  1. What do those of you with jointers and planers mount them on? What works best...one table or two? Regular or flip top?
  2. I really like the fence and I haven't even got it all out of the box! That puppy is solid.
  3. Only if we trade in the 5th wheel for a "toy hauler"!
  4. Yes! Looking forward to playing with my new toys...I mean tools. Besides the table saw I have not unboxed the new planer or jointer yet either! Snow and sub-zero set in and I don't have enough heat in the shop to mess with it. Hoping it'll stay a decent temp so the heater will keep up with it for the next couple of weeks.
  5. Well things are looking up. I picked up my new Delta 36-725T2 late yesterday. They loaded it with a forklift, and I managed to get it out of the pickup onto the shop floor without killing myself! I opened the box, took as much out as I could, and slid the rest down a set of ramps I still have. Tomorrow I'll work on putting it together as it's forecast to be above freezing.
  6. I'll have to look at what I was using before Pegas...but I couldn't cut a straight line to save my life. I would have to turn the material 30-40* to try and cut it. I switched to Pegas MGs and have no trouble cutting straight now. Don't know the detailed geometry behind it, geometry makes my head hurt, just want to make nice easy cuts. I don't seem to have the touch, or pay attention with my music cranked up, to know exactly when the blade dulls and should be changed. I change it when I notice I'm pushing it a little harder. I start a pattern with a new blade, most of the time, and if I'm pushing harder or the cuts are a little "fuzzy" I change. When I get ready to cut the piece away from the main board I put in a fresh blade. The only blade breaks I notice are when I've left a #1 in for a lot of cutting. All this applies to straight blades...Don't think I've ever left one of those "evil spiral blades" in long enough to get dull! That being said I would be open to trying a dozen of something else if it cut straight, turned sharp, and didn't splinter.
  7. Thanks for all the info Kevin! I'm thinking a good branding iron should work on any type/thickness of wood...and a lot cheaper and easier. That is probably the smart way to go for now as I don't need to "sign" a lot of stuff at this time. This toy can wait till I arrange and setup the shop for the exhaust aspect of it.
  8. Very cool! But yes, that does put out some smoke and I'm sure some burnt smell also. An exhaust setup of some type would be in order! Thanks for the video! I guess I had better rethink this. I was about to buy one and just set it on a table in the shop. In warm weather it would not be a problem. Just open the rollup door and roll the table just outside. I also use a 24" round fan, or is it a 36"?, in summer. But right now, 15* forecast 3*-10* later next week, it would be a problem!! I still love the idea for putting my name, and I need to come up with a logo, on things. I would also like to personalize things too. What are you cutting the ornaments out of...1/8"?
  9. I've never had one or been around one working. I didn't know it puts out much smoke or smell. How do other shops that do more laser woodwork handle it? Scott...how much smoke/smell does yours put out doing a name or the turtle?
  10. Build something shaped like this from 1/8" BB ply with a hookup for your dust collector on top...??
  11. That's strange...I was just looking at those on line last week. Half thinking about a laser, mainly for logos and names. Hearing experience and seeing pictures is always good.
  12. I was looking at that saw minus the folding stand. I was going to build it into a rolling table. From what I read they are highly rated. But I ended up going with a Delta 36-725T2 that should be in any day now.
  13. Interesting. When he first held it up I thought Woodpeckers.
  14. The Chiefs is one of the first things I did a little over a year ago. Looking forward to seeing the Chiefs win the Super Bowl this Sunday!! Although Jimmie Johnson is retired from full time NASCAR the Daytona 500 starts this year's season later this month. Jimmie was on the 2nd place team in the Rolex 24 last weekend and will run several Indy Car races this year.
  15. Chock Full O' Nuts...?
  16. They also fit a King 16". I really like mine.
  17. Great looking frame Ken!!
  18. Awesome Scott!!
  19. Awesome Barb!!! There is no wat on earth I would have the patience to cut that...much less 4 of them! Then all the painting of each layer and putting them all together...perfectly spaced! Beautiful work!!
  20. I had a car as a teenager that would classify as a "**** box" for sure, just long before the GEO days...LOL
  21. Hope he's OK. I like doing his patterns.
  22. Yup...there's ole "Ferret Face" ! Loved that show. It reminds me of some of the people I knew in the ARMY...LOL. Great job on the cut!! I've looked at that pattern a couple of times...someday I'll try it.
  23. Very nice urn. But why did you put my initials on it??? Don't you like me...are you trying to tell me something?? What did I do to you?
  24. Have you tried a pattern request? Looks super simple for some of the pattern wizards on this site. They have done some amazing stuff!
  25. I'm with Frank on this one. It's easier to tell the line from a floater (from diabetes)I have in my eye. It makes a tiny black squiggle and sometimes lines up with the blade. Light gray with a thin red line works best. What I don't like is a total red pattern.
