  1. One of my favorite songs. I like his singing it better than Johnny Cash. Dick heppnerguy
  2. Another nice addition to your air force. You must have quite the collection of models by now. Dick heppnerguy
  3. Nice project. Looks like it would be a fun project to try also. Dick heppnerguy
  4. you are moving along quite nicely so far. Good luck. I will waiting to view the finished project Dick heppnerguy
  5. Denny, nicely done. I love how it came out. Tell me a little about how to dilute the shellac as I would like to give that method a try Dick heppnerguy
  6. I am starting to get into making my frames and I have learned to make my own inlays but have not put one together yet, my next frame I will include an inlaid frame. As far as making a frame It depends on what wood thickness you cut your pattern from. For 1/4 ply I start by cutting all the wood for it on my table saw to make sure they are all the exact width and thickness. Next I use my router to cut the groove in for my project on all my frame wood. If I am going to round my edges I route all of them. If I decide I want to have a 45 degree on the inside of the frame I route that next. Then I go to the miter saw and cut my length so they are exactly the same. Because I am new to making my frames, I then lay the first two pieces upside down and check to see if my project I am framing is the precise length I need. I always cut them a little too long on purpose so I have enough for this step. I inside of the the grove where the plaque is going to be inset is where I determine the length needed. I usually allow about a 16th inch total length longer as that will still hold my insert pattern without a problem. I do the same one the other two sides and when I am happy with that, I glue them up. That is they process I use and it seems to work for me Dick heppnerguy
  7. A nice project and a great place to use it. Good for you Dick heppnerguy
  8. I have cut several ornate boxes and I love those patterns but they are not very exciting to most that see them. Makes me wonder if they might be a little outdated or something, like all the beautiful ornate fret clocks. People like how they look but they really seem to not want them themselves. I got 7 of my boxes put into the scroll saw magazine several years ago. That made me feel sort of special Dick heppnerguy
  9. I loved the pattern, but not real happy with my work on it. Dick heppnerguy
  10. Thank you. You are so nice to say that..I wish I could have done a lot better but this is what came out of my efforts Dick heppnerguy
  11. thank you,, Dick heppnerguy
  12. Thank you for that comment. I did not see the older look to it, I just admired Dave Monk's project and pattern and made an effort to make one for my wife for valentine's day. You are now the 3rd person who mentioned it be a 'throw back of time' type pattern. Dick heppnerguy
  13. She did like it....I was glad about that. Thank you for your nice comment Dick heppnerguy
  14. Wow thanks for the support from you, Dave. I personally want to thank you your generosity with your pattern. I really imagine you probably looked at it and thought to yourself, "He sure could have put a little more effort into it than this." I loved what you did but I am not you. Dick heppnerguy
  15. I never caught 'The Vintage Look', myself but you are the second one that said that to me. Thanks for the supportive words Dick heppnerguy
  16. I saw this project posted by the designer a little while back along with the pattern. So first of all I wish to thank Dave Monk for so generously sharing his pattern. I know my project does not stand up to the talents of Dave but I still want to post what I did so you all know I am not simply sitting in the sun and not at all in my shop. My wife liked it so at least that more than made it worth while for me to make the effort to cut it Dick heppnerguy
  17. Oh what a fun gift for these girls. Nice work and a great idea Dick heppnerguy
  18. another thought for hanging that can work is to use a toothed oblong hanger and then old the plaque between your thumb and index finger and bring the piece down to a table or flat surface, watching which side hits the table first. They move your hold toward that side and test it again. Do this until you find that the entire projects tough the surface at the same time. marking where you are holding the back side at that point, hammer in the saw tooth mounting bracket in the middle of where you were holding it when it hit the surface evenly. It does not matter if it is not exactly in the middle of your piece as it is not seen once it is hung and you can easily make small adjustment by simply moving it in the mounting bracket as needed. Dick heppnerguy
  19. Nice projects. I have cut several fret boxes in the past and also enjoyed the outcome. Of course, you always do such a wonderful job on your scroll saw work. they look great. Dick heppnerguy
  20. Way to go, Barb. Proud of you for stepping up and trying some new ways to use your scroll saw. Intarsia is really enjoyed by everyone. Keep up the great job Dick heppnerguy
  21. I love how you were able to paint this so well. It does also look like a artist painting of a wolf. I have some air brushes but still waiting to go for it. Love everything about this project Dick heppnerguy
  22. a fun project. Should bring quite a lot of fun comments as your guests view it. Dick heppnerguy
  23. A nice idea. I thought you made it just as a decorative project not used as a means of playing on line. Another beautifully done project, as all of your work is. Dick heppnerguy
  24. Looks pretty darn good to me. I believe your niece will be more than thrilled with this project and also amazed that you personally cut this. For me on 1/4 in ply I usually use a #1 Pegas blade and it also does not create fuzzies on the back side of the wood. Dick heppnerguy
  25. Interesting aircraft. I like your pattern for it. In the Army Paratroopers I flew and jumped mainly from C-123 and C-130's. Interesting aircraft also. Nice job on your project Dick heppnerguy
