  1. For me I do stuff a bit different. This piece I would cut the pieces separately from some scrap and glue them onto the backer board. This way, if you screw some up, you have not ruined the entire piece. Once done it gives a different 3 d effect.
  2. Below the table.
  3. The panels are 6 x 6. Thanks
  4. Took an interest in this to see how it would turn out.
  5. I tried to get into this earlier in the year but it never worked out. Just too expensive. The matting materials and all just seemed to cost too much, It turned out for my just to use wood or foam boards. Here is an example of how I do mine. The orange part is just a piece of baltic birch like the rest of the picture is. This little black line around it, the white line and the black border are also cut from the same baltic birch. This technique cost maybe $2 or so while the actual matting even if I did it myself would be quite a bit more and not get the same effect. I would still need to frame it after that. The frame here is 4 pieces of scrape cut with a miter box and glued on. Sometimes I will just make a black square depending in the size it needs to be.
  6. You could glue a backer on. Pretty simple. It it were me I would glue a piece of 1/8" bb onto the back. Paint it white first. Then once its dried just cut it to size right along the borders of the piece. It will only have one side but not the end of the world. This way you can keep the original dark wood and still have the cuts stand out.
  7. I use a rubber stamp of a crow on the back. All my pieces are flat in the back so plenty if room. Write my name and the date under it. The crow is sort of my thing.
  8. I use spray glue. I just use way way less/ I will use a super light spray, maybe 1 second per sheet. Then i let it sit for at least 15 minutes until its barely tacky, barely. then put it on the wood. stays in place, pulls right off when i am done.
  9. I only use a hand drill plus I put a plank under the piece I am drilling.
  10. As you can plainly see only the men and the frame are scrolled. A bit of a departure from me usual stuff.
  11. This is one of my favorite places in Laughlin, Nv
  12. I hate those patterns that just seem to boggle the eyes. Whats worse is when you start cutting and halfway through you get that scrollsaw hypnosis i call it and forget what you are doing. Was I suppose to cut that or leave that? I think it is overthinking that has something to do with it, at least in my case it is. Scrollsaw hypnosis also kicks in on long straight lines where your focus goes in and out, your mind wanders and you have to focus and refocus and it takes everything you have just to stay on the line. Big circles will do this too for some reason.
  13. Thats nothing. I can make full beer cans into empty ones at laser fast speeds.
  14. Just finished this piece.
  15. Looks great, cant wait to see the finished product!!
  16. I am not that nice. If my loved ones get into legal trouble thats on them, they should have known better,. Either way thanks for the heads up.
  17. Same happened to me and I bought a larger monitor and its way better than the little old one I had. My computer doesnt have hdmi output so just used that weird plug in cable thing instead. Looks almost as good as hdmi, i really cant tell the difference.
  18. I put them in as I go along. Used to do them one at a time but now I will do a small section of holes. Cut that area out and keep going like that. If i dont i end up with double holes or some of the holes get filled with sawdust and I have to drill them out again.
  19. Try to fill it , sand and paint it. If that doesnt work, do a new one.
  20. Honestly you could just sand that by hand in about the same amount of time and probably get better results.
  21. I just cut the black line. When i started years ago i thought the red line was easier but it was a pain to make everything red. Just relax. you know what needs to be cut, just do what you know and dont over think it.
  22. I somehow managed to lose my last can in my apartment. Never did find it so had to buy a new one. Still wonder where that can is. Lost a beer like that too and about 6 months later found it behind my workbench, Must have fallen behind there somehow. At least it landed upright.
  23. I am a dust collector but i like mine in a nice even layer on all my stuff in the house. lol
