  1. I also hear the the song free bird.
  2. tattoo images are a great inspiration. fantastic artist. It looks good on your wood. I might do that with olivewood. With the olivewood having a peaceful meaning.
  3. good idea , keep a bigger base to show off black walnut grain.
  4. Hi villagers.. I just got done with a small 4 inch logo. My daughter in law has set up her practice for therapy called "Three Feathers Therapy". This her logo.. This is my small 4 inch plaque. Made from Butternut wood. Wow that is soft wood. 2/0 spiral blade was used. She did not mind to add a bit of tint to the wood. I played with my green and orange transtint dye. Butternut wood did pretty well with green and orange. The middle feather I used water-based stain Provential brown. Very diluted, just to get the tan effect. The 3 bigger stand alone feathers : ( left to right) are oak, olive, canarywood. The oak did not do well with green dye after the finish darkened the oak. Olive is so pretty no tint was needed. Canarywood is orange enough with no stain. The off angle pic has a better angle to show green tint. This angle also shows that I added texture to the edge of the feathers. Spiral blade with slight pressure changes left to right. Lessons learned: Butternut wood is soft. Leaves fibers behind. Breaks easily. "feothors" now has a definition. Scollsawyers need therapy when using butternut. Olive smells like olive oil when cutting. Olivewood is my favorite wood due to smooth creamy patterns. It is hard to find good uses for olivewood to show off the grain patterns. Canarywood wood smells fruity. Nice orange color after an oil based finish. Nice to play with. Me. Mark Eason
  5. Very classic hot rod. The wind blew his hat sideways. Oh he is just looking at the camera.
  6. But you forgot the red lipped cowgirl !! Nice project. The ganged panel makes it standout more. Plus you can up the cost. Maybe some wine tasting room will purchase it. Me. Mark Eason
  7. When I tried a butterfly it was the first intarsia project I did. It is hard to get each piece to fit. Especially the short ones near the bottom. Looking at yours it looks beautiful. So it is natural to say it is easy to do. But because each piece fits smoothly it is just the opposite of easy. I know better. Thank you for making it look easy:) Wood choices are superb. Zebra wood is great to get the butterfly texture. And butternut to get a bit of orange. Well done.
  8. ok other stupid mods I did. Added a small 12v to magnifier arm. Added sandpaper held on with magnets (2) on a stick. I sand the edges of the blades for better clamping. Added accessory box with magnet in the bottom. Spare bottom clamp is in the box. And here is 2 pics of the funnel and container for large dust. Black tube is drip system tubing that extends funnel. last pic is the dust mound in the can.
  9. I also order another spare bottom clamp.
  10. That is a very nice unit you got there. There are holes in the legs and I put a shelf on using those holes. I had to check that the blade is straight left to right the same as the bottom clamp. There is Alan screws on the opposite side of the thump knobs clamps. You might have a newer version that has Alan screw in the of the top arm to adjust front to back. Looking directly at the end ,inside the clamp arm. Mine only has 2 positions of bottom clamp to adjust agressive (front to back) cutting.
  11. this post is a good reminder to go wax my hawk.
  12. read my last post here. But the full thread gives some good ideas also.
  13. I bought this in 2020 for $400. It has a lower serial number. It even has half the power. No problem with anything. OCtoolguy said to look at the tension lever area to see if was still pointed. It was not used much. Wow that was 4 years ago. Hah... You can see my dust collection system in that picture. No noisy vacuum. I put a funnel in the already existing hole in the chassis. The funnel goes into the can.
  14. I too saw your video on YouTube. great topic of cacti.
  15. My methods: I don't do alot of fretwork. 1) drill press allows precise angles and longer drill bits to go straighter. 2) hand battery drill makita. 3) I have a harbor freight $5 version that I never use. But if I did fret work I would probably use it.
  16. Yep, very admireable
  17. yeah. Glad to see you're work again.
  18. Yep, the family is taking on a great adventure. Extra challenging to head west. Oh your saying the cutting is extra challenging. Yes but it looks great. I had to look closely, i think the child is a girl peeking out of the covered wagon.
  19. Ray that project above needs a bit more marbles.
  20. very nice keyboards.
  21. Us engineers can make things complicated. This one also mesmerizing. San Jose Airport has a ball contraption that I like to watch. The one posted above is more complicated. I like this one, it has a cam shaft. Think about how to time that top dead center. Pretty cool. The birds beak has a timing cam also. The disk that holds marbles has angled holes to hold the steel balls in. So Ray just let me know what to send you. Since I still work I won't have much time for team project. I won't mind helping when I can. Me.
  22. if you don't have enough scraps let me know. I will send you some AND then I will buy this from you.
  23. Pink Barbie doll foot locker. Pink food coloring. Osmo wax finish. Kids toy safe.
  24. the color "neon turquoise" is awesome. The dark background does the haunting effect. Maybe make a dark jungle green background? But that might take away from the turquoise. I would not make the panther pink. Might have copyright issues. To make it more mean looking might show some teeth. Bright white and red blood dripping. The background does provide an important feel. There is not much area to change background. The panther as it is might be a good side kick for the green lantern scenes.
  25. Somewhere on the village someone said they face the blade backwards.
