  1. It is a learning item for me and I am getting a little closer to what I am after but still a long way off. Thank for the encouragement I appreciate that a lot more than you might realize. Dick heppnerguy
  2. I usually find for me that the paint often does not give me the amount of coverage I am looking for so I don't know if it will work for my liking or not but I really appreciate your input and I will give it a try. thanks so much for the help. Do you use only one coat of paint when doing that? Dick heppnerguy
  3. Here is one more effort to try and figure out how to add color to my projects when I think it will help to make it stand out and be a little more appealing. I do think I am slowly catching on to it but still have a ways to go, for sure. I am not an artist and I am trying to figure all this out by trying to pay attention to what others are doing and grab a little information from each one. Because it is not an natural art I posses, it is a very slow process indeed. I probably will not ever tot ally understand it but I do believe I will get better as I go, after all, it is obviously the only direction I can go. Dick heppnerguy
  4. That would just be a 'going in reverse' situation for you, my friend.
  5. Very nicely done. This is an interesting pattern for sure. I cut this one several years ago but since I had no use for another clock, it choose to do it as a plaque instead. Congratulations on the fair winnings. Nice recognition. Dick heppnerguy
  6. You the master of all. You may have a few unfinished items but you always end of master of all you attempt. After all you are my 'Try to imitate ' person, if I ever want to come close to pleasing myself with my work projects Dick heppnerguy
  7. Thank you. I am glad you like the textures as it is now becoming one of my 'learning to master better' items with my scrolling projects. I am also working on trying to learn about colorizing some of my projects it hopes of making my work a little more interesting. Both are learning things. Time will tell if I really have caught on or not Dick heppnerguy
  8. Thank you so much for the really nice comments. I am pretty happy with it.. It is not perfect but over all it is fine with me. I love your beaver story. I am originally from Oregon and Oregon is "the beaver state" Dick heppnerguy
  9. thank you Namunolie, I am just trying to learn to use the Dremel a little more so the more I try the better I should be able to do Dick heppnerguy I haven't your talent but I still enjoy trying to do a little better as time goes by. A little more difficult as I get older but I am not giving up yet, not at only 83 years old, anyway Dick heppnerguy
  10. Yes Marcie the weather is getting better. It has been in the mid 60's at 5:30 when I go for my walk and now it has dropped to the low 100's but double digits are in the forecast for next weekend. Glad you enjoyed my latest intarsia effort Dick heppnerguy
  11. Thank you so much. I am digging out the Dremel tool to see if I can learn to spruce things up just a little. I guess it is sort of working Dick heppnerguy

  14. thank you for the nice comment. I appreciate it Dick heppnerguy
  15. I am not ruining the wood, with winter coming I am going to have to have wood for the fireplace and I don't want to be a 'plain Jane' so I thought I would make some decorative firewood this time.. See I do look ahead and I save the sawdust for an easy start on making my fire too Dick heppnerguy
  16. I just thought this was such a cute little pattern that I had no choice but to give it a try Dick heppnerguy

  19. Another personal wood portrait for your vast collection, and of course another really great pattern and cutting for a wonderful project Dick heppnerguy
  20. Welcome to THE VILLAGE where a lot of people from all over the world come together to enjoy each other's projects and learn from one another. Just for your information I am going to give you a couple of places where you can download a lot of scroll saw patterns to learn on. First is the pattern library right here in THE SCROLL SAW VILLAGE and another good one is www.scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com this last site has a lot of beginner patterns and also some advanced patterns as well. The other tip is do not buy your blades at the big box stores as they do not handle the ones you will need for scrolling. Those you will need to but on line. Ask about those sites and they will be given to you from the membership here. One last suggestion would be to find a wood store near you that sells Baltic Birch Plywood, as that is the best plywood for scrolling as it has not voids in the middle of the plys so it will keep you from messing up a project do to the voids in normal plywood. The most used thickness it 1/4 inch. Good luck on your new endeavor and take your time, with practice you will soon be doing projects you never thought you could handle. Dick heppnerguy
  21. thank you. I used to do quite a bit of intarsia but never had the money to purchase much in the way of wood so my work was not as nice as it could have been but because most of my family and friends was not in touch with the true artists of intarsia they continue to enjoy the projects I made for them in the past. Dick heppnerguy
  22. This pattern is a JGR pattern that I purchased a few months ago and finally got around to cutting it. It took me 3 days to make and I added a little bit of texture for added interest, as I usually haven't done that because I thought I did not have the tools neccesary to do it. I finally tried to add the texture using my Dremel and it worked fairly well. I used several kinds of woods, It isn't perfect but i am glad to be at least making an effort to get back to doing some of them. Dick heppnerguy
  23. Oh how kind of you. Thank you so much Dick heppnerguy
  24. Thank you for your support. I think you are correct on the pattern maker. He makes really nice patterns Dick heppnerguy
  25. Here is another of my recent shop projects. I am not sure but I believe I downloaded the pattern from the pattern forum here. I liked this one from the first time I saw it and just got around to cutting it. I did make a quick easy frame for it and painted it this off red color. I enjoyed the time spent to cut it and I plan on giving it to some family member for Christmas. I hope they like it also Dick heppnerguy
