  2. OH! they sell cnc machines at johnsons workbeach in charalotte!! I live only 10 -15 minutes from there!!! and talk to matt.... now i'll write that down and see when spike could tkake me there to see about them.... I have 4 scroll saws im going to be taking in one at a time of course over a long pierad of time for matnanic. my two dewalts need to have the air blower t hingy put back on and then I have 2 smaller scroll saws im going to want to see what shape there in and if there worth fixinf because if they are I will gradualy get those fixed to for my grandson... one I will keep here for him to use when hes visiting and the other id like to give to him for xmass this year. were both a bit upset about the corna viris thing because we planned to have him really start scrolling this summer..but of course we havnt been able to do that yet. thanks for information!!
  3. I started wood working in the late 70s....right after my ex and I got married....I have a picture of a veery young me learning how to use a dermal...we lived in an apartment at that and I think that was the only tool we had!! lol I think I put up a line cutting I did with a jack knife but not sure...in 1977-78 I made a totom pole with just a little ax and yup my jack knife lol I know it was done then because I was pg with my son when I started it and I finished it just after he was born. lol then I have 2 wood carvings I did in 79 (my son was still just a baby no more then one IF he was that old. lol) one of them is an indian head and the other is a persons fist with a hole in it so It can hold a pencle. lol I did those in my early 20s. lol I also have a black wooden rocking chair that we got at an action that I carved the design that was on the back of the chair... I still have that old rocking chair...lol and yes that to was done with my jack knife. lol I don't know what finally happened to it...don't remember if it finally broke or just got lost in one of our various moves. lol so yes although im just now starting to try out the hard stuff I have been doing wood work for a very long time.... now for the pattern of the family tree... while the power and phone were out it gave me a chance to look through a bunch of my patterns and I did find one in my plastic canvas patterns …. not sure if I have any others in my vast laibary of patterns of all kinds and I did scan it into my computer... I also found a sun picture frame in the same book that holds several pictures that I will put up....the problem im going to have is making the patterns large enough to do in wood. for those of you who don't know anything about plastic canvas the pattern is seldom if ever printed full size because you stitch the pattern on pieces of plastic canvas which is like a thin plastic with rows and colloms of holes in it that you stich or kind of sew into the holes to make the picture.... I also need it to have more openings for pictures in it so I can fit all my kids and spouces ( one picture hole for them there spouse and child ) can then one for my 2 brothers and one sister...one for mom and dad and one for me and spike...so that's like 8 pictures id like to put into it.... then like I said I loaded up the star picture frame that has several holes in it that I want to make to put pics of my pets in....we have to take both of the dogs to the vet for checkups today so I will put the pictures up in the can you make this pattern for me froum either after we get back or hopefuly tomarrow… lets see i'll need at least 5 holes in the star to get my most recent animal children pics in... iv had more then 5 animals in my life time of course but these 5 are spical to me for various reasons... but like I said ill put the pictures up... now sure weather to put up the picture of the finished work that's in the mag or just the pattern.... or maybe both lol we'll see I guess lol i'll put one or the other up soon and if you need the other you can let me know lol thanks for being so paticent while I looked for the pattern lol between woodworking sewing crocheting, knitting machine knitting and plastic notto mention emboridy and machine emboridy and the sand blasting and glass ingraving patterns I v been collection for over what 35-40 years it can take me awhile to find a spicifc pattern which is why I just grab a stack of patterns when im looking to make something new and then just grabe and trace out one or two to put on wood or gather the proper materals for what ever stricks my fancy while im looking through the patterns lol if that makes any sense. lol I hope everybody has had a good few days and no one had to much damage if they were in the path of the storm lol
  4. love the cars or trucks lol may i ask what type cnc machine you have and what it can do? my youngest daughter and her husband are moving to maryland in a few weeks and i have saved a tidy little sum to give them to help them get started in there new life....frountly my daughter has been hiard for an elementary juinor hight school as there art teacher so there haveing better luck finding a place to live..( lol just as i told them would by the way...lol as an ex landlord i know most people wont rent to you no matter where your comming from if you dont have a job yet. lol ) and i v been able to save up a tidy sum ( part of my income tax return lol) so im beginning to look at cnc machines again ...iv been looking at one called x carve i think it is..but its about 2 thousand dollars...i can go that high if i have to but want to look a several and get some more information and perhaps a little advice on what would be the best by. id like it to do the ingraving and a little carving....i think its like low relief and or perhaps high relief carving...it they make one that does that...i only mention the carving part because of the name of the machine... and how hard is it to use the program that comes with it to make patterns.....but i will most likely just down load as many free patterns for the cnc mmachine as ican and perhaps start buying some here and there like i did when i first bought my scroll saw 40 some odd years ago. does any of this make any sense??? i hope with this information that iv put up you guys might be able to help stear me in the right direction....spike usuly helps me with things like this but he dost know anymore about cnc machine then i do. thank you so very much for what ever help you can give me...
  5. those are fantastic!!! there so pretty..i think you can tell that i like them lol
  6. that is simpley beautyfull!!! ajusted the angle? humm ok i take it cutting it on an angle makes it easer to insert the inlay?? lol not knowing how to do something has never stoped me from doing it !! the playing cards box i made and inlayed with the sutes looked pretty good...humm wounder if i ever put that up.
  7. those are great!!! you are so talinted!!
  8. yes of course you can use it once I find it, but it could take awhile...I think I saw one in my plastic canvas books...if it is all we will have to do is enlarge it and cut it out...and im looking through my wood magazines to...if I don't find it in those mags i'll check my sewing patterns...if its in the sewing mag its the same thing just enlarge it and trace it onto the wood....and if you find one before me would you share it with me...like I said I have over 30 years of different kinds of patterns to go though from different materals...lol
  9. i agree with everyone else there great!!!
  10. i love them all!! my favorite one is the hands and rose...where did you get a the pattern ? id like to make some for loved ones who have passed on like my mom dad and older brother...i was thinking i could put there pictures in them instead of the name...or maybe make the name smaller and then put in under there pictures? they would also make great christmas presents for my siblings.... was thinking of making one for my first service dog...he passed on years ago but i still have his picture .... right now besides everything else im going through my patterns trying to find a family tree picture frame to hang on the wall with all my loved ones....it might take a while of searching for it because i have decades of patterns to go through!! lol you did a fabulious job and now you know why i usuly stick to simpler words when i like something i cant spell worth a darn!! lol
  11. oh wow!! that looks great!!

  17. lol i dont know about it averageing out lol But if my darling had his way id be an invalend by now!! We bought a back brace today and i will try wearing that when i first get up and start doing things tomarrow... I put it on when he first brought it home and at first it felt good, but after sitting in my chair for a little bit cutting plarn i had to have him take it off because my back started annoying me again.....so i took some ibeprofen and hopefuly that will help... and then of course i get out of breath anytime im walking around trying to do things which is normal with copd but God Bless the man hes driving me crazy with are you alright? or why dont you just sit down someplace!! lol i can get you what ever you want....lol ahh i love that man so much !!!! you see iv been in constent pain for the 15 years weve been together...and now that the bowtox is working he dosnt want to see me in any kind of pain or discomfort!!! unfrountly life dosnt work that way...i guess were both trying to get used to the new normal...and as iv said in the past he dost know how i can be doing one project while thinking about and planning another project , watching tv and playing on the computer all at the same time!!! lol the only way i can try to expline it is : iv raised 3 children and you cant concentrate on just one thing at a time and get anything done when your raising kids and animal kids lol speaking of which i have a porkchop in the oven that needs to be taken out now!!
  18. thanks guys I still have a pretty good sized piece of that thick wood so im going to cut out 2 more bulldog toothpick holders so I don't use the wood for something else lol then I put them in my needs to be finished box. lol iv been getting outside today...Spike put up my hamic chair outside so I can sit out there and read or crochet or something... right now im in the middle of washing my 2 knobes and my standing Dragon.... I got the 2 knobes washed and in the yard in the corner where the pourch meets the house...The dragon is in the sink waiting for me to get around him. lol then I dug out the dragon plant holder from the gragrage ….I have to clean that up too and then make a new foot for him because he lost one in the move...hes sitting in the woodshop waiting for me....but I have to sit and rest every few minutes when im trying to do things which annoyes me to no end!!! lol im used to going and going and going ….this do one little thing sit rest for half an hour or so then do another little something I don't like at all but sigh such is life!! lol I also got the wizard pattrn printed out and read to put on wood and I got a ton of little birds and birdhouse compound cut patterns I want to do as well as a compound cut wizard and dragon compound cut patterns I want to cut....I have to have spike cut some of the 1/4 inch bb for me and then I have a few more shaver holders to do and 2 fret work trivets and coasters to cut...that's on my list for wood working lol im still making squares for my sweater and looking for a new crochet project to start for either the give away box or the inventory boxes...theres just SO MUCH I want to do!!! and this darn body of mine is not cooperating at all!!! to say im frustrated would be an understatement and if my dear darling honey dosnt stop telling me to go sit down ever time im short of breath or he can tell im in pain hes going to need to go rest some place after I hit him over the head with a cast iron frying pan!!! lol don't get me wrong I love the man dearly but hes beinning to get on my nerves lol
