  1. Last year a young fireman bought some plywood pieces that I put on OfferUp for sale. He was interested in my work back then. Last week he called me and asked for something for his girlfriend. He said she likes the Miami Dolphins. We decided on a wall plaque. It's 1/4" BBply, about 15"x15''. It is actually a bit more green in person than the pic shows.
  2. I think this is the first scroll saw item that I have used Oak for. 1/2" thick, about 6"x8". Still need to do a little sanding and decide on a backer. Used a 2/0 spiral on the whole piece. While on the bottom part, around his chin a wasp decided to play "lets scare the hell out of the person concentrating on trying to cut a straight line" and I got off the line a bit. I can sand it back smooth though. The first pic, it is just laying on a table. The second pic I was walking by the outdoor flag and lean the piece up against the flag and took a pic... kind of eerie looking. Reminds me of his song, The Ragged Ole Flag.
  3. Did you use 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" wheels? The website contradicts itself and mentions both sizes.
  4. Nice! Did you use a dremel to put some "texture" in the beard?
  5. Both are cool.. but I'm leaning towards the Cherry a bit more. Well done.
  6. If memory serves me correct, you have cut a few of these "scenes". You do an awesome job on them... too many holes for me! LOL

Thanks everyone! I like the Eagle better without the backer but I will attach one mainly for stability. It definitely stands out better with a backer.
  8. I appreciate everyone's words.. Thanks.
  9. Very cool looking and clever.

Found a pic online and used it for a pattern. About 8"x11", BBply. Not sure if I will put a backer on it or leave it open. It will sit next to a Flag that I just finished making and both will sit on the outdoor fireplace mantel. The Flag is approx. 9"x 17". Included pics of with and without a backer.
  11. My BIL passed away last March and I asked for a pattern to be made. Grandpa made me one that was really cool looking. I started cutting it last June and finally finished it a few weeks ago. Longest time ever cutting out a pattern for me! Only cut a few lines at a time, eyes kept filling up each time I would start cutting,, hard to see the lines with tears in your eyes.. LOL. Grandpa had some very detailed wheels in the pattern and I knew that I would deviated a bit when cutting them. By not cutting this pattern out in one sitting, I messed up on the wheels, front doesn't match the rear. Not a very good cut overall but it is for me and not for display. Thanks again for the pattern Grandpa! Btw,, Muscovy was his CB handle in the 70's and 80's.
  12. You can put it in your pocket and take it everywhere you go!
  13. It was time. I don't have much room in my shop but I made room for this. The system still isn't complete yet, not easy trying to find all the needed pipe, fittings, hoses, etc. But I'll make it work. I'm gonna try it first without having a second stage due to limited space and see how often I need to empty the bag. Once it is all put together I'll post some more pics.
  14. I was gonna ask about mounting the light on the saw and vibration.. thanks for mentioning that. I have a floor standing light/mag. that always seem to be in the way.
  15. I like it. I have a Johnny Cash pattern laying on a piece of Oak out in the shop,, not sure where it is at in my queue. LOL
  16. Those are really cool! Maybe a Jaguar is in your future? LOL I wouldn't mind giving them a try,, did you find patterns online somewhere or create them yourself? Thanks, Barry
  17. I thought that SSV broke up with me! LOL I did the unthinkable and went to FB and saw what was going on. I did a google search for SSV and clicked on the FB link.. I don't have FB but I guess it let me in thru my wife's account?
  18. Nice,, I was waiting for you to cut that one.
  19. I have a piece of 1/8" plywood about 12"x14" with a 1x2 about 12" long screwed to it. Visualize a giant fly swatter,, I lay my template on it and step just outside of my shop to spray it. It also doubles as my wasp killer when they get into the shop. LOL
  20. I too was looking for this pattern a few weeks ago and finally found it. I'm talking about the one Wichman posted. Never did cut it out thought once I found it. LOL
  21. Saw this on offerup yesterday in Orlando... and only $100! LOL Hopefully the pic works.
  22. Thanks everyone!
  23. I had someone build it. I wish I would have done it myself but I just didn't have anyone that could help,, those beams are heavy! Made from Cypress, the post are true 6x6's. I recently had a fireplace built, contrary to what people think.. it does get cold down here in Florida. It was 26° yesterday morning.
  24. Thank you sir,, much appreciated.
  25. Does Jim have a place online for all of his patterns or is everyone getting them from the Pattern Library here at the Village? Thanks, Barry
