  1. I didn't do any cleaning. But hey, on the other hand I made a boat load of sawdust .
  2. Hi Ray, I drove from Colorado Springs to Eaton to pick up this saw. It was about a 3 hour drive each way. But heck for a $150.00 Hawk I think it was a good deal. I mean it wasn't like I was going to be cutting out motorcycles yesterday getting ready for the race weekend coming up . Oh and yes I love the Hegner, that is my main go to scroll saw at the moment. I also have a DeWalt 788 setting beside the Hegner, but haven't used it since I picked up the Hegner last New Years Eve day.
  3. Thanks Kevin and Rocky, I won't have much time for a week or two to work on the Hawk. I have 4 motorcycles I need to have finished next weekends motorcycle races. But afterwards I will be looking at where to put it and start working on it.
  4. Yeah, I might have that myself before I started taping. I will remember to put that back like it was. Thanks Rocky.
  5. So yes, I made the drive and got the new to me Hawk 226 Scroll Saw and as promised I made a few videos of it so you all can see and tell me how much I messed up getting this saw. Video 1 Video 2 Video 3 Thanks for looking and please give me your feedback on this saw. Jim
  6. Woohoo, headed out to check out the scroll saw. Wish me luck and I hope I have a new (to me) scroll saw later on today.
  7. Well, if I get it (and yes she is holding it for me) I will do a little video around and you all can tell me what you think of it since you all know what you/re looking at. And heck maybe some weekend I will take a little road trip to see the folks in Kansas as long as they aren't in the field.
  8. Thanks everyone for your input and clearing up some things, I will be taking a trip to look at this saw tomorrow. I will let you know what happens.
  9. So from this view can you tell if the wedge looks like it is in decent shape?
  10. Could someone show me where the wedge is located at please?
  11. Thanks for all the input Kevin and John. Just looking at the motor is there anyway of telling the difference between the old style motor and the newer style motor? I'm wondering if she is talking about the spring that is shown on page 10. Right under that picture it says Blade Tension Adjustment.
  12. Here are a few more pics she sent me. The serial number is 10961. Is there a way I can look that number up on the Hawk website? I hope these help out some. She did say she thought the tension spring needed replacing. I'm thinking sometime this weekend I will be going and looking at this. Thanks for taking the time to reply John and Kevin. Jim
  13. Can anyone tell me about this saw? I'm thinking for $150.00, it might be a good deal. RBI Thank you Jim
  14. So I have the Hegner 15" scroll saw and table from Hegner. I normally scroll standing up and on the first day that is good. But on the second day my legs just can't do it (and this is standing on a mat). So I'm thinking what if I put a 2" brick on the back leg so the table is tilted forward and then maybe I can sit down on a stool and scroll. Has anyone did this? I'm wondering if this would put additional pressure on the welds and cause issues. Thanks Jim
  15. Hello everyone, a friend of mine said a Comic Con is coming up on one of the military bases here and wanted to know if I would want to be a vendor. I was wondering where are folks getting their comic book covers to put on the baltic birch plywood? Thanks Jim
  16. Great pattern and cutting.
  17. Thanks everyone, sorry for the delay but I've been dealing with hail damage to my travel trailer (the hail put holes in my roof) and damage to my truck (luckily those are just pits and divots). I have my grandsons birthday party this Saturday then another race weekend June 30 and July 1st. Thanks Jim
  18. I finally got around to cut this out today. Thanks to Harvey and Iggy for the pattern. This is on the same 4/4 walnut board man I love the grain in this board I have. This one has it's first coat of clear coat on it. The next ones I will be putting on the red oak base I have been using lately. Sorry for the crappy shadow in the background. Some day I will find my flash box I have and start using it.
  19. Here is the link to the website I got the pattern off of Rob. http://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/index.php Then just search motorcycle. Jim
  20. Dang, sorry to hear that Dan. That is why I keep mine on my computer, a copy on a external hard drive and a copy on dropbox. Better safe than sorry. I hope the computer store can help you out. Jim
  21. Thank you everyone, I'm very please with how it turned out. I think on my next ones, I might try to router out a slot in the middle of the base so the motorcycle can sit down in it a little bit. Not sure how deep yet, just something I have been thinking about doing. Also today I cut out a whole motorcycle in one day. I started around noon and finished up at around 7 p.m.. That was will little breaks in there. It normally took me a whole weekend. So I'm pretty happy with that and the old Hegner never skipped a beat. I did oil it after I was done. Thanks for listening to me ramble on. Jim
  22. I just finished up the Motorcycle Racer and Base. It measures right about 9" tall x 11" wide. It is made out of Walnut and Oak with 3 coats of clear coat on it. Thanks for looking. Jim
  23. Hi John, thank you very much. I'm pretty proud of this one. I'm really sweating it hoping I don't screw something up. The base is 1/2" deep and the motorcycle is 3/4" thick.
  24. Thanks Dave, yes there seems like there are quite a few folks who are interested in them. I'm hoping to have at least 3 done by the next race weekend which will be June 2-3. I just wish my day job would let me stay at home, but still pay me .
  25. I'm not sure how to word this. But this picture shows the Racer on top of the base I cut out. I'm now waiting for the glue to dry. Also is a sacrificial piece of oak (the base) and walnut (the racer) with one coat of clear coat on it. I also did a little round over cut on the top of the base to make it look a little nicer. Thanks for taking time to look. I promise the next post will be of it all finished. So it might be a couple of days before I'm posting anything else pertaining to this. Thanks Jim
