  1. Sure does mess up a guys day. Happens to all of us.
  2. I use a lot of alder. It's soft and easy to scroll. I also use it for intarsia. Very easy to shape.
  3. Thanks so much! My client chose the wood colors that I used for the names.
  4. The heart in the center was cut out of the top which is maple. I use Sherman Williams pre catalyzed medium rub lacquer which I buy by the gallon and spray it on.
  5. I was commissioned to make five of these to give to all the members of the combining family. My clients game me the idea of the design. The puzzle pieces are glue in. I chose Zebra wood for the sides because it is a biracial family.
  6. Awesome pattern and cutting!
  7. Looks like a big project. Looking good!
  8. Looks awesome. You are getting to be an awesome pattern maker.
  9. Those are super cute. Love the paint job!
  10. Super job!
  11. Looks like a woman but no idea who.
  12. Before I got a dust collector I hooked a shop vac hose to it and hooked the other end to a dust deputy and bucket. The planer has enough power to blow the dust and shavings into it.
  13. You have a point. I have never made a jig saw puzzle. I sure see the point of using a blade that small for something like that.
  14. I have never used a 2/0 blade, never bought any because I have never seen a use for one for what I do.
  15. Awesome pattern and execution.
  16. Nice job! That's sure good lookin. I agree with you on Steve's patterns. Now and then he comes up with one that catches my eye and I can put my own spin on it. I've used several and inlayed them.
  17. I did get the bandsaw blade replaced. After jumping up and down and screaming I did get their attention. That is an exaggeration. I finely was able to talk to a customer service person which I told that I would come in person to their office ( only 45 minutes from me) until something got resolved. Long story short I did get the part I needed to fix it but I will never buy another piece of equipment made by them.
  18. Great job! What type of bit did you use in you Dremel to do the mane texturing.
  19. Awesome pattern and cutting.
  20. A couple of years ago I bought a Rikon variable speed grinder to sand and shape my intarsia pieces. The top picture is an adapter that I found that would fit a 5/8" shaft. For it to fit good I had to cut the threads off the grinder shaft. In December Rockler had the low speed grinder on sale so I bought one. The slower speed seems to work better for sanding and shaping. I decided I didn't want to cut the shaft off so I went to a machine shop and had an adapter made. Works great. Sure wasn't cheap but boys toys aren't.
  21. Awesome pattern and cutting.
  22. You have sure been busy. They all look great.
  23. I think it came out awesome. Congrats!
  24. I mainly use two pieces of wood that are .4 thick. Using a #5 blade I am setting my saw at about a 1.6 degree angle. I would imagine that can vary with saw blade brand also. I have never had any luck inlaying thicker wood.
  25. Jim makes awesome patterns! Looks like you are getting along well.
