  1. After 50 years of marriage, I have bought a lot of gifts for her. I think this is the first time I have made one for Valentines. Cut from 1/2" Red Oak using Pegas MGT #3 blades.
  2. Welcome from Jackson, Wisconsin.
  3. I found this on another site I belong to and thought you all should know.
  4. These should keep you busy. https://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/index.php
  5. Very nice! Is that your pattern?
  6. This is so sad. I always believed Hegners lived forever......
  7. OK, now I am curious too. The Hegner manual reads: "Before operation and afterevery ten hours of use, oil each main bearing supporting the upper and lower reciprocating arms. Use heavy machine oil in the oil ports (#34 on parts diagram) for Polymax. On Multimax 14, 18, and 22 use light machine oil on both ends of the bearings (#8 on parts diagram). If you cannot reach the inside ends of the bearings, drop oil near the edge of the arm above the bearing – it will run to the proper spot. Wipe off any excess oil." I have been doing in every couple of months too.
  8. You could just replace it for $35. https://www.advmachinery.com/collections/types/products/hegner-quickclamp
  9. I use these which work for me. You can get them anywhere. https://www.amazon.com/Elmers-Clear-Glue-Stick-E4061/dp/B073K2NGY2/ref=sr_1_12?keywords=Glue+Sticks&qid=1573961851&sr=8-12 All my intarsia pattern parts go on with there. With family members with asthma, spray glue is out of the question in my basement shop. Full sheet labels will work too.
  10. $250 is a good price! A guy around these parts is trying to sell a used G4 for $900. Its been for sale for a long time.
  11. I will be back to order more, just need to use or give away the other brands.
  12. I bought some Pegas #MGT blades from Denny (Fast delivery!!). I have been using FD-UR blades forever and a few Olsen blades once in a while. I really like how Pegas blades cut. I have always had a problem on the Hegner with breaking blades. Usually on top, at the Quick Clamp, but sometimes at the bottom clamp. And I know that if it breaks in or at the clamp, you are over tightening the clamp and kinking the blade (BTW - I learned that here at SSV). And yes I know that I am being too ham fisted and over tightening. With the Pegas blades, the only breakage is in the middle and that is VERY rare. And they seem to stay sharp longer too.
  13. Guy near me is selling this for $100. Says its a #212. I am NOT gonna buy it.
  14. I use very little WRC. It the only wood that gives me an allergic reaction. That's with using a dust mask, dust collector, AND a air filter. Too bad because I really like the look of it and how nice it is to cut and sand.
  15. Good advise here already. Craigslist, Ebay, are your friend. another one is Facebook Marketplace.
  16. Thats for drilling at an angle.
  17. Well Done!! Way better then my first project!
  18. Nice cutting, well done. I remember many hour of driving one of them when I was a kid on the farm. Now that is a long time ago.
  19. I think variable speed is a requirement. The "Quick Clamp" for the top clamp is nice, but can be added - not a show stopper. They do take getting used to.
  20. Rolf, Wow! Nice Car! My biggest regret in life was NOT buying an Austin Healy "bug-eye" Sprite. I was still in high school and my dad said no. I should have argued more.
  21. The hardest thing for me to learn was to change blades often. I am a cheap skate and throwing away a "good" blade seemed just wrong. Do it anyway.
  22. I was thinking the other day (dangerous at my age), when there was a post of someone looking for Excalibur parts. Has anyone ever rebuilt one - as in new bearings and sleeves? I know people do it all the time for Dewalt's. I did my when I owned one. but Excalibur? There must be the same number of bearing, etc. ??
  23. Put a Quick Clamp on it and it will be perfect! Nice find.
  24. Welcome. I in Jackson, Wis. to the east of you.
  25. Ottlite here too. Much better optics.
