  1. These are the first two 3D cuttings I have tried. Just did one of each and I will see how the rest of the family like them. If they like them I will make some to give away next Christmas. Merry Christmas.
  2. Thanks Randy. I have noticed you seem to be on top of the latest new items for scrolling. Are you planning on getting one? It sure looks nice. Merry Christmas
  3. Has any one bought from them, if so were you happy. I also was wondering are they owned by this forum? They are having a 20% off now but I couldn't figure out how to get it. Merry Christmas
  4. Kevin we had a saying at work. "Don't work harder work smarter" Merry Christmas
  5. Some woods are harder to cut than others like oak and some say pine. There was a thread on here about ash being hard to cut. Also you can't get a 2/0 blade as tight as bigger blades (it will break) and you could be feeding it to fast. There are all kind of reasons to consider. If you could get by with a bigger blade that might help. Merry Christmas
  6. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!
  7. I am cutting a dog puzzle so do I need to change blades to cut the veining cuts? Does the veining cut need to be narrower or wider? I am using a FD UR #5 blade. This is my first puzzle.
  8. Wow Jerry that clock is something else. I am also the type of person that believes we should pay cash for our hobbies. I know a lot of people that will charge money on a credit card so they can buy a toy. In my opinion that is just plain wrong.
  9. Kevin you did a great job on those crosses. I know it wasn't easy.
  10. Ike to some extent I disagree with you. Some of these cheap scroll saws are junk when they are new. Because they are cheap some are hard to use and a person might get discouraged trying to use them and give up on scroll sawing. I don't think you need to buy the very best saw out there but buy one that is good quality and you can enjoy.
  11. Do the ladies in the UK like ear rings that big? They may like them here I don't know.
  12. I am so glad to be through making Christmas gifts. It's all the hand painting that gets old fast but I know it has to be done. I made 30 of these walnut crosses. They are finished with Watco Danish oil "natural" and are 3/16" thick. I also stack cut them two at a time. I made the crosses and my niece added the beads and string. The ladies in the family like home made Christmas ornaments so I made these for this year. Not scroll saw work but I made two of these for a couple of the young boys in the family. I also made some cutting boards and a rack for hanging bracelets and necklaces on.
  13. Sorry Bob I forgot to welcome you to the Village. It's a good place to hang out and learn. Like you I have been doing wood working a long time but just started scrolling about two months ago. I have ask a lot of dumb questions but they were all answered and if they thought it was dumb they kept it to them selves. There are a great bunch of ladies and guys here. I know you will like it.
  14. I found my EX16 at Woodcraft about two months ago. Some where out there is an EX for you but you need to be patient and be ready to act. The hard part is waiting for it to happen.
  15. Yes it's blowing away. The 20"x 20" filter catches the dust and I vacuum it off with the shop vac.
  16. I don't save any of that ""STUFF"" as I don't burn wood or sell scrap metal. I keep a small waste basket my my side.
  17. Danny my EX16 came with dust collection but it was so loud an kept getting clogged up with small cutoff's I took it off. Look at the photo and you can see what I came up with. One fan blowing across the table and into the filter of the other does a pretty good job. I also wear a dust mask.
  18. Here is another idea similar to Dans. http://www.scrollsawartist.com/birthdays-hanger.html
  19. Dan you are hooked and I can see why. They are very nice.
  20. Iggy That is good to know. I placed an order with Scroller On Line on 12/8 and still haven't got it. I ordered one thing of dog puzzles and some bird houses. They charged me $8.95 shipping. I called them today and ask about my order and they said it was on the way. I told them for 8.95 shipping I thought I should have it by now. She told me part of the $8.95 was for handling. That is not what I wanted to hear. I will not be ordering from them again.
  21. I think about four working days to Tennessee. I believe you live closer so it will take longer.
  22. Russell has a very good idea. It kinda depends on the theme of the plaque. You might think of using yarn ( color of your choice ) or twine. I really don't like my idea but you may.
  23. The question might be how loud is it.
  24. I bought it new at Woodcraft and returned it and bought an EX 16. I love it.
  25. I bought a new 788 from Woodcraft and it sounded just like yours. In my opinion there is something wrong with it. Here is a long video ( 1hr and 26 min) on how to fix your DW 788) but a good video. He will show you how to fix it and where to buy the parts cheaper. So don't go off the deep in thinking you have been taken to the cleaners. Remember mine was brand new.
