  1. Also watch Steve Goods videos on You Tube. I think he is a good teacher. Be aware not to buy everything he has in his shop or that he recommends.
  2. I hope everyone will have as good of a Thanksgiving as I will. Giving thanks, family, friends, and a great Thanksgiving meal. That is what it's all about.
  3. That fits my wife to a tee. It's hard to believe how many pairs of shoes she has. She has several pairs that are a year or so old with the price tag still on them. I don't say anything and do you want to know why? ""I know better""
  4. Well Sean they all told me to get a few blades and try them to see what you like. To some degree that is true because people like different thing and people do different types of scrolling. I like Flying Dutchman blades the best but I have Olson blades also. I like these blades the best for what I do most. The UR#3 & UR#5. https://mikesworkshop.com/collections/blades/products/ultra-reverse I also like the New Spiral at times. https://mikesworkshop.com/collections/blades/products/new-spiral Also you need to know the blades will dull very quickly and when they get dull they will make you make a mistake. A lot of times you can't even get through one project without changing blades. So if you had 12 dozen blades and thought you had a lot of blades it want be long before you will be buying more.
  5. I do know that Patrick Spielman is a well known woodworking author.
  6. I can't recommend these but Amazon has quite a few. The little bit I have learned I get from this forum and You Tube videos. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_10_10?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=scroll+saw+books&sprefix=scrollsaw+%2Caps%2C176&crid=MDYVDSS8GO6F
  7. Scott seems you had a very good sale and that is a good thing. As a general rule what things sell best at these shows? In other words what do you cut that you would dare not leave at home?
  8. Ed the lady in the first picture, does she hold the money? I thought so.
  9. Yeah that look like it would work real good.
  10. Thanks Mrs. N
  11. I used some packing tape on top of the pattern to see if it would lube the blade and it might. Some say it makes a world of difference. In another thread we have been discussing painters tape and I am just trying to find what will work best for me. I think I am going to try some painters tape that doesn't stick as good. Not sure what that is going to be though.
  12. Where can I get some Star Wars patterns. Surely they have some but I can't find them. The young boys in the family love SW and I thought I would try to come up with something for Christmas. It will be here before you know it.
  13. Do you put the packing on the wood and then glue the pattern to the packing tape?
  14. Wow!! $1000 in sales. That is great. I hope you at least do that good this time. Waiting for pictures.
  15. What kind of spray are you using??? I use mineral spirits to get it off my fingers and have never had a problem. I also use these gloves I buy from HF. I think they are very good quality. I also reuse them. http://www.harborfreight.com/9-mil-nitrile-powder-free-gloves-50-pc-x-large-61743.html
  16. Well I have been testing and I didn't come up with much. I had two pieces of 1/2" oak that has had tape on it for maybe two months. They were scrap. I heated one piece up and didn't do anything to the other. The one that I put the heat to came off easier than the one with no heat. There was no adhesive left on either piece. I also put tape on 1/4" walnut, pine, and ply and got the same results. The heat does help with getting the tape off but I still believe you might break off small pieces. I should also say I am using the blue painters tape with "Edge Lock". I think the product number is "2093EL".
  17. Although they are above my skill level "I think" kudos to you for posting this.
  18. I started out using blue painters tape and could see that I might break something so I quit using it now I have to get the left over glue off. I am now thinking about going back to tape and heating it up with a heat gun "not to hot" to help remove the tape. I will test this out today. Bottom line is I am undecided.
  19. I bet if you took your time you could find an EX. Put a want to buy ad on CL. Also put an ad on some of the better wood working forums. I know the Router Forum has a section for scroll sawing. Here is a EX16 on CL that has been on there for several weeks and they might ship it. You don't know till you ask. Somewhere out there there is an EX with your name on it. https://nashville.craigslist.org/tls/5852567305.html
  20. Thanks Denny for the pictures and telling how you made them. That helps people like me. I always enjoy looking at your cuttings.
  21. Great job Les. How thick is the wood?
  22. You would think a company like Woodcraft would pick the EX up and maybe market it as the Woodriver brand. Man what a good idea. I am just so smart.
