  1. Welcome to the village Alan !
  2. Exactly ! It doesn't need to be festool standard, just needs to be quiet and have enough "suck" for what I need. I have a DD to attach and with a bag in it dust shouldn't be a problem. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on it on Amazon give it a whirl.
  3. Here's a YouTube video ....Ray Maybe it's not called that but when I first saw it that's what they called it But I've seen them on Amazon and other sites too
  4. This thread has gone off topic a little. I'm happy with my garage setup and do not wish to change it, if I need to cut up something I can nip out there and cut it and be back inside in a couple of minutes, no clean up required. This is great cause it's uninsulated and very cold in the Midwest winter. I'm just setting up my scroll saw shop in the basement and need a new vac. I'm not opposed to spending the money on what I want, which is just a quiet vac that works. Yes I can go pick up a $500 Festool midi but if the DeWalt is as quiet as advertised it sounds like a winner for only $165. I was just wondering if anyone here had tried one and if it was as quiet as advertised.
  5. I've seen your design for the hawk dust collection although this looks to be modified from the last time I saw it. I actually have all the parts to do this I just haven't had the time to do this.
  6. I've posted these elsewhere but..,
  7. The problem with that is the track saw and router are festool too, and it tool triggered and designed to work and fit the vac ... Don't want to go back to turning the vac on use the tool turn it off...and trying to find hoses to fit the tools. That defeats the reason I bought them in the first place.
  8. It's a basement bedroom, my house is a tri-level RJ. All the kids have left home so I thought I'd put it to good use. I only started scrolling a couple of months ago so it's kind of new and unorganized right now, but it will be warm in the winter !
  9. Festool vac is pretty quiet Ray but I do most of my saw and router cutting in the garage and It's dedicated to the track saw/ router. I don't want to be carrying it in and out all the time. I do have a dust collector out there for the table saw and planer but it's useless for the small tools. At $165 bucks it's not expensive for the convenience of having it dedicated to the scroll saw room in the house.
  10. I've got a couple of vac's a festool and a no name cheapy, but I'm looking for a new one that's quiet. I don't like wearing headphones and I hate how loud my cheap vac is. I've watched some videos of the quiet DeWalt and it looks impressive and just wondered if anyone had any experience with it
  11. Welcome to the village!
  12. I'm in the market for another vac, I read good things about this one and it's pretty quiet apparently. Not looking to spend a fortune on a Fein or another festool, anyone have any experience with this one?
  13. Thanks ...I originally bought it as a second saw as I have a hawk, but after doing a test cut on it I found it so much easier to follow the line and just move my hands around .... I've been busy today but tomorrow I'm hoping to make a stand for it and give it a real test run to see if it wasn't just a fluke ..
  14. Thanks for the heads up Charlie E!
  15. It's used but like new ...Delta 40 694
  16. As some might know I got another saw today and I can't believe the difference between them. I've no experience with any other saw but the hawk I've been using, and up untill now I've been real pleased with it. Fast forward and I pick up a piece of scrap draw a wiggley line like a jigsaw puzzle peice and wizz round it twice as fast as I do on the hawk and stay on the line with ease. Everything seemed so much easier. Are the double parallel link arm saws that much easier to use or is it just me.... I kinda feel cheated right now LMAO When I get the time to sit down with it and cut something worthwhile this may be my main saw if it continues to cut like that.
  17. Not that I know of .... I can't tell you any more than what I said, it's just one of those useless facts you pick up. You could Google it if your interested to know more.
  18. Any tree that either produces a seed with either a fruit or a shell is considered a Hardwood. Useless fact # 541 that i somehow know
  19. Agreed I'd already told myself I was not going to cut that hole next time and use a a drill lol. Yep the wood was just a old chunk of 2*4 but it's not meant as a keeper just to cut and learn. I must admit I hate sanding I'm going to have to spend more time at it and find some more efficient ways to do it . Thanks !
  20. Amazon, 45 12*12*1/4 and about $80 with tax
  21. I received my delivery of plywood today its A grade and I went though it all and all the faces are perfect, also the face plys are nice and thick. I'm always concerned about buying stuff like this online and unseen but this was as advertised and I'm very pleased with it. It's a shame I'm going to butcher it . Should keep me busy till I can locate some good full sheets .
  22. I love these, I think I said that to the last one you posted ...keep em coming ! they are gorgeous!!!
  23. I also think the colors are great and the lettering crisp. Great work
  24. One of Steve good's
  25. Thanks Chris, believe it or not I was struggling ot find a piece of 2x4 never crossed my mind to laminate some scraps together .... Great idea... I'm thinking of trying my new airbrush out on it, throw some acrylic on it.
