t Kevin work out of a unit? Side note he hasn’t been on here for awhile or have I just over looked his post?
  14. Why feel guilty about that? When things are hand made you don’t get perfect things. I have reguled things were you can’t tell. See no problem.
  15. If you forget to tension it back and start cutting, well bad things can an will happen. I know from having done just that. Ruined a bland new blade lucky I didn’t get cut. Do like your sign. Only I would forget the sign lol.
  16. I will cut a vain with a straight blade and then go back and cut with a spiral blade to get a wider kurf. As said the spiral has a mind of it’s own to follow the grain. This way the blade will have a path to follow.
  17. Sorry I should’ve said which forum. I forgot about Steve Good’s forum. Steve does a great service for scrollers.
  18. Thanks for the information! I saw yesterday that I had two trophies! Didn’t know what it was about but is a nice thing Travis is doing. As a side bar this site has sure taken off as much as the other one has went downhill. They show 39,000 members but only 133 active. I feel we need both to promote the scroll saw hobby. Thanks Travis for all the work you put into this site!
  19. Sure uncoved areas will have glue on them but give a few minutes and it will be dry. I suppose you could hold paper with a pair of needle noses.
  20. Don’t spray the paper. Spray the area you are going to atttach the paper to. You don’t have to hold the paper and get glue on fingers this way. I figured this out the first time attaching paper to wood. Also this way the paper stays flat and doesn’t curle up from being wet. Try it you may like it lol
  21. I like how you did the base on the Peace one. What is the name of the router bit did you used?
  22. Got a lot of information on how to fix warp but I was just asking if any one has tried to fix it in a steam chamber.
  23. See people using a steam chamber to bend wood. Would this work to take warp out of a piece of wood? While the wood is hot put in a press until cool and dry?
  24. If you zoom in the picture you will see on the left side of my saw how I did my blade holder.
  25. Thanks for the picture! Very simple setup & great idea. Now if I will remember next time I need it LOL thanks
