Lots of shaping/forming, (read sanding). A lot of fun to make. I plan on finishing it with shellac using the the French polish method.  
However, I don’t have the guts to attempt what ScrollerPete is doing. One of these days Pete, one of these days. 

Very nice.  I am getting ready to cut a bowl from her book as a wedding present.  Just wondering what angle you cut that at?

It depends on the thickness of your board also check “angle calculator by Van Ness

I set it at 28 degrees. I put the final finish on the bowl today. I’ll be posting a picture or two.

I haven't been doing much-making things in the shop. There is much broken stuff. I made these fluffy kittens today for a custom order. Nothing fancy, just some cutouts for her to paint. I cut them from a piece of premium pine from Home Depot.

this is the project I just finished working on because I got an email from a friend of mine with my favorite woodworking question: can you make this?

I don’t have the skill (or saws) you talented folks have, but I do what I can. (I didn’t do the actual skull or antlers)

A friend posted the first pic on Facebook. I liked it so I thought I would try something different. I poured epoxy resin first, then cut the pattern I made, then filled in with more epoxy

A client wanted red oak.   Why not try a new wood type. 

So here is the rings glued together.  The wall thickness is 0.12 inches. 

Not sanded yet.
