  4. Re Ben 2008 my Condolences , to family and friends, from what I read he was agood man, lived a good life and enjoyed an activity making sawdust with a scroll saw.
  5. I had a 788 type 1 so much better than the Dremal I was using, I used it for years did dismantle and gave it a lube job once ; watching Bob Bokaw's help videos made it an easy chore, eventually upgraded to a new Seyco sold the dewalt saw new is has had bo issues with it
  6. I source blades from Denny and Sawbird both excellent people to deal. I haven't tried the Olsen blades but hear they are very good as well
  7. I like the natural or clear danish oil and sometimes I top coat with a wipe on poly.
  8. I use the Seyco Scrollers drill most of the time it handles the micro bits very very well and these small bits will last much longer in the this little drill versus drill press or hand drill. .
  9. Enjoy your new saw

  14. Puzzles can be puzzling! Good feeling when we get it sorted out.
  15. I just got an order from Garnet Hall took 6 days including a 3 day weekend. He ships Canada Post, blades come in a regular stamped envelope. Can't beat his shipping cost. As I live in Canada and purchasing from U.S suppliers has become unreal slow and getting more expensive.
  16. I use MDF for backerboards and have seen some MDF with a papered veneer similar to what I believe you bought Baltic Birch has been my go to ornament board however 1/8 sheet jumped in price from 17 dollars to about 50 bucks in my area of the world and I have been told the lumber yards are having trouble importing it in
  17. I never used a fence but have used spirals but I find straight blades do a better job for me. Seems to me bottom side tear out is a bigger problem with spirals.
  18. I have numerous books someone already mentioned old used Patrick Spielman books You can't go wrong with them. It was also mentioned to practice, practice and practice 10,000 hours is not to much practice time. Remember first you get good then you can get fast. I been scroll sawing 20 plus years and soon as I speed things up compost always happens
  19. I have band sawn hardwoods like cherry to 1/16 with some success for ornaments and I Priced 1/16th 5'X5' marine grade Baltic Birch, real quality stuff at a nearby lumber supplier, 130.00 or so. that is 3 months agowhen at that time 1/8th was selling for 18.00. now baltic birch is very scarce. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada
  20. Yep Denny gives service I have purchased from him. I live in Canada and Garnet Hall from Sawbird, sells scroll and Intarsia patterns as well as blades, since he is in the same province shipping is much quicker ,easy and shipping cost are attractive also I like to shop close to home first
  21. Nearest Walmart is 140 miles away, probably a good thing, however this invisible tape is on the shelf at the local hardware but I still don't seeit
  22. You are off to a good start don't be surprised if you become obsessed with craft of scroll art
  23. Sorry about your back, but old scrollers just find new ways to scroll
  24. I found that actual sanding mats are not as good as a yoga mat I bought at a garage sale for a dollar
  25. Thanks for the santa Jim Blume
