  1. Way to go, Dan. I have been busy trying to get the gifts made too. Just took a box full out of the shop yesterday. As soon as Thanksgiving is over. they will start to be wrapped and placed under the tree. Dick heppnerguy
  2. Really nice thing for you to do for them. I bet many will be hanging on a Christmas tree for years to come.."what does this mean, mommy" will be a question from the children of the girls that received them this week. It will spark stories of the mommy's days in high school. Dick heppnerguy
  3. I am still experimenting with my finishing. I have tried many things but I have yet to really fund one that satisfies me and gives me what I want to achieve. I use lemon oil for most of my scroll items but find a lot of people prefer a high gloss on my intarsia pieces and that only comes out to my satisfaction, once in awhile. I just keep struggling. Dick heppnerguy
  4. Danny, That is a good idea. Thank you for your post. I have made a few free hand puzzles and the people I have given them to, really enjoyed them. As you pursue your endeavor let us know the responses you get. I would suggest that you bring this up again, in the future and see what kind of responses you might get. Puzzles to assisted living places might also be nice. Way to go, Danny. Dick heppnerguy
  5. thanks Travis .. I will go and try to check it out for myself. Dick heppnerguy
  6. looks like you have been very busy in your shop.. and producing some great pieces.. Dick heppnerguy
  7. a nice original pattern and cut very well. Thanks for sharing it with us Dick heppnerguy
  8. so where is the 'shout box ' I can't find it anywhere...maybe I should go look for my glasses, but i probably can't locate them unless I have my glasses on...aint that a dilemma ? Dick heppnerguy
  9. Giving away your things as a gift serves two purposes. 1. It feels good to give away your art to knowing it is good enough to attract others 2. It gets a lot of your things out there where a lot of other people will see them and that will help you sell more, plus it is like free advertising. you wife knows what she is doing Dick heppnerguy
  10. nice little sleigh.. and good tip, Roly. I wonder how many of us even think to sell our items as a flat pack.
  11. Kevin, is there any pattern that you have not cut ? I think you must have gotten the Oregon beaver fever when you lived in The Dalles, because you have beenas busy as a beaver, that is for sure. Dick heppnerguy
  12. Kevin, our word cutting specialist. Nice job, glad to see you making sawdust again.. Dick heppnerguy
  13. we do have some very talented individuals here in The village. Another example of great workmanship displayed here. Dick heppnerguy
  14. the differences is what makes 'home made items' stand out. I like to purposely make slight changes to a project when I make them. I want my projects to have a certain originality to them. One thing I like about scrolling is if you do happen to vary a little off a line, only you know it. Others will not even see it, unless it is way off. Remember, most people think you are special to be able to produce things like these out of wood, (and we won't tell anyone any different), let them think we are extremely talented,if they want. Dick heppnerguy
  15. good guesses Marg just nicked the edge of an otherwise correct guess. but being Australia, you did pretty well Dick
  16. Larry, Glad to see that you are being active here. It helps to get to know everyone and feel a part of our world wide family.. A lot of new comers are coming back often, so nice to have you all on board Dick heppnerguy
  17. Looks really good, Matt....you did a top notch job on it.. and it is framed too. Dick heppnerguy
  18. This is all helpful to me too.. I need to make a note so that I can refer back to this post in the future...Lots of good ideas.. Framing is one more of my weaknesses..It sounds like I have no strength at all... but I am sure that I must..........somewhere...........let me think.............still thinking................. Dick heppnerguy
  19. Now we all know...thanks Travis...for posting the answer and making the shout box too Dick heppnerguy
  20. Roly, you didn't fool any of us.. we knew you were kidding , I just had to get in on all the fun too Dick heppnerguy
  21. Kevin here is a solution for you.. the writing I am doing not is not caps but it is still bigger than the font caps that you use... at the top of this screen is a box marked "font" and just to the right of that is one that says 'size'. Click on that and choose what ever size you like. small to really big and without caps, you are officially not shouting and that should appease everyone. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Norman, Nice to see that you found us. You are most welcome and we are all glad that you are with us. The best suggestion that I can make to you is, log in often, explore everything on here that you can and get acquainted with the sight and the people here. Post often. Ask any questions about anything you might be wondering about and use your knowledge to help others and soon you will understand that you have become a member of our world wide family Dick heppnerguy
  23. nice work.. I have never tried any medal cutting on my saw yet, but i would like to do that at some point. Thanks, Kevin for the reminder that you didn't even know you gave to me Dick heppnerguy
  24. nice piece. You have to have just right place for something as large and beautiful as this one is. Dick heppnerguy
  25. you are truly a craftsman. Very well done, both in design and in the cutting.. You must be a patient man/ Dick heppnerguy
