  1. Wife's sister lives in a park, as well. Her address is HB but I don't recall her street address. She owns the mobil but pays around 2K lot rent. I'm 83 y.o. and we moved from the mountains up north to our present location 3 years ago. Moving is a bitch! Especially all my tools.
  2. There's worse places than HB. I lived on Plymouth a few blocks inland from Beach Blvd. for 18 months. I do prefer the open deserts 🏜 of AZ though. We're just not city folk.
  3. Re:an older post...How did your house hunting in AZ turn out?
  4. Been studying books and watching YouTube a lot lately and I think I'll try something I'll refer to as segmentarsia. Some shaping of pieces...more like just easing the edges on some pieces. And, using different thicknesses without any elevating pads. I can see putting the Foredom to work, too. Just glue the pieces at different elevations. Probably stick with a single species. Soft maple or poplar would likely work. And, use a lot of different stain blends. And dabs of paint. Might even use a bit of drywall mud. Purists may (likely will) scoff but, it should be quite fun. Who knows, it may even result in a nice piece.
  5. Well, Dick. After studying it and reflecting about them widows, I've come to the conclusion that they're just fine. To change them would be a real "pane" in the glass..so to speak.
  6. I don't know what sex dragons identify as so, I'll just say "it's" a real beauty.
  7. After lots of head scratching my DeWalt scroll saw has a new home. It was just parked on a metal welding table my son fabricated. Not the handiest situation. Not the right height. No place for my feet. Just not a satisfactory location at all. So, I built a stand with a 15° front tilt and locking wheels. I'll sit on an adjustable height office chair with a high back and generous arms. That chair served to determine the height of the front of the table. I can rest my arms on the chairs arms and it's just right to manipulate the work on the saw table. It's really quite comfy. Now, the sawdust can begin accumulating.
  8. DITTO!!
  9. Scrolling is making lawyers and politicians out of us all.
  10. Try a chevalet. It'll keep your appendages engaged.
  11. Thanks a bunch, Bill. I'll certainly try that.
  12. Bill, I'm a raw novice. It takes me forever to get the blade in that lower clamp correctly. Maybe I just need practice.
  13. My reasoning was that that it might be easier to clamp the bottom clamp. For me, it's a royal PITA. .
  14. Dick, you can't get it much righter than these examples.
  15. Great job! I'll bet she'll love it.
  16. Absolutely! And, in an instance like yours and Ryder's, priceless.
  17. It's great when the scroller can collaborate so closely with the pattern artist. Great work ensued from the melding of minds. Ryder will treasure that forever. As, I'm sure granddad will, as well.
  18. Before I shell out for them I think it would be a good idea to ask y'all if they would make clamping the lower end easier. What's your thinking? Thanks in advance.
  19. Wow. Fantastic job.
  20. That's wild! Gorgeous, though.
  21. Learned my lesson back in the 70s when I threw a batch of Watco soaked rags in a 5 gal. plastic paint bucket. It didn't totally combust but, the bucket began to melt. Garden hose to the rescue! Now, the used rags get spread out on the rocked driveway.
