  1. Yeah I agree I don't think the deal will last long.
  2. Yeah Kevin I live a little NW of you in Muskegon and it has been pretty cold here as well although we get some warming affect from Lake Michigan. Boy I don't know how you can work on a scroll saw in such conditions. I worked in all kind of conditions during my working career and I found that just standing or sitting in one place in a unheated building was the pits. I would rather work outside in the cold if I could have a job that required movement.
  3. The saw looks really good if the pictures are recent. It has the up front tension release which is good. The price sounds reasonable. Parts are available which is a good thing. I don't know if it will outlive you but they do last a long time.
  4. Just wondering if anyone has experience with FD XL blades. I recently cut some of the compound or 3D deer ornaments and used some Pegas MG #5 and #7 blades. I cut some from red oak, white ash, and poplar. I could cut one red oak or white ash ornament per blade. I got a little more use when cutting the poplar. The description of the design for FD XL blades seems to be similar to the Super Sharps in that they both have alternate teeth set in opposite directions. Both blades are quite expensive but the FD XL's are considerably less than the Super Sharps. Any input would be appreciated. 3
  5. If that is a recent picture that P20 looks like brand new. I had a Delta P20 and used it for about 7 years. For those that have never seen one they had some great features. The large cast iron teardrop table, the awesome blade clamp design which allowed for top or bottom feeding. Had Delta decided to make it variable speed drive the saw would have been hard to beat. The fact that Delta decided to quit supporting the P20 is the reason I no longer own one. I gave mine to my grandson to see if he would like scrolling. It was still in good working order. If I lived closer to Milwaukee I would also be interested.
  6. I will probably be looking at new or different toy patterns. I really enjoy making little kids type toys. I don't sell them just give them away. My only resolution is to appreciate more my good health and family.
  7. Me too. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and happy holiday season.
  8. When I first got my Hegner I also broke a lot of blades. I believe the right blade tension is more crucial on Hegner saws. I was used to cutting on a Delta P20 which is a more aggressive cutting saw that may have also contributed to the issue. Coming off a more aggressive cutting saw to a Hegner takes a little time to get used to. I seldom break a blade anymore unless I try to use the blade beyond its useful life or push it beyond its normal limits.
  9. Yeah Dale I can see where you would have issues with Howard's Feed-N-Wax with fretwork. If would be hard to get any excess out of the frets. I usually spray fretwork with a hard finish like Krylon Crystal Clear Acylic satin.
  10. No Ray I didn't get any thing out of Delta but the Rep told me maybe I could try e.replacement for the parts. Nice Huh?
  11. Yeah, good for you Ray I'm glad it all worked out for you. My situation was quite a bit different. When a Delta rep. as much as told me I can't help you with parts for a $500. scroll saw that was enough for me. They didn't offer to replace my scroll saw. Oh, and by the way I have several more Delta tools that I have absolutely no idea if I can get replacement parts for if I need them. Needless to say I won't be buying anymore Delta tools.
  12. Maybe the word is getting around about Delta's reputation of only supporting their products for a short period of time. I know Delta and Dewalt are or were under the Black and Decker umbrella but Delta seems to be the worst for support and replacement parts availability. I had a Delta P20 and they told me sorry we no longer support that saw. I guess that means if you buy one of their products and they for what ever reason decide to stop supporting it you are just sh*# out of luck.
  13. I believe scrap wood is in the eye of the beholder. I have a hard time throwing any wood away that might make a small item of some sort. The problem is I end up with so many small pieces I have to part with some every once in a while. I bag up some of it for my son for kindling he uses for camp fires and I burn the rest in my own fire pit.
  14. Iggy I think you have found your niche. You are definitely doing very well, congratulations. I think I would be cutting puzzles in my sleep. LOL
  15. Very nice Dan great job on both the pattern and cutting.
  16. Looks great Pete! I am sure it will be well received.
  17. Boy! If that's your first you are doing great! Welcome to the forum and keep um coming.
  18. I will be pretty busy tomorrow so I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. Those that are or will be traveling have a safe trip, be careful, and get back home safely.
  19. Yeah congrats Runa. That is a great big step up from the one you have been using. I know you are going to enjoy your new saw.
  20. Congrats. Everyone deserves a quality saw. Enjoy!
  21. This part of Hanns's statement reminds me of when I contacted him several years ago with some of my concerns and ideas to make Hegner saws more user friendly. You know what they say about a poor excuse being better than none? I believe it applies here. I have been using my Hegner Multi-Max 22V for over 2 years with the upper arm stop modified position with none of the issues that Hanns stated. All I can say is I will continue to use my saw with the modification because it makes cutting larger fretwork so much more enjoyable.
  22. That is just great and for a very worthy cause. A big thank you to all that participated.
  23. Yeah, I hear ya Kevin. At 6:00 am it was 15 degrees here in my neck of the woods. Now Kevin why would they be kind enough to provide an access panel? I know just what you are talking about been there done that.
  24. I would also like to thank and honor all the veterans and their families for their service and sacrifices past and present on their special day.
  25. I agree this is a great forum with great members. I usually check in daily when I can. Sometimes I actually have something to say that might be helpful. So I would like to thank everyone who contributes to our continuing success. Also a special thanks to Travis for all he does for us.
