  1. Very nicely done your mom should really like it. I like your color choices. Thank you for showing us.
  2. Nice job Denny your tray turned out great. I might try one in red oak. Thanks for showing us.
  3. Yes Paul I do use the hold down. I have some arthritis in my hands and using the hold down on thicker materials really helps with the pain and fatigue. I also have the quick clamp The amount the upper arm now raises is substantial and really comes in play with larger fretwork. I have been thinking about an auxiliary table made of 1/8" baltic birch plywood covered with laminate and held in place by 2 countersunk 10/24 screws. I don't have a problem drilling and tapping my table and 2 screws won't be too inconvenient.
  4. Over a period of time I have made a few changes, or I like to think improvements to my Hegner Multi-Max 22V. Thought I would share them with other owners. First pictures shows how I cut off the cast boss and relocated the upper arm stop to allow the upper arm to raise higher and changed to a lighter spring. Next I raised the hold down arm and installed a longer rod for the hold down. Next I made and installed a sawdust catcher under the table. At the bottom inside of the wood part I installed a piece of 1/4" hardware cloth to catch the bottom blade clamp when a blade breaks. Lastly I made and installed a blade rack. These modifications have made the saw a little more user friendly.
  5. That saw was made in an era when things were sometimes beautiful as well as functional. It looks like it is in great condition. Thank you for showing us.
  6. Thanks everyone for your comments I really like making toys especially vehicles and this project served two purposes
  7. Yes Rolf the shelf is red oak one of my favorite woods to work with. The tow truck is red oak and walnut. The Mustang is laminated pine. Thanks for your comments.
  8. My next older brother has a Mustang GT 5.0. Paul tried to get me to buy a Camero SS so we could have us a drag race. Keep in mind he is 75 and I am 72. Can't you just see the look on a cops face if he caught us? Anyway it didn't happen I like my Buick Enclave just fine. I'm into making toy cars and trucks and such so I made a tow truck and a Mustang. The pair are for a grand nephew which is also Paul's great grandson. I think Paul will get a kick out of the Mustang on a hook.
  9. This is what I devised to collect the sawdust under my Hegner. It doubles as a blade clamp catcher when I break a blade. I have a piece of hardware cloth in the bottom ahead of the bag to catch the clamp.
  10. That piece is truly awesome. I too wonder what scroll saw was used and the amount of time it took to create. Thank you Randy for posting it.
  11. Like I said I still don't give a hoot if it is their real name but for me some of the user names just don't seem to fit well in a response. I really prefer to address you as Paul rather than Scrappile but that's just me.
  12. I guess I don't understand why anyone who posts here wouldn't want to put something down as a signature. I don't give a hoot if it is their actual name of not. They should put something down so we are not calling them hey you. LOL JMHO
  13. Welcome Charles! I live down south of ya in West Michigan. I have always enjoyed my visits to the UP. I Hope you like it here. Lots of good folks here.
  14. Thanks Jim I should have remembered that. Some days I have a case of CRS. Paul Newman is one of my favorite actors.
  15. "What we have here is a failure to communicate". I can't remember where that quote originated but sometimes it does apply. Being the fallible creatures that we are sometimes we are apt to offend someone. What I find offensive as most people do is to be talked down to. What I often do after writing a response is look it over and ask myself how I think it will be received. I quite often add at the end of a post as I will this one is. Just my humble opinion. JMHO
  16. That is a mighty small area to do much of anything in. That would be considered small even for a storage shed. I think you would be hard pressed just to get all your woodworking tools in let alone be able to use them. I would not want to try and set up a shop in less than a 12'x12' building even with flip top tables.
  17. Like has already been pointed out by others DO NOT connect any type of variable speed control to a scroll saw unless it is designed specifically for that saws motor. Varying a motor speed differs greatly depending on motor type. I only want to have to replace a motor if it fails from normal wear and use.
  18. I don't think I would try it. I believe the solvent in the lacquer may work like a paint remover. I'm sure someone with more Knowledge will give you a more definitive answer.
  19. Hope the days ahead are brighter for you and your wife Edward. I also hope you do well at your show.
  20. Congratulations on your new toy. I hope you are happy with it.
  21. Yeah that's what I thought. My point was if you are the only parts supplier in the USA for Hegner scroll saw parts you have no competition and we all know what that means.
  22. Just wondering do you have any information on all the Hegner distributors here in the USA? I haven't been able to find any other than Advanced Machinery.
  23. One thing I can say about Hegner saws is at least you can get repair parts expensive as they may be. Advanced Machinery is the only authorized dealer in the USA so they have the only game in town. I don't know if the parent company has any control over what Advanced charges or not. I am of the belief that they have a very good profit margin on parts. That said at least Hegner supports their saws unlike Delta for example.
  24. I wonder if it's possible to issue a reminder for each of us to renew our support. Travis are you listening? I know I would like it. You know how it is with some of us more mature members.
  25. Well I think I take scrolling seriously in that I am kind of a perfectionist. I didn't take up this craft to make money I started scrolling for the enjoyment and something to do when the weather is bad here in West Michigan. I don't like sitting around and I like creating things and get satisfaction when they turn out well. I mostly do my woodworking projects in the winter months because I love being outside the rest of the year. I have some of the issues associated with being 72 but I am truly blessed in that I can still do most of the things I enjoy although a bit slower than I used to.
