  1. Jerry, that is too funny. I am also 83 and I am quite the joker myself but your remarks of fun went right over my head and I thought you were serious. I am constantly making remarks to total strangers and I don't even know where the thought came from myself as I really didn't even think before I made the crack. An example....one time I was walking by a post office mail box in our community where the entire block of mailboxes are placed in one central location, and a woman whom I had never seen before pulled up to the boxes in her car and got out of the drivers seat with a cute little puppy in her arms. as I was passing by her, I said,"That sure is a cute companion you have with you." The woman replied, "Why thank you." then without having even thought ahead of time how I was going to react or if I even would say anything IF she replied to my comment, I said without hesitation, "I was talking to the dog." So you see, we probably are a lot a like. Thanks for the chuckles Dick heppnerguy
  2. Thank you Roberta. It is kind of a new venture for me and I am loving the challenge and results a lot Dick heppnerguy
  3. I think you should try a rather easy pattern and cut from a 1/4 thick ply or solid wood and don't worry a lot about being perfectly on the pattern lines but just a little short of where you need to be, then staying within the cut use the running blade very lightly as a file or like sandpaper and gently go back and forth over the area inside the pattern until you remove the excess wood and are now on line. Doing this a few times will help to give you the feel of the spiral blade and it's ability to cut perfect. Move smoothly and continually while cutting and I bet you will be moving to the spiral blade before long for you fret work. You can do it Dick heppnerguy
  4. I use probably 4 blades to cut one of these. I let the blade do the cutting and do not push them through the pattern. I goes so nice for me. I use a number 1 spiral quite a bit on these. It is rapidly becoming my go to blade. Dick heppnerguy
  5. I don't actually cut the paper...I cut it as usual out of wood. The patterns were designed for paper cutting hobbies. Because I enjoy the delicacy of that type of pattern, I look for paper cutting pattern to make these patterns I have started cutting lately. Dick heppnerguy
  6. Wow. For someone that always does such a great job on your projects, that is a really nice comment. Thank you so much Dick heppnerguy

  15. Thank you Paul...This is now the sort of patterns that I really enjoy cutting because they keep me focused and a lot more time on the spiral blade. I look the results and they make scrolling really worth my time too Dick heppnerguy
  16. It is indeed time to start on more Christmas projects and what better than the ones you choose? I really like the projects and the nicely done items you choose. They will add some new interest in someone's decorations this year and years to come Dick heppnerguy
  17. You may or may not recall a couple of weeks ago I posted a paper cut pattern of a little house tucked in among a lot of foliage. Well I received a lot of nice comments. I found still another paper cut pattern that was a little more challenging than the first one and showed it to my wife who immediately wanted me to cut that one with a matching backer board color. So I printed the pattern and set out to cut it for her. She was pleased with it and we hung it yesterday beside the first paper cut pattern containing the little house. I again cut the entire pattern with a #1 spiral blade and after a few hours had it finished. I used a 1/4 inch thick solid core Baltic Birch covering, of which I do not like the wood I used but it came out alright from the front side. Now my wife is happy having the new item on the wall and I was thrilled to find a project that challenged me to cut. Dick heppnerguy
  18. thank you for the nice comment once more. It just is not exactly what I am after in the coloring and I am trying to figure it all out. It is better than how my colorizing of a wood project used to be, but still what I want to happen with my efforts. I do really appreciate you taking the time to write your thoughts and helpful suggestions. Believe me, that is exactly what I am looking for. Dick heppnerguy

  25. Just because I am living proof painting scroll items is not for the non artist like myself, I have no doubt if you did it, it would come out perfect, my friend Dick
