  2. I think this is your all time best piece. I love it Dick heppnerguy
  3. I know that I have not been on very often in the past month or so but with the move , buying all new furniture and setting up my shop, I have been pretty busy. However I did manage to get a few requests and decided it was about time to show you all that I am not permanently asleep here in the land of the sun. So here are some of the things that I remembered to take photos of before I shipped them. The light was poor in the room I took them in so they are a little fuzzy as a result. The remembrance plaque i make and give to anyone that has lost a loved one that I know. I have made a countless number of these, The second one is a Steve Good pattern that I had orders for three of these. the Arizona State plaque (designed by Sam Custodio) I have made three of these, the potters plaque is another of Sam's patterns I made this for a potter friend of mine as a surprise gift, and the wedding cross I mailed to an exchange student that lived with us 5 years ago and it getting married in three weeks. She lives in Slovakia. So you see, though I have not been real busy, I have not been out of the shop completely Dick heppnerguy

  7. Wow, nice pattern and cutting. It is a great cat pattern, indeed Dick heppnerguy
  8. I can not believe how remarkably well you can do a portrait pattern. Very nicely done and cut Dick heppnerguy
  9. John, Welcome once more to The Village. If you find it too difficult some days to work on the scroll saw but feel you can sit at the computer for awhile. log on here and chat with us and post some comments. We care about one another here and we care about you. We are friendly and supportive, so get familiar with all the regulars here Dick heppnerguy
  10. I love the wisdom of Randy, but in this case, be aware that the 'helper keys' do give you better leverage. however they also will increase the width of the blade clamp and at the same time increase the clamping problems that are often found with the DeWalt saws. The clamp replacement parts are super easy to change and only cost about $14. This is a better way to address the clamping problem, should you find that becomes a concern. I would also replace the the thumb screw, blade clamp at the same time. again, quite inexpensive. Also keep in mind that the lower blade clamp is the same as the upper blade clamp. Have fun with your new saw, it is a great saw. Dick heppnerguy
  11. Marg, GA are the abbreviation for the state of Georgia. Just so you know. Dick heppnerguy
  12. Welcome from the sun shine state. and it is really warm here this summer. First of all, thank you for your service. Glad you decided to join up with us here on The Village. We are a very friendly bunch and love it when someone picks us to be a part of. The best thing I can suggest you do is to log on often and respond to posts and even reach out with some new posts of you own. We always enjoy seeing what others are making and the kind of work that they enjoy. Logging on often helps you to know the regulars and us to know you better. Hope to see you around the village, a lot Dick heppnerguy
  13. Keep us informed as to how things work out for you Dick heppnerguy
  14. Good one. Puts you right in the woods. Be careful to watch behind you too Dick heppnerguy
  15. Welcome to The Village from hot and sunny Casa Grande, Arizona. I think you will find the DeWalt much easier to use and you will be off and running in no time. Have a safe trip and don't forget the rest of you family when you get back home. Rest of the family???? Yes us, here in the village Dick heppnerguy
  16. Welcome to The Village. We all love to talk shop, share our work, help others when we can and welcome new family members. Go explore everything you can find here and enjoy being a part of our family. I can guarantee you that if you log on often, take part in the conversations and post your work, you will feel right at home here really quickly Dick heppnerguy
  17. Welcome to The Village. Let us know if you do purchase that machine and how you like it, should you do that. I would want to check and see if there are a lot variety of blades that can be had for this machine. If you are going to be scrolling, you will need to have a pretty big variety of blades. If a variety of blades is not available I would not buy it, no matter how good of a deal it is. I would want it to have the ability of using 5 inch, pin-less blades. Then you can get a very large assortment and I believe you probably will enjoy this machine for all of your life time. Good luck, Oh yes. be sure and explore all the things available to you for free here. Dick heppnerguy
  18. Welcome from hot and sunny Arizona. I am a little confused about your statement of being a scroller for 15ish years but only cutting for 3 years. Could you explain how you can be a scroller for so long but only a cutter for 3 years? That being asked, I hope you log on often, explore all the fun and wonderful things that The Village offers and always remember that questions asked, about any part of scrolling. will always be answered, usually with several view points within the answers. This does not necessarily mean someone is right and another is wrong. It just points out that not everyone does things exactly the same and all may be valid answers. I would suggest that if you run across that. try a few that seems most desirable to you and eventually you will stumble on the way that works best for you. There are a lot of very talented people here and they are always willing to share their knowledge with others. How nice is that? Most important is to post replies to others and post your comments or start a thread at any time. The more you participate the more like family you will feel Dick heppnerguy
  19. Welcome to The Village. I have to say that reading your introduction I felt a little ashamed of myself because once in awhile as I am working on a project, I find that I get discouraged or find myself cutting corners so as to hurry and finish a piece. As a result, I neglect to put into it the necessary efforts and my project becomes a little less than I am capable of. Then I read your introduction and the physical problems you have with only the use of one arm but you still manage to do some really nice work in spite of this problem. That is what makes my hurried work all the more senseless. So thank you for the wake up call for me. I will try to remember your struggles and successes and hopefully do a better job, myself. So glad you are here in our family now and I hope to see you on here a lot so I can get to know you a little better as time goes on. Dick heppnerguy
  20. Ask and the results may not be what you want to hear but they are honest. and honesty is what you should listen to. I understand that it is difficult to justify paying a lot of money for something that you just seems to be a good idea. What if you find it is not for you, then you are out a lot of money. But wait! You can usually find a good used saw on Craigslist and if you find you do not wish to persue this hobby, you can always get your money back on Craigslist. However using a decent saw, I can not imagine that you would not like this wonderful hobby Dick heppnerguy
  21. a nice steady income, makes it well worth your time. The key is to find an item you like cutting and ones that sell well for you and you are off and running. It sure has happened to you, Dick heppnerguy
  22. I use many items that are listed above, additional info would probably just be more confusing, so i would suggest you give some of these a try and then use the one you enjoy the best for you. All above work Dick heppnerguy
  23. I found one that is close to what you are looking for ....it is called wordart hope this helps you Dick heppnerguy
  24. I am with Spirithorse and also commend you on your extra effort to be sure you were not infringing on others rights. Hats off to you Dick heppnerguy
  25. I am not sure about your printer but if your printer is an ink jet printer, I would use a photo a glossy photo paper to print out flag and then i would use a wood glue applied with a small paint roller rlled onto the back of your cutout, then apply the flag directly to the cutout piece and then aply pressure to the tpo of your cutout pattern. Allow it to dry about 20 minutes. I HOPE THES HELPS. if you do not understand exactly what i am saying feel free to PM me Dick heppnerguy
