  1. Thanks @Foxfoldand @Tomanydogs, there would be nothing better than kids playing with them long after I'm gone.
  2. Thanks RJ. I tried to make it well enough to stand up to him and future generations.
  3. One more gift done! Guess I should feel tardy, but nah, woodworking is for enjoyment! Tool set for our 3 year old grandson. There's also a hammer, but it somehow got excluded from the pics.
  4. The pine end grain is really surprising. Bet most people would never guess that's what it is. Great job.
  5. The absolute best use of a smartphone that I've found!
  6. I went back and added that to my original response... after thought lol. I know that Woodcraft carries a brand of CA, but I'm not sure which.
  7. I've used a few containers, in varying viscosities, of Starbond adhesives and have always been happy with it. I just recently got a bottle of their black CA and have been using it to fill small cracks, works well. I've also used epoxy made by Bob Smith Industries and been happy, and I'm pretty sure they make CA also. I order both from Amazon.
  8. Wow, that had to be extremely time consuming. Beautiful!
  9. I know, Christmas is already done, but I'm only halfway done with the Christmas gifts that I'm making for family. At the very worst they'll get them for their birthdays. I'll post the other 2 when (if) I get them done. Our son in law is getting a Tower of Hanoi puzzle. Our 8 year old granddaughter is getting a Quarto game. She wicked smart and I'm hoping she gives her dad half a chance.
  10. Very Merry Christmas to you! Never can wrap my head around you Aussies celebrating Christmas in the summer, lol.
  11. Wow, that is truly incredible! Amazing work.
  12. Great project! Looks like too artistic of painting skills for me to tackle.
  13. That's amazing! I can only dream of having those skills.
  14. I only did my first craft show this year. I did well enough to try more next year. I make mixed wood crafts, maybe only 15-20% being scroll sawed. What really made the day was the last sale of the day for $85... to my former work supervisor... trust me, I deserved it.
  15. Jeez, was 2 foot in your title all along? lol I feel like an idiot for not seeing that until now.
  16. I think it looks great for a first lesson, we're always the most critical of our own work. Isn't it wonderful all the helpful stuff that's available on the internet/YouTube?
  17. As a dog lover, I think it's great all the way around!
  18. That is simply amazing!!! If I would have just seen the pics, I would have never thought that they were handmade. They certainly have the precision of something done with a computer like a laser. Beautiful.
  19. Great job! What's the overall height?
  20. Very cool!
  21. Looks great. I recently bought some very small screw eyes at Hobby Lobby, the opening was probably about 1/8" diameter.
  22. That sounds like an awesome deal! Any houses for sale in the neighborhood?
  23. Beautiful work! Anyone would be proud to put that on their tree.
  24. As long as it's good and dry, you can cover most finishes with shellac. That's one thing it used for is providing a barrier layer different finishes. From my experiences, poly goes over most oil finishes well, again as long as the first has cured. If the first isn't cured well enough the top coat can alligator... show crinkles and wrinkles. Poly and oil finishes share a lot of the same ingredients so they work well together.
  25. A comment that I'd like to make on danish oil is that you have to be careful using it on open grain woods like oak, ash, etc. It will soak into the pores and then "ooze" back out. This is no problem as long as you keep it wiped off. If you just wipe it off once or twice and then ignore it while it dries, you can end up with spots of dried finish that are a pain to remove. Don't ask how I know of these pitfalls.
