don in brooklin on Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 I made a donation to Steve's family as requested to keep the catalogue going but then I decided to also download the 2007 - 2024 file. It is really quite straight forward as I have a Paypal account. You pay and get a link to download. It is a little over 4Gb and didn't take long as I have high speed internet. You get a zip file but it is not compressed as it unzips at same size. There are 4,973 pattern files and 1 index file. The "index file" is a pdf that is 556 pages of pictures and name of the pdf. The names are images and not text so not searchable. I am trying to create something that is searchable. I currently have a spread sheet with the file name and a hyperlink to the PDF on my system. Just okay as the names are not always descriptive. Question; Has anyone got the patterns on the stick? Does it contain the jpg of the pattern? In the video Steve mentions that there is a matching jpg. If so I may wait to see if the 2025 pattens get added and order it that way. Aaron K5ATG, OCtoolguy and artisanpirate 2 1 Quote
Wichman Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 I have the stick. There is both the .pdf and the .jpg of every pattern on the stick. OCtoolguy and artisanpirate 2 Quote

JimNC Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 I too have the stick. Took awhile to figure out the "search" part but once I did master it worked great. Lots of patterns there. I would advise anyone who does have one to get one. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

To search the download file there is only a huge PDF that is just 559 pages of images so not searchable, you just have to sit and scroll. Also, I have found that some of the files are not on. My wife's favourite gnome is https://www.stevedgood.com/iheartyou.pdf. Another that is not there but I have used is https://www.stevedgood.com/bballplayer.pdf I wrote to Steve about this a long time ago and he never got back to me. kmmcrafts Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 I've always wanted to buy the patterns but never did get to it. Is there someone still maintaining the site and handling the sales? I know if something ever happen to me my wife is about clueless of how to do much of anything online and the things she has to do for work she will be at the computer for 5 hours for a 15 minute thing just because she thinks if she clicks on something she's going to accidently delete it or something. ... Used to have my computer set up to open a new screen when you click a link and she would freak out because she couldn't figure out how to get back to the other page, . Anyway, I'd love to buy the stick but I'm not sure if I would actually get it.. Let me know if there is someone still working the site and mailing these out etc. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

don in brooklin on Posted March 7 Author Report Posted March 7 My issue is when you down load the file you do not get the jpgs. You get it on the stick. Hopefully Kelly and her husband will issue a new version with 2025 and I will order a stick. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
timelett Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 What I did was received the stick and the instructions advised to copy it to your hard drive, you need a lot of space, I copied it to a external hd,and the image and pattern are available. I don't think my computer can handle a download that large, there's a lot of patterns on there. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
rjweb Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 Keven, I just ordered it and tracking coming Monday, I think they will probaby get someone to work the site as far as sales go, that could be income for them, just my opinon, RJ OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 I ordered it, but paypal on the final invoice showed the mailing address as my home, even though I had changed it. I do not get usps delivery at my house. So I do not know if I will get it or not. Things like this are why I deleted my PayPal account a few years ago. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Jim McDonald Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 I just ordered the stick and will probably see it Tuesday or Wednesday. Steve was using a fulfillment company to handle the sticks and I would assume his personal machines were for the downloads. He was great with computers, so it would not surprise me if he didn't have a small server on premises. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 (edited) Strange, I went to the blog to order the USB and when I click on it, it takes me to a log in page and I don't have any accounts. Anyone else getting this? I tried it on both chrome and edge browsers thinking maybe something was wrong there. EDIT: I clicked cancel and then the page loaded and was able to purchase.. Not sure what was happening but it finally went through. Edited March 8 by kmmcrafts OCtoolguy and Jim McDonald 2 Quote
flarud Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 I ordered the stick a few days ago. Hoping that it does have some sort of index on it. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Horseshoe Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 I have downloaded his 2023 and also his 2024 catalog. Both of them have the picture of the project in jpg. and the pdf of the pattern. There is a catalog pdf with all of the patterns and pictures included with the download. I have not found a way to search the different files, I usually use the online website to search for anything I might want. There I can search pretty much anything I want. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

flarud Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 I received my stick but I have not tried it yet to see if there is some kind of search feature or index. For several years now, the first thing I do when I get on the computer is to go to Steve's site and see what the new pattern is each day,, I found myself still doing this for the last several days. Unfortunately no new patterns have been added and never will be again. RIP Steve. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 Took around 6 days to get the stick in the mail for me.. I opened it up and seen what the content of the package was as I had ordered other stuff too. I set it aside and low and behold if I can't find where I put the darn thing now, LOL.. I guess I should have just downloaded it so that way at least I'll know it's in a file on the computer somewhere. Anyway, it'll turn up when I least expect to find it and I do have it somewhere now.. just where? I don't know but I do have it. LOL OCtoolguy, ChelCass, jerry walters and 1 other 4 Quote
Jim McDonald Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 I received my stick and will download it tonight. I know there are some all time favorites on there and some I may have missed--but will now want. Do I want everything-- of course not--but I now have the ability to have them close at hand. meflick, ChelCass and OCtoolguy 3 Quote

So many times, when I do something, like with a screwdriver, I will purposely sit on it so I know where it is. But, when I go to get it, it is not there. I hate that.
