  1. ha ha, realize I posted this in the wrong thread. feel free to move it Mods.... thanks fella's its been on my to do list for months....its a great way to use up scraps... Will post a pic of the back when my phone charges up...
  2. Been meaning to do some wood belt buckles. This is the first one, was thinking of scrolling some design in the corners but wanted first to see one without scrolling as the assembly on the back prohibits scrolling in the centre/bulk of the buckle. This is bullet wood, maple, oak, acacia and a sliver of ash. This is likely a bit too thick but will wear it tomorrow and see
  3. Yes you should. Over the past year or so I have found Japanse cherry, bulletwood (massarnduba), Sapelle, Tigerwood, Santos Mahogany, Wenge, Ipe, Merbau, Acacia and Meranti in addition to more common domestic woods. It is hit or miss but there are two locations close by so I make it part of my weekend routine, while there I also find a pile of other stuff I need at bottom dollar prices. One place knows me quite well and gives me crazy low prices when something is not marked as they know I repurpose it into art/jewellery.
  4. I had an 18 multimax and its cuts great but even with the quick clamp I still could not justify the time it took to do pieces with many inside cuts. From what I have seen of your work it does not seem like you do too much of the inside stuff it may very well be a good fit for you and your needs...
  5. Nice work! What is coming?
  6. Thanks, I just cut a tree from the wood and added pic
  7. great work Kevin!
  8. I like it!
  9. Rescued 40, 3 foot, 3 inch by 3/4 inch Japanese cherry hardwood flooring today. 95% of my materials are free but at times I make a buy like this when the wood is hard to get or expensive. About 6o sq feet from a re- use it store. 20$. First item i made was this celtic pendant that absolutely had gorgeous colours. I gotto two out of the cut. The wood is beautiful. Can't wait to see what I am going to make... Tonight I cut this wind battered tree from this same Japanese cherry, it's hard wood for sure. Wood database doors not have it listed though, so I can't find the janka hardness. This tree is gonna look wild when it's done I think as the collars are gonna pop with tung oil
  10. Nice stuff
  11. cool thanks
  12. okay, is gordie here on this site?
  13. went to put this and many others in a cafe that I am the feature artist of the month here in new westminster. It wasn't on the wall for three minutes before someone wanted and took it...Time to make another
  14. Those are really cool does Gordie care to share the patterns further?
  15. Really sharp in black, tell me your going to a red sox one with the awesome red sox font...! Extremley well cut
  16. Well done Dave! I make these sorts of things as pendants, although 2" is a bit big for that. I would be interested in the patterns to see if I could alter them and make them a bit smaller
  17. Well done, I have been meaning to try that face.... It's a cool pattern
  18. Would give it a great contrast, been meaning to do the brings logo myself
  19. Why not just paint the backing black and leave the oak alone as it is already goldish... Very nice cutting
  20. very well done, been meaning to try vinyl myself
  21. gorgeous!
  22. spectacular!
  23. Ya I also believe them. Will be interesting to see what the excelsior does, I have to make room for it in my shop. time to get rid of some crap....
  24. so I think you are saying that Sayco has at least one scroll saw for sale that is manufactured there as well as King via KMS and that must be the Excelsior. The 22 Jet that Sayco sells looks like extremely similar to the excelsior/king or old excalibur....This does come in line with what the King Canada guy told me about being manufactured in Taiwain. Does anyone know the manufacturer that the excalibur was made in previously? interesting find and good detective work
  25. Thief.....jealous
