  1. Those are nice DW.
  2. That came out really nice.
  3. Found this pattern over on another forum when searching for a fleur de lis. I used it with persmission from the gentleman who created it. I doubled it's size (which left the cut lines very ragged and had to eyeball a lot of it to make them smooth.. and I added the black backer) A friend who lives in Louisiana wanted a fleur de lis as a present for her mother. It measures 7.5 inches wide and 16 inches tall on the back piece. The front piece is about 11 inches by 11 inches. Backer is 1/8" BB, the background piece is cherry, and maple for the fleur.
  4. Welcome aboard!
  5. Nice job.. can you give us some more info on it... wood thickness, what blades did you use...
  6. Welcome Bob. I have never cut a jigsaw puzzle yet. I really prefer fretwork.. but not something that has 10k holes and it takes longer to thread the blade than make the actual cut. LOL But I've only been scrolling for about a year now.
  7. I'm hoping to get more work done on my deck I have been rebuilding. that's about it.
  8. I like that. Where did you get the pattern from?
  9. it works if you copy it out .. I got the pdf from it earlier.
  10. Mine does that. I have mine on a foot pedal, and just tap it so that the arm lifts up all the way.
  11. I was practicing using one, because I was thinking of cutting something that would be 30 inches long.. but most of the cutting would be going side to side cause of the length.. The only other way I can think of, is turn the saw and cut from the side so I'm still pushing into the blade like I'm used to, but that would mean risking the blade contacting the table itself.. which I don't like to think about.
  12. I like them all. I really like how you put the deer in the frame. Did you cut the deer, then cut a backer to fit the frame, then just center the deer on a backer? With the fancy corner pieces?
  13. i saw that pattern in Scroller.. I thought about getting it. Very nice cuts. I dont' know how you all use those spiral blades. every time I try, they go all over the place.
  14. I use Olson.. I have not done 1/2" maple, but I am regularly cutting 3/8" ash and I'm using a #2/0 scroll reverse blade with no issues. I did stack cutting of 1/4" maple last fall doing 2 in a stack and I used a #2 scroll reverse from Olson, and had no issues.
  15. Very nice. I like it.
  16. I've thought about it for when I'm turning.. but not so much during scroll sawing.
  17. You know, you're going to have to make her one now Clayton.. LOL
  18. I really like the lightswitch pattern.. Very nice. Where did you get it?
  19. You all can guess where the pattern came from. I did take it down from 1/2" thick to 1/4" thick.. I really don't like to scroll 1/2" thick wood.
  20. I like that.. where did you get the patterns?
  21. A clear coat no. But painted, it should prob be fine. Just have fun with it.
  22. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone really using MDF as a material. But yes, you could paint it if you want to. I would think that MDF being mostly a resin to bond the material, would tend to dull the blades quicker, and may not produce as clean of a cut line as real wood or even a ply. I've not seen or entered any shows though, to really say if painted stuff is generally not accepted. I prefer to just clear coat my wood. I only use ply for the backer board of my projects. I have yet to make any project just from Ply.. though I have thought about it.
  23. I can tell you're definitely a razorback fan. LOL
  24. Here are 2 new projects. Both are Sheila Landry designs. (When aren't I cutting one of her designs? LOL) This one measures about 6.5 x 8.5 inches, and is cut from 3/8" cherry with Minwax semi-gloss poly finish. This one is her laundry room design. Measures about 8x 10. Cut from 3/8" thick ash. In this pic, it has not been poly coated yet.
  25. A few folks here have been using a Ryobi for many years. Your sounds like it has some great features on it.
