  1. Nice! Much more detailed than the one that I cut
  2. Welcome to the "Cool" side! Pun intended. I've had a/c in my shop for several years. Bought a new, bigger unit last year.. much better now. My shop is 12' x 22' but I only cool 12' x 14' of it. I have the walls and ceiling insulated half-ass and a thick clear shower curtain separating the cool side from the non-cooled side. You may laugh but it works very well. I also have an oscillating 18" fan going. I can get the cool side down to 65°! Makes it much easier to work when you are comfortable. I see the open gable vents in your shed,, do you get lots of wasps in there? On the "hot" side of my shop I installed a 4' wide corrugated metal roll up door. I'm guessing that's how wasps get in my shop. My paddle that I made to lay patterns on when I spray the backside of them with 3M77 doubles as a big wasp swatter!
  3. Nice! How many times did you blink while cutting it? LoL
  4. Wow, really cool looking!
  5. Thanks everyone! Now that I have several pieces completed with a spiral I may attempt a portrait of my Dad who passed away in 2013. Mahendra made me an awesome pattern of him a while back.
  6. He made me a lot of money in my 401K, lets see if he can make me a little more money tomorrow at a market. LOL. I stacked cut 2, 1/8" BB ply with a 2/0 FD spiral. I'm starting to feel comfortable now with spirals, took a while though! I used 1/4" BB ply as the backers. Finished size is 11" x 14". Haven't set up at a market for a couple of years. Taking some pens and key chains made on the lathe and some scrollsaw items. Also some other items that I have been making. Btw, I posted this for your enjoyment and thoughts as a scrollsaw piece, not as a political piece.

More so in person than the pics so.

Thanks! Gotta make a wooden saw tooth hanger for it and glue it on. The backer is too thin to screw or nail a metal saw tooth to it.

Thanks Brenda! Reminds me of high school, our mascot was a Tiger and our colors were orange and black.

I made one of these a few months back and sold it to a guy at work. I'm making items for an upcoming market and thought that I would make another one. On this one I added a little hangover on the backer board and painted it black along with the outside edge of the front piece. Front is 1/2" BB ply, backer is 1/8" BB ply. Cut entirely with a spiral, I'm starting to get the hang of the spirals I think. I'll post a pic of the 1st one I made also, you will be able to see the difference that the black "hangover" makes. Well, after posting I realize that the second one was laying on something black when I took the pic so you can't see that there isn't a black hangover on it. I was also able to save the pattern this time and added it to my door. New one First one
  13. My wife had one similar in her house when we were teenagers and dating. Her Dad would tell me to have her home by a certain time, we were always late.. I blamed it on the clock!
  14. I'm sure Covid has a lot to do with it for several reasons. One being the mills were closed for a while. Another being people didn't go to work and needed something to do at home,, lots of renovations, tree houses, fences, etc. were taking place using up what was available. I also read somewhere, not sure how true it was.. about 17 years ago a beetle devastated millions of trees in Canada and the affects are being felt now. I throw my sawdust over my fence,, I'll ask my neighbor what he does with it next time I see him!
  15. You are welcome! That grain is awesome. I also put a saw tooth hanger on the back of mine in case the customer wants to hang it on a wall.
  16. Looks good! I made a sign to hang outside of my shop a few years ago and also used some poly on it. It didn't last long.... this Florida sun will eat anything! I sanded it down a bit and then used some varnish and it has lasted a couple of years now.
  17. I've looked at that pattern many times! I love it. Right back at ya!
  18. I use coated picture hanging wire. Depending on the thickness and weight of the piece, I use a #8 screw with a 1" fender washer on it, screw them in part way on both sides, wrap some picture hanging wire around them, screw them in the rest of the way.

A Sue Mey pattern. I have made about 6 of these. This is one that has been hanging out in the shop for several months so I decided to finish it up yesterday. 1/2" Walnut and 1/8" BBP. Cut with a FD UR1 with Arm-r-seal from General Finish as the clear coat.
  21. Thank you very much Marg!
  22. I'm very happy with the pattern cut, but not the frames. I'll keep working on them.
  23. Thanks! I also put a saw tooth picture hanger on it as well. Customer can choose.
  24. Thanks Scrap!
